Exactly right! Thank you so much for this video. The army guy looks so out of place. He is too tall and the camera has to move around to fit him in. So Shocking the YMCA movements are removed from the video also!
There were 6 original Village People. 6, Victor Willis who was the policeman. David Hodo was the Construction Worker, Alex Briley was the Serviceman i.e. soldier, sailor. Randy Jones was the Cowboy. Glenn Hughes was the Leatherman, Felipe Rose was the Native American. 6. Victor, David, Randy, Alex, Glenn, and Felipe.
There were 7 to begin with. Then, group members changed, and then, it got down to the "core" group of 6. Then, Victor Willis (the front singer) was replaced by Ray Simpson.
This is crazy bc i always knew there were 5 PLUS the singer, making 6. I thibk most people rememeber 5 because they were always 5 in line. With the singer moving around the stage
You know the village people technically do the song right. 10 or so years ago. The YMCA changed it nickname to "the Y". Now the group kinda does only one letter. Thus, keeping true to the song. "Jul 12, 2010 CultureMap Houston When news broke that the Y.M.C.A. is mangling its moniker to simply go by "the Y," CultureMap went straight to the people who would be hit hardest by the acronym rupture: The Village People." "7/12/2010 TMZ "The Village People were caught with their pants down last week when the YMCA announced it will be changing its name to "the Y" -- but fear not ... our costumed heroes claim they're standing firm when it comes to their most famous hit." BTW the TMZ page has interesting residue. Theres an image of 6 member. But the Caption under the image "The cop, the Indian, the construction worker, the cowboy and the biker just released a statement to TMZ, saying they're all "deeply dismayed" by the organization's name change ... which could have serious ramifications on the greatest song ever based around an acronym."
i remember 5... i never saw the 6th (soldier) until 2016
6 originally

This one is blowing my mind! There have always been 5!
There were only 5.... Motorcycle cop, cowboy, construction worker, indian, biker. No soldier.
This is insane.

Btw, the "YMCA dance" with the arms and such was NEVER done by the original group. It was originated by the dancers on American Bandstand.
They still adopted it...I watched the group perform in 2004. This was their finale song and every gesture was done.
