Great videos! Thanks Russ and Mr Pope for your enlightening video discussions! As a Katana wielder interested in the European 1 handed swords like saber and arming swords, I have learned a lot and gained an even greater desire to study HEMA.
Hi Russ, sorry to hear you’re unwell. Hope you’re feeling better soon. These things would be much more quickly dealt with if fencers could meet in person to discuss them and find common ground, but I appreciate the time you’ve put into the conversation.
Also remember the longer between responses the more drawn out the discussion on 19th century sabre will be which given how neglected the 19th century is in HEMA will only be a good thing.
@@russmitchellmovement putting up stream every few weeks talking about different fencing stuff, would be cool. Both your channels would get a traffic boost, and it would be great for the sport. Many channels lately are really getting good results with the pleasant discussion, long form layout.
Hello, Mr Pope. I found your technique in these discussion videos very compelling, so I think it would be very enjoyable watching you perform and show your interpretation of the sources more often. Would it be possible to have a dedicated video series of Sabre sparring, perhaps from your classes?
I agree, this shows the mistake of literal interpretation of images, rather than genuine trial and test of the hypothesis by multiple fencers, Russia is good but not the be all and end all of fencing 😊

Hey sir -- saw that you posted. Thank you! I'm unfortunately rather ill at the moment, so it'll be a bit until I can watch. Bear with please.

You guys should do a stream sometime… chat back and forth on your “points”.
@@sandozman6085 I'm away all next week but perfectly willing if time zones can be managed.

I appreciate high level of discussion higiene, and complementary answers on topic. I really enjoy your videos, sir! ;DD
Calm, well reasoned responses. You guys know this is the internet, right? No place for that kind of stuff!

Do you have a link to a Swordsman pdf? I wasn't able to find one publicly available
Can you post a link to "the swordsman"?

What kind of gloves are you using in these clips?
I’m wearing gloves from sup-fen. They’re not protective enough for high level competition intensities in many places, but fine for club fencing.
@@DanielPopeScholarVictoria thanks, I’m always on the look out for gloves that fit decently in a bowl hilted sabre.
