Contingency + Resilient Sphere when the caster is helpless might be a last ditch save option just as long as the rest of the party can win without the caster. Granting if you have a helpless wizard then you may not have a wizard soon after that so sticking them in a sphere won't necessarily lose you anything.
You missed the most important part of Wyvern Call - You can kill the wyvern and loot it! You thought goodberry was a money maker? This bad boy will make you rich in, like, 12 years max!
I remember the first time, in which I felt REALLY powerful in; I guess in either of the original games, was when I first tried a death spell, I think at the beginning of lord Fiirkrags dungeon. It basically just cleared an entire room of enemies. Just chanting, then POOP - everything dead, with the animated ghosts rising from the corpses. I vaguely remember snake enemies with halberds, but this was 21 or 22 something years ago, mind you. It might even have been elsewhere in the game. My jaw dropped then and there because there was NO cheese, NO AoE, NO bouncing lightnings or fireballs, NO planning, buffing and execution, NO summon spam (that I used to get through parts of 1, including, but not limited to Sarevok himself). Just my party, one spell from Nalia and a room with dead enemies. This was, and probably still is, a HARD game on first playthrough with core rules so I had had to tread really carefully until now. Now I had just gotten my first lvl6 spells and thought that death spell was highly unlikely to really work on anything, so I just tried it. I was beginning to get to the higher levels but this was were my eyes started to open up to the possibilities hidden from me with the measly levels from BG1 and until then in BG2. Some memories stand out to this day and my first usage of death spell is one of those. Man, this game kicked your ass and then let you play god. An awesome experience.
I've found the fire elemental (I assume this also goes for the other elementals) is excellent in places like the Temple Ruins and the tombs in the graveyard district, because it is immune to +1 weapons and less - so the staple undead (shadows, ghasts, skeleton warriors etc.) can't damage it at all, while it wrecks them in reply. Not sure if it also works against shadow fiends. But having the elemental scout ahead completely took away the risk of getting stat & level drained.
I was going to play devil's advocate and state that Tenser's can be used to good effect if you're playing MT (and, I guess, the Shadowdancer--->Mage dual) since the extra damage and fighter THACO can be useful for Backstabs. But, even as I wrote that, I realized that I'd probably rather have the extra Misleads and Improved Hastes for that spell slot when playing those classes. So, for BG (and its cousin IWD) I agree that its benefits are nice but hardly necessary at absolute best. Glad I stumbled upon this series. Kudos for doing it.
It seems more useful for the Bard and its kits (especially Blades), being psuedo casters with Thief EXp tables. (6+2/lvl)x2 HP means you get slightly higher base (but lower post-lvl 10 progression, so probably about the same) HP than the warriors, which is neat as a start. Then add on that you're likely to have an advantage in thac0 until ToB because of your faster levelling and it seems pretty decent as a way for the Blade to fill in for a fighter. But, for full or multiclassed mages, it does seem pretty counterproductive as disabling spellcasting is much worse for them than a psuedo caster.
@@TheTdroid Yeah at the end of the day not being able to cast is just horrendous. Either you can cast, and the spell becomes S tier or you cant and its just awful. The blade thac0 is definitely shit but I'd still rather them be able to cast than get a thac0 boost. I've tried using it several times in the past and either its useless because shit is already dying, or it gets the blade / whatever killed.
@@Davaeornlol Now, I don't play on modded super difficulties or anything, I don't have the time to get that good, so I am sure it is entirely different there. But on the normal settup for the games, it does seem like a nice one-of spell for Blades for when you're just about out of spells towards the end of a difficult fight or want a boost for the frontlines without expending a lot of spellslots. So more of an everyday utility than something to be used for major battles. As Blades aren't locked into their loadout, simply swapping it in and out as needed is rather convenient. That said, as one unlocks Use Any Item on the Blade and uber gear starts piling up in your inventory, thac0 seem to drop significantly in importance, so it is definitely a strict time limit even on this form of utility. I guess I'm saying I think it has purpose as a utility for clearing regular content in the mid levels specifically for psuedo casters with their limited spellslots, until said psuedo casters stop giving their thac0 score more than a passing glance.
Flesh to Stone: In the Arnise Keep you find a ring that does this once a day. Equipable by all, +1AC that stacks with other protection items. It's on the ground floor right by the flail head.
I have thought about choosing sub-optimal to shit spells only but I can't stand solo runs, that's all I did as a kid and I found them to be boring and lifeless. It's the party and bants that make baldurs gate special imo. Thanks for watching and commenting friend!
Totally agree but I meant flavor as in giving weird spells screen time, wacky, unconventional solutions and such :) But by all means, a party with c tier / unconventaional spells + itemization would be awesome too!
46:01 I just imagine you doing your grocery shopping and this sweet little old lady comes up to you and starts telling you just how good Tenser's Transformation *really* is 😂
34:14 'most of the spells you're gonna get hit with are AoE and that goes right through the globe' I guess you don't read too well. The spell description says it right there "(i.e the area of effect of any such spells DOES NOT include the area of the Globe of Invulnerability)." So no, AoEs do not pass through the globe. Unless they're higher then Level 4. The Globe is awesome against all the Fireballs and Skull Traps you get bombarded with. Tbf even the Minor Globe will stop those, so not much difference, but this lasts longer. I have at least one of these on all my mages - especially fighter mages. Lets you walk through Stinking Clouds, Webs, greases, etc. etc. Can take the place of Free Action. Any AoE stuff lower or equal to lvl4. Also stops most creature innates. Get surrounded by spiders/ettercaps and their stupid webs? Pop the Globe. Get ambushed by Sirines and their mind-control? Pop the Globe. Umber Hulks? Pop the Globe. Vampires? Ditto. Won't stop Level Drain, but you won't be Charmed. Those innate Fireballs cast by Quasits? Pop the Globe. None of it goes through. Basically any AoE from trash mobs will be stopped by this. And you see trash mobs throughout SoA and some ToB, not just BG1.
Globe of Invulnerability: 35:00 That's inaccurate Dav, the spell works against AoE. Also, it protects against Malison and Spell Thrust. This definitely puts it on at least B tier.
This was made forever ago and the mechanics for all the globes actually changed to be what they should be. I plan on redoing the series at some point to add the iwd spells but 90% of it doesn't change fortunately.
Good stuff! I just realized today that I screwed up my party in BG2...sitting on a ton of level 6 scrolls but no one can cast them yet. Turns out that having a Bard and Cleric/Mage as your casters instead of anny pure mage makes you get this stuff a lot slower. Fun to learn from mistakes though.
Pretty sure I’ve caught Dav using some chain lightening on stream lately!! 😂 amazing how you can still find new uses for spells this long after release!
I can’t agree on Chain Lightning. Sure it is worse than some level 3 damage spells, but it’s still the best damage spell in level 6. As a sorcerer or as a mage with a lot of spell slots, sometimes you need to have damage at every level or you will run out of offense and die. Electric damage is less common to have enemies resist it in SCS so this isn’t horrible and it has saved me before when I’m tapped out on spells and need to find damage. You need to be super leveled to have the damage be meaningful but that still makes it viable for at least late game. Also one thing I will say the forking of the lightning blows and never seems to work as it should. So I think it would be C tier in another level since it wouldn’t be the best damage spell by far (except maybe level 2…) but I think it needs to be A or at least B given the nonexistent other options. Love your guides and I generally agree! And play on the same settings, except almost always solo.
That's the reason you like CL tbh is because you're solo. It's pretty damn useful if you're alone I agree 100%, but I almost roll with a crew and in that case it's just so terrible XD. Glad you enjoy the videos friend thanks for watching and commenting!
Fun fact, I recently started a new game on latest patch, SCS, Insane (no increased enemy damage though), Butchery mods. Used myself (lvl 10 kensai import from SOD) and Imoen. It was, needless to say difficult to reach the end of Irenicus Chateau, especially with just 1 rest. But definitely a blast. Anyway I had cleared almost the whole thing (killing like 100 duergar), apart from the two groups of Otyughs near the exit. Idk if SCS buffed that but both groups were super strong (2 otyughs, 4 ochre jellies, 2 mustard jellies each) and they fucking HURT! So I was very low hp, almost all resources depleted thinking about how to clear this until I remembered I hadn't picked up the lvl 6 Conjure Air elemental scroll from the pocket air plane. It was the buffed version too, no mental battle and chance for higher hd versions to show up (think that was originally the druid's version? Idk) So I summon one, it's a 12 HD one, I send it vs 1st group and it dies in 4 seconds. Not joking. It literally melted. Also, fun, air elementals take poison damage(!). I summon again and again until I get the 18 HD version. It kills 1 jelly before it too disintegrates into, air, I guess. I keep reloading until I get the 5% Elder version. Surely a 24 HD dude can deal with a group of slimes right? Well, barely. I had to do some crazy kiting in order to give the dude time to work. Like dive in and out and get all the slimes to focus on me and let the elemental do its thing. Even so, dude got blown up leaving two slimes still living in the second group. O_o At this point I'm thinking even Chan the prince of air wouldn't be able to deal with those fucking slimes in the first dungeon and get out unscathed.
One big disadvantage (or a bug) of True Sight in SCS is that it dispells blind on enemies. So if you used Nature's Beauty you probably don't want to cast TS on top of that.
I like tenser, just because I like spellsword build. Well not build exactly, rather the combination of all protection buffs, tenser and energy blades. It feels really good to kill dragons with it, like you're really spellsword baalspawn. Of course, that's the big sub-optimal, but anyway, tenser is tier s for me. I love spellswords; I play them whenever I can.
I always use tenser's transformation on haer dalis when i don't intend to cast spells with him in a fight. It gives him extra HP, improves his thaco and makes him pretty good in a frontline.
I actually like Tensers. But only as a last spell trick for blades like Haer Dalis before level 20, when he becomes better than your other warriors cause higher level table, and have not more spells protections to recast more than one or two stoneskins/images This is only if I'm self restricting about multiple sleeps of course, and in need to tank foes dealing damage at the same time. He can usually attack 3-6 times if hasted if using Kundane or Scarlet, or 4-8 with them both with very good Thaco.
Theres one fight in the underdark where your fighting a drow party before the underdark city, just before a bridge, and you really notice the distance true sight dispelling those casters hiding all the way up screen there.
Just comment about death spell. According to core rules this spell will not work for Gated creatures. And from what I saw this is the case in bg2 scs. High level demons cannot be summoned, but rather hard linked(Gated) to material plane. Regarding elemental princes I do not know, but it would make sense considering them Gated too.
If you turn off gore so you don't lose items from disintegration and petrification, how would that change your rating for Disintegrate and Flesh to Stone?
In unmodded, Tenser's + Mislead + Black Blade of Disaster + Improved Haste is fun on a Mage/Thief :-) I guess nothing big for power gaming but fun. I cleared almost the whole 2nd area of the temple with fire giants with Imoen without taking any damage.
Fire Giants have a -11 THAC0 when they're raging, and I believe a -7 or -8 when not. So they should hit -20 AC on a 9 or higher. You can check by spawning one and Ctrl-Q'ing it into your party. I don't play on insane though, I think it screws up the balance of the game, I play on Core with SCS. Edit: Oh, and the mage elemental summons, while not as good as the divine ones, are useful if you summon them before a fight. I used one just the other day to kill the golem in De'Arnise keep that none of my characters could hit at level 8 or 9. Haste that bad boy up, and even the level 5 version can do good damage. Edit2: oh, the other thing is that the Globe of invulnerability spells do protect from area spells, which is their best function. The level 6 one is ok, but the level 4 one is better because it's useful to protect against fireballs and skull traps in one low-level spell. They also protect against cleric spells, which is useful too.
On -20 AC an elite fire giant rolled a 2 and hit. Not sure where the extra thac0 is coming from. Grandmastery +2 wep and 23 strength and berserking shouldn't make it THAT high XD. Oh well. Calculations are fucked with the bg2 engine. Thanks for commenting friend!
If Protection from Magical Weapons is so good, what's the point of Mantle, Improved MAntle, and Absolute Immunity, which are all higher level spells that do essentially the same function.
Well for the main character, no point aside from wanting extra protections in place of other crap. In ToB though 90% of your enemies will have a normal weapon to swap to, so they can keep hitting mages with PFMW. I still wouldn't rate them highly, but they can be ok at times.
While nowhere near a great spell, I think that you're underselling Wyvern Call. According to one of the devs (elminster) from the Beamdog forums, Wyverns are immune to web, hold, slow, entangle, grease, and (exclusively in BG2/BG2EE) level drain. When mixed with Web spells a Wyvern makes for a decent damage dealer, and continues to do so until you hit level 15, at which point of course Animate Dead takes over.
For some reason, I seem to have missed Far sight on your list. If you covered it, great. I think it is b tier, situationally useful, but wizard eye does the same and is mobile. Also, clerics get it.
i use nishruu to cheese liches, i cast one and leave the room and reenter until the lich is out of spells, tbh im not actually sure the nishruu does anything now lol but it seems to run out faster with it (although its faster overall to just not summon anything and dont let it follow you outside but you cant always do that)
With my mods nishruu cant hit them at all and they're killed by special spells they have :L. Definitely best to wear them out tho! Thanks for watching and commenting friend!
@@Davaeornlol I think they have only 3 death spells in the base game, i haven't counted before but i summon golem and insta dead, then kitthax and its dead, then two nishruu and one usually survives at least a little while (i assume he runs out of death spells)
@@Davaeornlol also thank you for making these videos, i suck way more than you but im sharpening my skills to try out scs, it looks fun, i really like watching you and playing when im having a bad time, you are my weird therapy haha.
Apart from protecting against AOE spells GoI protects against Spell Thrust. So your enemies will have to use at least Secret Word to get rid of your Spell Shield. And when this is removed your SI spells are still protected from everything with exception to Spell strike and Warding Whip. Without GoI all your SI could get dispelled with a single spell thrust. Instead the next spell removal will hit your GoI buying you another round of time.
True, I really should have emphasized how different each persons play is with SCS, as the spells are in many ways randomized. In my installation no wizard ever used ST, so GoI is incredibly useless as it takes up a very very valuable level 6 slot. If you're finding wizards using ST on the regular GoI may indeed be an excellent choice to counter it. Thanks for commenting and watching friend!
@@Davaeornlol I have to get back on that one. In my setup (EE2.5/SCS 3.2.4) GOI does not protect your spell shield against Spell Thrust. So GOI is really not worth it over minor globe unless including mods that introduce scary 4th level spells.
would there be a situation where you fight a target you would use flesh to stone or disintegrate but loot isn't a concern? Like say it's a tough enemy weak to that but the loot is like 12 gold coins, or a monster that has something you can't really use? Also, can you use flesh to stone to cc a target? Like flesh to stone a cleric so you can kill the rest of the enemies and stone to flesh him later for the loot? I'm more use to 3.5 DnD games so I'm more familiar with the spells there and saves work very differently. Like disintegrate is transmutation so it being abjuration is still weird to me even though BG1 was the first dnd game i played 🤔
Unfortunately most enemies you don't care about are coming en masse in which case you wanna use an aoe spell, pretty much everything that would merit you turning to stone (Because of how strong it is you would want to insta kill it over using a lower level spell) is probably something you wanna loot. The enemies that you WOULD want to use this on that also don't have shit for loot are really tough to make it work, like beholders, would be great to insta kill them but good luck getting this cast off.
Two C-tier spells, Tenser's and Spell Deflection, work much better in tandem, because Tenser's problem of getting dispelled and being unable to recover from it can be somewhat circumvented by shielding your Spell Immunity: Abjuration with both Spell Shield and Spell Deflection. You need 2 Ruby Rays to get through that.
Thanks for watching friend! That works well for the mage itself but planetars dispel on hit, it's very important to be able to throw up protection from magical weapons to prevent being decapitated (or simply mauled, as they are hasted and rarely miss). Planetars are pretty much in every fight starting with the planar sphere, so I tend to avoid spells like this, as they prevent you from further casting. Furthermore, you're sacrificing dps from not being able to cast spells. Fighter mages can throw a skull trap then get off every melee attack, this is going to do more damage than tensers and melee every single time. If you are a thief mage (or bard) you're so restricted by attacks per round that it's still better to not use it IMO.
I used tenser's on my kensai mage after he had already cast all his buffs and he was ready to go in. It worked great but I guess it was before I was at the point in the game where enemies were chain debuffing, and I don't have SCS :(
My Fighter 13 -> Mage does great with Tenser's as long as I remember to cast all my buffs before using it. Killed Irenicus real fast 'cuz I had Nalia and Imoen strip him of his protections, used Tenser's, and wrecked him (played SCS). I'm sure it's shit for pure mages and probably shit for multiclass Fighter/Mages but for dual-class Fighter -> Mages it seems pretty nice, gives their THAC0 a good boost which is generally a bit of a weak point for dual-class fighter -> mages...probably B-grade, and I think would be A-grade if Improved Haste didn't turn your melee fighters into walking nukes that makes Horrid Wilting look cute thus making the trade of magic spells for even more melee power admittedly harder to justify. That's my two cents!
It's a powerful spell, but you can't cast any more mage spells after you cast it which just makes it, terrible tbh. If you lose your spell protections you drop INSANELY quickly, especially late ToB. I have a playthrough of a berserker mage going from 187 hp to dead in 0.17 seconds, from just a couple fire giants. My stoneskin wore off and I died isntantly, no crits, just raw damage output from insane difficulty / scs. I can't really condone any spell that silences you for it's duration :(. Thanks for watching and commenting friend!
I hope when you get famous you get to interview the original creators of this game on why so many spells are absolute shit, or rather why some spells are absolutely broken. The Chad 8 hours and scales with level, lvl 5, Animate Dead vs The Virgin 1 turn per level, doesn't scale, PSYCHIC CONTEST, lvl 6, 4 round casting time, Fire Elemental.
Lol I wish, to be fair I don't even mind it, if they're all taken right from AD&D its not their fault and in a sense it adds some flavor to have amazing to shit spells in a gamut. I do wish specialists actually felt more like specialists tho, so many ways to make that work. Maybe adding bonus spell slots but requiring you to have a certain amount of your base specialization memorized or something! Idk
I've tried it in the past with mixed results sometimes they come back and everything is ok other times they go hostile again anyway. I'm assuming you're talking about party members yes? Holy shit this comment is old and I missed it I apologize friend. I try to read comments everyday but sometimes youtube doesn't notify me for some dumb reason. Sorry about that. God bless you friend
What do you refer to by 48:46 when you say "right clicking a scroll will get you up to 9k EXP and you can erase it from your memory and do it over and over again"?
You can remove spells from your spellbook permanently, this is useful for wizards with lower int who have a limited amount of spells they can have learned per level (this is circumnavigated by a variety of tools anyways but that's why it exists). So I can learn time stop, remove it from my spell book, and relearn it if I have another scroll, you can repeat this until you run out of scrolls. We don't do it because it's cheesy af, but It can be done.
I think you're underrating Conjure Earth Elemental (dunno about the other ones, never use em)... just cleared the entirety of CH2/CH3 with edwin spamming nothing but conjure earth elementals, buffing them up, and racing them through the dungeons (well minus the dragons/kangaxx/twisted rune etc)... dunno if my mods are messing with the spell since theres no psychic battle in my config (SCS+insane/g3tweaks/ascension is all i got...). the text says there should be a psychic battle but there isnt. i think that might be a holdover from classic but i guess my install could be buggy. i know animate dead is still better but lvl 12, 13, and 14 take up a decent chunk of SoA. real quick unbuffed stat breakdown earth elemental - 96 hp, average 19 dmg/round (crushing), available from lvl 12 skeleton warrior - 80 hp(but plethora of resistances of course), average 29 dmg/round (slashing), available from lvl 15 i think the biggest difference, however, is earth elementals hit with +3 weapons and skeleton warriors hit with +1 weapons. the eles can actually KILL relevant enemies [balors] whereas the animate deads are just tanks... again, might be that my install is buggy...
A balor should rip an elemental to shreds if not kill them outright with gaze attacks. They do hit with +bonus to weapon which is nice but they die in seconds to anything remotely relevant in my game. I would say the starter dungeon and maybe the slavers but thats it. Beholders will kill them instantly, vampires will kill them instantly, any demon will kill them instantly, obv liches dragons mages will just death spell, maybe vs spectrals? Their ac and stat score is pretty bad I just don't see them surviving against anything that isn't a low level human tbh. I'll try summoning one or two and seeing what happens though. Thanks for watching and commenting friend! (The psychic battle was removed because the spells were already super weak, it didn't help much tho tbh.)
@@Davaeornlol yeah i mean once you get past the mid game they lose their luster of course, but man for CH2/CH3 think they're pretty awesome... i certainly wouldnt bother with them once you get into CH6/TOB. but idk even then i was just doing chapter 5 today and downed the balor with korgan + 2 elementals and they output such a heavy load of damage. they didnt do any tanking of course demon level enemies will shred them instantly. disagree with vampires, minus tanova/bodhi they were able to clear all of CH3 alone as well as the vampire nest in windspear. am on insane, although to be fair i do not have difficulty-based damage checked off, my scs deactivates that by default and i like that it that way lol
@@tcriv They shouldn't be taking double damage anyways since they're a summon, I don't see how they're not dying instantly to a wave of vampires though if you have SCS installed, vampire thac0 is pretty good, especially the ancient / elders in windspear. Against the AC of an elemental, they should land 100% of their attacks, they should die of level drain / disintegration in the first round if they make it 6 seconds I'll be surprised tbh. I've seen planetars die to vampires I don't know how they're not dying instantly in your game lol. I think the problem here is the mods we must not have the same components / tweaks installed.
@@Davaeornlol my scs is maxed out. every tactical component is running + insane. only other mod i have is ascension and the tweak pack for like ammo stacks and minor shit like that. maybe im being disingenuous when i say they are soloing vampire nests, i mean i buff them with chant and haste and shit and pump out some spells to top off fights etc. whenever i get to early BG2 i get kinda scared (no reloads man it gets stressful) so i play super safe,. an edwin-pumped earth elemental frontline never ever fails to get me to safely reach chapter 5. when you talk about liches and high lvl demon armys and stuff at that point yeah they're not worth wasting auras on, but i like them a lot for the stronghold portion of the game. thx for responding its fun to talk about the game with others. been playing on/off since release & still never finished a full trilogy no-reload.
@@tcriv I'll give em another try I literally haven't used them in years because they melted so fast, maybe something changed Idk. I just cant imagine them doing anything but dying instantly to like, any pack of mobs in the game that isn't stupidly low level. Vamps, golems, low level trolls or yuan ti packs maybe? But even then that's just the REALLY low level ones, spirit trolls love to spam greater command and I doubt you're giving them chaotic commands too and the yuan ti mages get death spell too. Idk. I'll try em again though, thanks for commenting friend!
Yo Dav! Don't forget to mention that IH doubles regeneration, too. (For some time, I was slightly considering getting a small tattoo of IH icon. Too Mercury, though)
contingency is good for dragon disciple roleplay, 3 fireballs in a sequencer and a sunfire in contingency with the on hit condition, invis yourself, waltz into enemies, detonate fireballs on yourself, with a fire resistance item you actually heal yourself with fire damage, useless against high level enemies but a nice roleplay aspect that the dragon disciple can just nuke everything around him and heal himself with the flames
Do you know a mod called spell revisions? It's almost like if the author watched your videos and buffed/debuffed the spells accordingly! I'd love if you could make a video of it!
I kinda have an idea how to improve summons monster summons always summon 3 monsters they level with you .....spider spawns summon a swarm of 7 tiny spiders carrion mutate makes them stronger like animal summoning bears conjure lesser elemental is conjure elemental conjure elemental is conjure higher elemental max summon count is 9 I think now most of it is fixed
The tough part of that is then you have a low level spell that scales too well, animate dead (cleric level 3) is useful even in ToB, seems a bit strong imo :( idk tho.
I've got a question for you my dude! Great content btw, your channel is now my bg2 bible🤣. Ok. So I'm a multi-fighter thief. I am currently backstabbing with the staff of rhynn and the one that has charges (forget the name, the one you get in Durlags in Bg1, and the same weapon can be bought from temple of lothander in bg2). I love it. Blunt damage=best damage. Here is the question. I wanna dual wield with my next pips. belm and kundan both have a speed factor of 0; meaning that my backstabs hit with these low damage weapons instead of my main hand (with a higher speed factor). So how in the world do i get the extra attack per round from the offhand while making sure my backstabs hit with the main hand? Is that even possible? How do thieves dual wield and backstab in this game? Or are these weapons only for monks/druids/shadowdancers Who dont backstab? Thanks!
@@Davaeornlol wow! That is the best possible answer! So I was on the right track: Combine the scmitar/belm, get max number of attacks per round you can possibly get, and use assas. HLA so all these attacks count as stabs for 1 round. Thanks man!
Flesh to stone and Disintegration are the spells of my teenage years, where you'd pretend to be that badass evil mage going around the city and destroying citizens with your awesome might like insects... yes its very lame, but yes it is also very satisfying when your 13 years old.
Wyvern Call may not be cr@p. It won’t last through to TOB, but as a summons, the poison is exceptional. From the Wiki: 2 attacks per round First attack does 2d8 crushing damage Second attack does 1d6 piercing damage and 5 poison damage/second for 20 seconds on-hit on a failed save vs poison with a -4 penalty (stacks with itself). A hundred points of damage in 20 seconds?! Sounds nasty…Thac0 is 10, though. Needs strength buffs…possibly Blood Rage.🤭
Imo no since when using tensers you become a "fighter" losing access to your thief abilities and thief HLA's. That being said use any item still works so you could technically still change equipment around, but you are no longer able to cast spells via mage, tho u can read scrolls still as a thief. I have a very low opinion of this spell because either A. It prevents you from casting spells which is fucking horrendously bad or B. it doesn't prevent you from further spell casting in which case it's extremely good since it's a massive boost of raw stats.
Unfortunately spell immunity divination is purposely broken for party members, because if it wasn't you would be invulnerable against mages so it really does make sense, still a shame though. Thanks for commenting friend!
Doesn't Pierce Magic reduce their magic resistance by less then a Lower Resistance would? I believe Pierce Magic is 1% per caster level, while Lower Resistance and Pierce Shield are actually 10% + 1% per caster level. I don't know why Pierce Magic doesn't get the full effect, but that makes it hard for me to justify it as a replacement to Lower Resistance for a Sorcerer. Is trading a 6th level for a 5th level worth that loss?
Couple things, pierce magic hits liches, liches are immune to lower resist (level 5 spell), most importantly for a sorc at level 5 there are a TON of spells u wanna take, at level 6, not so much, so if you're playing a sorc u can take pierce magic at 6, and not take LR at 5, which is nice for saving and planning spells. Most importantly, you are almost never going to use this just by itself, you're going to launch 3 of them in a spell trigger, spell triggers can be memorized before a fight then u can drop those spells and rest, so it doesn't matter what spell level it is since u dont have it memorized off hand anyway. By the time you're using triggers on enemies, you're going to have enough mage levels to where the 1% is still going to be enough in a trigger to drop somethings MR to zero with the exception of planetars which I really wouldn't recommend fighting with this strat unless you had a ton of mages with you, in which case they can always cast an LR or 2 themselves.
i gotta disagree with you about tenser's transformation. there are some interesting things you can do with this spell, but your character has to be part fighter. i'm generally berserker -> mage. i switch to mage at level 13. one thing i enjoy doing is having a full party but soloing most of the fights, and tenser's allows you to do that. you buff up in all the spell protections, improved haste, etc, then do tenser's last just before running into battle, and it's insane how quickly you kill the toughest enemies (i do insane difficulty but haven't tried scs yet, maybe it's not as effective in scs, not sure). another thing you can do if you really want to still cast spells, is do a simulacrum, then do the same buffing as before, but on your simulacrum clone and let them be an extra buffed fighter.
This is the spell that is probably the most affected by SCS. Mages with SCS are much, much smarter with dispelling protections and much more annoying to break through their own. In the base game you can steam roll anything with tensers and imp haste, in SCS it's a BAD spell to cast because you're effectively silenced (you can't cast any magic with tensers up, as it literally changes you to a pure fighter). The problem is, you don't wear armor because you're a fighter mage, so you eat every auto. I have a playthrough up where I lost a stoneskin and went from 187 hp to zero in 0.17 seconds. Granted, I should have refreshed my stoneskin that wasn't tensers fault, but you see how quickly you can die in this game without protections. Let's say a mage drops a planetar on your head, if you don't have pfmw up, or the ability to cast spell immunity to the incoming insect plague, you're in very deep shit. I can't ever condone a spell that silences you, unless it gave you something very powerful defensive wise, and while tensers DOES add a bit of HP, it's not enough to make up for the silence effect. Thanks for watching and commenting friend!
Okay, my fighter, mage cleric just got his 12th lv at mage. He is only awarded one 6th lv spell at this time. If you were I, which 6th lv spell would you choose above all others. Yes, I know that it depends on the situation and on the enemies, but if you had to pick the spell that you think you would use the most and have ready, which spell would it be?
all those amazing self protections that wizards cast on themselves and only on themselves.. do you feel that this makes fighter/mage the best class in the game? or that KENSAI with buffs/debuffs from his team is the best thing come ToB end game, where his THAC0 and damage are supreme?
fighter dual to mage is the best class combo in the game with berserker mage being actually the best, kensai dual to mage is definitely worse, but still better than every other class combo in the game.
@@Davaeornlol why not Kensai? are the immunities not achievable though mage spells or is the convenience of wearing armor in BG1 all the difference? you can get +4 dmg and -4 THAC0 from 12-13th level kensai
Thanks for your feedback about Tensers. I always respected this spell, especially because you could get about 250HP on a fighter/mage and comes with defense buffs when going in. Me myself when I used Tenser's transformation. I gave it to Imoen to beat up the ice dragon. I gave her the Black Blade of Disaster + kundane + improved haste and all the defense buffs a mage would have then slapped Tenser at the end. I had Ward as a blade in this runthrough and made him a tank so the warriors could come in. While he was avoiding damage, I had Keldorn & Sarevok & Imoen attacking. He would knock back everyone and turn into the ice dragon, sent in the planetars in to get him to drop his dispel magic spells. Ward went back to tanking and I was absolutely surprised how much more damage Imoen was doing compared to my other front fighters. I can understand what you're saying about this spell, it's extremely risky. Especially if it's a one time no save. I just enjoyed smashing everything with BBoD, lol :D
Nothing wrong with that at all buddy lol. The point of the game is to enjoy yourself. Heaven knows how many massacres I started in athkatla when I was a kid just for the hell of it. I'm probably the only guy on the planet who never did a single mission in any of the GTA games, I just went around town causing as much damage as I could before the military finally overwhelmed me. Fun stuff. Thanks for commenting and watching friend God bless!
I'm going to be 33 in March, so I was around 13 when the game came out. I had Vanilla Baldur's Gate CDs in the white sleeves and didn't know anything about recruiting party members. So it was just me and Imoen shooting arrows together as I was a pure elf thief and Imoen was a thief and we were both level 10. We made it all the way until I got to the doppelgangers where Sarevok was exposed. I thought I beat the game when I made it there because I was shooting arrows of detonation. I thought I beat the game despite the death screen popping up. lol! Thank you very much and God Bless you to!
i guess i dont really understand Hit Dice... so if i cast that death spell against a mage, it kills the mage, regardless of his level? are characters "creatures" as well or only monsters are creatures? i thought death was garbage because i would think "they wouldnt make an instant kill spell that can hit any decent enemy right?" but you classify it as S tier, so not sure what can i target with the spell. Prob going to give it a try tho.
There are a ton of monsters that can be killed by death spell, it will also one shot most summons. By the time you get death, you're not gonna be able to kill mages with it, but it will work on a lot of enemies that spawn in packs, especially in the base game. Trolls, myconids, orcs, ambushes, these are what I use it for the most and it is dynamite at taking them out.
@@Davaeornlol damn thanks man! replying to a comment on a video that is over a year ago really shows that you support your fans! Now, if you dont mind one more question... This game is a masterpiece, and after i found that there is an add on (SCS) to make the game more challenging im almost thinking of doing another run for the good old times, but how do i know that this addon is working? that and Tweaks Anthology? im playing gog BGEE I and BGEE II, and ive just download these two, but at the end the windows tell me "this program wasnt installed sucessfully" so i was just wondering. Also, making it more than one questions hehe, does it work for saved games, or new games? what about The Black Pits??? anyways thanks for the reply man, just found your channel and im loving your videos.
@@waylonqueiroz7895 I'd recommend making a new game and attacking firebeard or one of the other mages in candleekeep. If they immediately throw up a few spell protections and your chat log says "spell protection cast previously" or something like that, you're good to go, assuming you have that component installed ofc. I try to check my dashboard everday and luckily my channel is small enough that if someone comments in reply to me, I can see it and respond. Hope it works for you friend good luck!
@@Davaeornlol thanks my dude! will test that soon, hopefully it works! now i go to BG I 's Candlekeep to "accidentally" attack a mage, and i leave behind a video idea for you to make a class tier list, if you got any spare time and are interested, i would certainly watch that, and of course keep it up with the runs! thanks again man! that will really help.
Terrible, can't cast spells with it up. It's just a death sentence 99% of the time, and the 1% of the time where it's safe to cast, you definitely don't need it at all.
Late to the video, great content as usual! I think Tenser could be useful for Cleric/Mage or Thief/Mage, or Bard. Overrated yes, but deserves a B-tier, IMHO, especially comparing it to something like Carrion Summons.
The problem is casting tensers prevents you from casting additional mage spells, so no PfMW, no fire arrows/skulltraps/breach/whatever. If you could cast WITH tensers up, it would be 100% S+ Tier, but since you can't, it's shit.
40:08 I watched the entire video and I'm conclusion is this, Lv6 spell should be called "you wizards Improved haste spell's :D" or YWIHAS :D (summon spiders are better than Lv6 summons thy combo with web -.-)
I like his personality a lot, but more importantly he was the first character in a rpg that really shit all over my party. I killed irenicus and kangaxx on my first try they weren't even close tbh, but davaeorn smashed us. In the original game his spells are much nastier and when you're rolling for hp (not max hp on level up) it's possible for your entire party to get one shot instantly by his magic. As an adult it's an easy fight, but when I was a kid I was like damn, this guy is a BEAST I cant WAIT to be a wizard like him, you know what I mean? Dude is teleporting around summoning a buttload of ogres and dropping fire and lightning like a boss.
Have you tried throwing the Conjure Elementals into a Contingency / Spell Trigger to see how that messes with them? Tenser's sucks, yeah. Loved it as a kid, to see comical Fighter/Mage HP, but yeah, sucks. If it didn't share the same level as PFMW, then I would memorize one as a final "Out of protections, fuck you, hail mary" kind of spell for a Fighter/Mage. I can however give Flesh to Stone a small buff to C, by the fact that the enemy can be reverted (To 1 HP) and then slapped, getting it's loot. It's a little awkward and risky, but you could pull it off in a safe situation. It also can be used in a Spell Trigger (There's a Lich in the Shade Lord's dungeon that 3x Flesh to Stone Spell Triggers you), so you could use it as a "Fuck you" triple nuke Spell Trigger. I'm also not a fan of the awkward, convoluted bullshitty ways to make a spell or strategy actually work though.
30:08 well 1 best damage spell in the game on lv6 as HORRENDOUSLY bad it is it is the only damage spel on lv6 :D,2 it damages a Lich :D Yes it dos and it matters sadly lol. 3 its Aria damage. And finally i agree is RP tier :D but you can use in situations :D for nothing better lets say ...this will sound horrible your lv3 slots are us up :DDDD. In this game there is no proper damage spell aside Lv3 slots and Lv8 :D as terrible this is Chain lightning, and delayed fireball (Lv8) is going to be your only exception :D
Tenser's Transformation is ok on core rules.... but also still kills the theme of mages for me. I've taken it as a last result potential and never used it.
Yeah perhaps, it really doesn't add too much imo tho. If you're a fighter mage you don't need it and if you're a pure mage you're lacking apr so badly it just doesn't do it for me.
Tenser is almost only useful on core for prebuffed bards, for beating warrior areas with some few spells. They become better than other warriors because the higher levels at same exp. And bard buffs also last longer. Anyways if something fade off, it gets dangerous to continue Meleing
34:17 Not true, actually. Globe of invulnerability does protect from AoE. I still agree with the rating and that it's just mostly worthless at this stage. Is there even a level 4 spell I'm worrying about when enemy casts it (otherwise minor globe would be just as fine)? Greater Malison maybe? Not confusion, because even in BG1 they cast Chaos. Not ice storm, because lol. Not fireshields (and I don't even think it'd help, I haven't tried, but why is your mage hitting a dude with fireshield up with a melee weapon????). Secret word doesn't care, Teleport Field doesn't do anything against a mage. Contagion? LMAO. Emotion: Hopelessness? I don't think I've ever seen an enemy cast that and I completed SCS BG multiple times. Wow, there's literally no spell that this shit would help against compared to simple Minor Globe. It might actually be RP tier, it lasts the same duration as Spell Immunity even and that fucking thing would protect you from Malison AND other nasty enchantment spells. And it's level lower. Big, big pass.
At the time of this video there was a bug that prevented aoe spells from being blocked properly (as well as elemental spells still interrupting you despite having complete immunity). I need to update the series tbh XD
Actually I have faund the tenser's transformation preatty usefull on HaerDalis for example.. but first You casting some other buffs and protrction, then he is like a fuckin tank.. no other figter can match him at some moments.. especially with dismiss and blades of disasters.. all fighters can do nothing to him
@@Davaeornlol but he basically gets so much buffs to hp, thaco , armor that he doesnt need other spell that much at this point..he still got some previously mentioned buffs.. maybe for super long battles is dangerous
42:38 yep (I totaly agree with you) this is a disgrace of a spell :D if you want a fighter over a wizard why did you even make one ?:D I ead it and i was like no.....just no :D you are going to atack with wand? over 2 katana's that your fighter can do? Want better fighter just give your fighter a haste :D
If you cast a power word silence on a mage (with vecna or amulet of power) in SCS before his pre-cast spells go off, none of them will fire and he will be stuck butt naked taking a round to vocalize. Abusing the system, sure, but you know, some days, fuck mages.
really can't say enough good things about these videos
Alas poor yorick, thanks for watching and commenting buddy!
Definitely watch this shit boys
The world is your oyster, Yorick
S tier all the way
Really can't say enough good things about this comment
These videos are strangely soothing to watch, even though i haven't played BG in years.
I'm glad you enjoy them, thanks for watching friend.
Old death spell could kill all trolls spirit included as well, basically you could one shot all of darnise keep, was very very good.
@@Davaeornlol You get a full agree from me. very good indeed; And a very nice way for a game to tell you that "OH! BTW, your powerful now"
Wyvern is a S+++++ tier since summon a dragon-like creature is cool and wyvern are cute.
Agreed
I've found the fire elemental (I assume this also goes for the other elementals) is excellent in places like the Temple Ruins and the tombs in the graveyard district, because it is immune to +1 weapons and less - so the staple undead (shadows, ghasts, skeleton warriors etc.) can't damage it at all, while it wrecks them in reply. Not sure if it also works against shadow fiends. But having the elemental scout ahead completely took away the risk of getting stat & level drained.
Nice! Thanks for watching and commenting friend!
I just did exactly this and it made it so easy. It made the shadow dragon easy too...after I death warded the elementals.
I love your stuff man, just got into baldurs gate and you make learning all the weird mechanics of the game really fun, love you bro
Glad you enjoy it! Love u 2 bro
Thanks for watching and commenting buddy!
It's on the ground floor right by the flail head.
wrong.
@@Teo-uw7mh Stone to Flesh.
You should do a c tier only run, solo for even more flavor
I have thought about choosing sub-optimal to shit spells only but I can't stand solo runs, that's all I did as a kid and I found them to be boring and lifeless. It's the party and bants that make baldurs gate special imo. Thanks for watching and commenting friend!
Totally agree but I meant flavor as in giving weird spells screen time, wacky, unconventional solutions and such :) But by all means, a party with c tier / unconventaional spells + itemization would be awesome too!
Awesome guide, good job. I'm new to the game and this is really helpful. Can't wait for level 7,8 and 9 ones ;)
Thanks for watching friend, God bless
46:01
I just imagine you doing your grocery shopping and this sweet little old lady comes up to you and starts telling you just how good Tenser's Transformation *really* is 😂
ITS HAPPENED I SWEAR
34:14 'most of the spells you're gonna get hit with are AoE and that goes right through the globe'
I guess you don't read too well.
Enema Dead is definitely one of my favorite spells
That sounds like a very uncomfortable spell indeed
Globe of Invulnerability:
35:00 That's inaccurate Dav, the spell works against AoE.
For sure! Yeah that's one of the reasons I'm not a big fan of multiclasses. Thanks for watching friend, God bless!
A party should always have a mage. It’s a simple rule that I live by.
I love to watch video of this kind. People who eats entire game and it systems sharing their knowledge.
Thanks for watching and commenting buddy
Pretty sure I’ve caught Dav using some chain lightening on stream lately!! 😂 amazing how you can still find new uses for spells this long after release!
Contingency can effect enemies if it's a neutral spell that can target caster. Like dispel magic targets all but can cast on a character.
Good point! Thanks for watching and commenting friend!
Can you please do a spell guide for sorcerers?
Btw, love all your guides
It’s the same. You just chose 5 of the s tier spells if you want the best setup 🤷♂️
The world is your oyster!! Thanks for all the hours of guides man.
Never realized trolls were susceptible to death spell, that's freaking awesome.
Yeah in the base game even spectral and spirit trolls die to it, it's absurdly strong. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Actually in the base game, death spell followed by fire/acid dmg wwould give double xp.
Idk)
So I summon one, it's a 12 HD one, I send it vs 1st group and it dies in 4 seconds.
At this point I'm thinking even Chan the prince of air wouldn't be able to deal with those fucking slimes in the first dungeon and get out unscathed.
One big disadvantage (or a bug) of True Sight in SCS is that it dispells blind on enemies. So if you used Nature's Beauty you probably don't want to cast TS on top of that.
Interesting indeed thanks for watching and commenting friend!
Nice! Thanks for watching friend!
Improved haste turning mages into machine guns is the last incentive I needed to get an actual computer and play this game
It's amazing tbh especially if you have a lot of them
A Pentium 4 would do :D
happy new year, nice videos
I always use tenser's transformation on haer dalis when i don't intend to cast spells with him in a fight. It gives him extra HP, improves his thaco and makes him pretty good in a frontline.
Happy new year and what a great present to start it off.
Happy new year to you as well!
Multiple mages with Melf's minute meteors? That's magically magnificent!
Hell yeah! Thanks for watching and commenting friend!
At long last! Awesome as always!!
Thanks for watching!
I actually like Tensers. But only as a last spell trick for blades like Haer Dalis before level 20, when he becomes better than your other warriors cause higher level table, and have not more spells protections to recast more than one or two stoneskins/images
This is only if I'm self restricting about multiple sleeps of course, and in need to tank foes dealing damage at the same time.
He can usually attack 3-6 times if hasted if using Kundane or Scarlet, or 4-8 with them both with very good Thaco.

At least it’s a positive catchphrase haha
I cleared almost the whole 2nd area of the temple with fire giants with Imoen without taking any damage.
yeah tensers without scs is pretty spicy indeed. Sorry for respondin so late, thanks for watching and commenting friend!
Exactly.. is deus ex machine
Thanks for watching and commenting friend :)
Actually I think the spirit animals from Druid subclass has those abilities and more. I usually turn jaheria into a totem Druid fighter.😛
For some reason, I seem to have missed Far sight on your list. If you covered it, great. I think it is b tier, situationally useful, but wizard eye does the same and is mobile. Also, clerics get it.
#1 Protection from magical energy

i use nishruu to cheese liches, i cast one and leave the room and reenter until the lich is out of spells, tbh im not actually sure the nishruu does anything now lol but it seems to run out faster with it (although its faster overall to just not summon anything and dont let it follow you outside but you cant always do that)
With my mods nishruu cant hit them at all and they're killed by special spells they have :L.
Make a simulacrum, cast black blade of disaster, cast tenser's transformation. Buff it with original mage and a cleric. Scary stuff
Seriously, for Sorcerer who only gets 5 picks, what do you leave out?
you can see the power creep when wyvern and invisible stalker are your summons, and not that effecive ones too...
would there be a situation where you fight a target you would use flesh to stone or disintegrate but loot isn't a concern?
Mislead... I always use that spell on my bard. This shadow clone can not attack but it can play bard songs when my original bard fights or cast spells
Idk
I see stone to flesh stops all possessions, would this include charms? Never tried.
I think you're underrating Conjure Earth Elemental (dunno about the other ones, never use em)... just cleared the entirety of CH2/CH3 with edwin spamming nothing but conjure earth elementals, buffing them up, and racing them through the dungeons (well minus the dragons/kangaxx/twisted rune etc)... dunno if my mods are messing with the spell since theres no psychic battle in my config (SCS+insane/g3tweaks/ascension is all i got...). the text says there should be a psychic battle but there isnt. i think that might be a holdover from classic but i guess my install could be buggy. i know animate dead is still better but lvl 12, 13, and 14 take up a decent chunk of SoA.
real quick unbuffed stat breakdown
earth elemental - 96 hp, average 19 dmg/round (crushing), available from lvl 12
skeleton warrior - 80 hp(but plethora of resistances of course), average 29 dmg/round (slashing), available from lvl 15
i think the biggest difference, however, is earth elementals hit with +3 weapons and skeleton warriors hit with +1 weapons. the eles can actually KILL relevant enemies [balors] whereas the animate deads are just tanks...
again, might be that my install is buggy...
Idk. Second single: S tier all the way.

contingency is good for dragon disciple roleplay, 3 fireballs in a sequencer and a sunfire in contingency with the on hit condition, invis yourself, waltz into enemies, detonate fireballs on yourself, with a fire resistance item you actually heal yourself with fire damage, useless against high level enemies but a nice roleplay aspect that the dragon disciple can just nuke everything around him and heal himself with the flames
Super fun for sure
During my first playthrough like 20 yeras ago i spent like an hour trying to disintegrate that shadow dragon Thax. Litol did I know.... :D
Do you know a mod called spell revisions? It's almost like if the author watched your videos and buffed/debuffed the spells accordingly! I'd love if you could make a video of it!
It's been suggested several times I'm going to give it a go at some point. Thanks for watching and commenting friend!
can someone tell me how I can get 6th (or higher) level mage spells in the original vanilla BG1? (I removed the xp cap)
Can't unfortunately if you're playing the og original as the game wasn't coded to have them.
Thanks!
Backstab rolls only use MH weapons so feel free to dual wield whatever you want, even if you're using assassination HLA it should only roll MH.
@@Davaeornlol wow!
That is the best possible answer!
So I was on the right track:
Combine the scmitar/belm, get max number of attacks per round you can possibly get, and use assas.
Yep for RP purposes it's great
Wyvern Call may not be cr@p. It won’t last through to TOB, but as a summons, the poison is exceptional.
From the Wiki:
2 attacks per round
First attack does 2d8 crushing damage
Second attack does 1d6 piercing damage and 5 poison damage/second for 20 seconds on-hit on a failed save vs poison with a -4 penalty (stacks with itself).
A hundred points of damage in 20 seconds?! Sounds nasty…Thac0 is 10, though. Needs strength buffs…possibly Blood Rage.🤭
The poison is nerfed in bg2 :(
Good guide, keep them up
Thanks for watching friend.
22:07 rules supreme
Would tensers transformation work well on a shadowdancer using a scroll or a thief/mage?
Imo no since when using tensers you become a "fighter" losing access to your thief abilities and thief HLA's. That being said use any item still works so you could technically still change equipment around, but you are no longer able to cast spells via mage, tho u can read scrolls still as a thief. I have a very low opinion of this spell because either A. It prevents you from casting spells which is fucking horrendously bad or B. it doesn't prevent you from further spell casting in which case it's extremely good since it's a massive boost of raw stats.
@@Davaeornlol appreciate it. It's one of those spells I never got much use out of, but I always want to take.
wonder if spell immunity is useful to keep people from seeing through a mislead.
@@Davaeornlol Hmm. Fair points all. So if you were planning a Solo Sorc, you think you'd skip Lower Resist?
Edit: Oh, and thanks for the reply!
My Berserker/Mage lvl 13/19 + Tenser's Transformation + Enrage = 350 HP, -15 AC, THAC0 -16/-14 with FoA & DoE.
great vid, very helpful!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
How can it be that there's no video on YT showing all BG spell animations? That would make lots of views.
I think there is one for og but not new ones.
i gotta disagree with you about tenser's transformation. there are some interesting things you can do with this spell, but your character has to be part fighter. i'm generally berserker -> mage. i switch to mage at level 13. one thing i enjoy doing is having a full party but soloing most of the fights, and tenser's allows you to do that. you buff up in all the spell protections, improved haste, etc, then do tenser's last just before running into battle, and it's insane how quickly you kill the toughest enemies (i do insane difficulty but haven't tried scs yet, maybe it's not as effective in scs, not sure). another thing you can do if you really want to still cast spells, is do a simulacrum, then do the same buffing as before, but on your simulacrum clone and let them be an extra buffed fighter.
Improved haste.
all those amazing self protections that wizards cast on themselves and only on themselves.. do you feel that this makes fighter/mage the best class in the game? or that KENSAI with buffs/debuffs from his team is the best thing come ToB end game, where his THAC0 and damage are supreme?
fighter dual to mage is the best class combo in the game with berserker mage being actually the best, kensai dual to mage is definitely worse, but still better than every other class combo in the game.
@@Davaeornlol why not Kensai? are the immunities not achievable though mage spells or is the convenience of wearing armor in BG1 all the difference? you can get +4 dmg and -4 THAC0 from 12-13th level kensai
@@Davaeornlol I'm wondering if elven fighter/mage is even better for the earlier access to self buffs and the end game critical strikes

What about tensers for fighter mage?
40:08 I watched the entire video and I'm conclusion is this, Lv6 spell should be called "you wizards Improved haste spell's :D" or YWIHAS :D
(summon spiders are better than Lv6 summons thy combo with web -.-)
Why to pick a name Davaeorn? Was the Irenicus, Firkraag or Kangaxx already taken?
Interesting, thanks for watching and commenting friend.

You forgot to include that improved haste also doubles regeneration.
You're right, I wanna redo these all at some point because I ended up missing shit / playing a lot since
@@Davaeornlol Btw meant to tell you if you do neera's quest you can buy 2 more scrolls of spell immunity in the red wizard enclave.
Ah
pfmw - one of the most absolute busted things in the game. I love it.
Same, God bless thanks for watching!
Actually I have faund the tenser's transformation preatty usefull on HaerDalis for example.. but first You casting some other buffs and protrction, then he is like a fuckin tank.. no other figter can match him at some moments.. especially with dismiss and blades of disasters.. all fighters can do nothing to him
With mods it's just super dangerous to do so and losing spellcasting for that long succckkkss
@@Davaeornlol but he basically gets so much buffs to hp, thaco , armor that he doesnt need other spell that much at this point..he still got some previously mentioned buffs.. maybe for super long battles is dangerous
Bussin
Thanks for commenting friend, I try to avoid that on purpose lol, but sometimes yeah, fuck mages.
