Fact: Dart defeats criminals by simply smacking them with her severely oversized head.
"Silver Surfer's sex-crazed sister." Well it was good alliteration.
I was expecting a Dan Garrett joke when Dart got hit in the back of her head.
Well you kind of made one now
So someone sends you a comic to review with a note asking to review this and included a hundred bucks? Is this a literal moment of someone saying "Shut up and take my money"?
more like ''shut up and let me take your money!''
Mistress Brouhaha looks like a Chinese rip-off Bayonetta.
Everything about Bayonetta looked silly, but not like a bootleg.
Waaaaaay prior to her
hey, hey hey! bayonetta is hot, she's basixcly dominatrix sarah palin and whatever your views on palin is policticly is irrelevant, she's a super hot MILF as is bayoneta, except not so much a MILF, sdespite what bayo 1 might lead you to believe (ah time travel and bad japanese writting)
@@ColeVecsion what a cursed comment.
...okay, I'm just gonna say it, that cover makes Dart look like Pamela Anderson. Like, Barb Wire Pamela Anderson.
+TheHeroOfTomorrow or stripperella since she voices the character who a crime fighter who is also blond
"DON'T CALL ME BABE!!!"
I know a store that has some classic Forest Folk™ toys. They keep them in a display case right next to the Kooba Cola machine.
Dart's looks like she has the face of Yellow Diamond
no wonder yellow diamond hates earth even as early as the nineties people are copying her
Yeah, she was in a weird place after Pink died
That is one of the best Esher Girls I have seen for a while.
So the artist lady wasn't Dart? Then why did the story focus on her. Issue 1 should establish the lead and what the story is going to be (darker, comedic, adventure, etc.), hinting at the villains larger plan, not focusing on it.
+Eugenideddis The "evil plan" also appears to be rather pedestrian for a 90s Image comic featuring lots of weird characters.
In essence, it seems to only revolve around using somebody's likeness in a product without their permission - how unbelievably nefarious !
The only way to stop this is... THE PHAYLUS! Only he can stop these bootlegs!
It's hilarious that Obscurus Lupa just posted her review for the EXTREMELY 90s film "Airbourne" the same day Linkara posts this EXTREMELY 90s comic book. Oh 90s, sometimes I wonder why I ever liked you....
Stockholm Syndrome mostly.
Um... What part of the '90s did you live in, because I experienced the best of American animation, the peak of rock music, and some pretty decent cinema.
Ah, you lived in the 80s. I wasn't born then.
All the good 90s movies were either Spielberg or cartoons
It was also the Dark Age of comics, there were Roland Emmerich movies and the beginning of Michael Bay, the music was terrible, and the games were frustratingly hard and abstract, with only a few I remember having fun playing
Linkara, here's just a suggestion, you're free to ignore it, but have you thought about making two different 'tiers' of Patreon-sponsored reviews? Like doing a slot where you'll look at, say, three comics for short reviews all stuck onto one episode (8 minute reviews for a 24 minute episode, maybe?) and the other slot being a full review. That way, more people will get to see their sponsored reviews go up. You can make it be slightly more than a third of the full slot's price so you get even more revenue.
Patreon Quickies! I love this idea and wish he would do that. Comics only, and the other slot is anything you want like usually.
2:40 DAMMIT! *(put money and shipping box away)*
+Brodie Crain
I know. But hey. What can we do?
truly of everything going on in image comics the most graphic thing is a dart in the butt
Morning… in a city that doesn't care.
Oh yeah, bad comic? Morning doesn't care about the city either.
Lots of Yu-Gi-Oh! Abridged references
That's never a bad thing though.
Y'know, when your super power is throwing darts pretty well, you need to conmsider some life choices, do you
1- dress in a silver onsey and fight crime as a laughibly lame "super hero"?
2- move to london and start a gambling scheme of throwing darts in pubs?
3- make a youtube video about it
4- shrug and get a real job cause the ability to throw things fairly well is kinda limited
Ungreatful Duck
he's an insane b-tier villian who occasionaly has terminal brain tumors, i'm going to say disagree :P
+ColeVecsion insane b-teir villian does not equal poor financial situation just look at task Master
To be honest it's less of a superpower and more talented individual.
hilariously, she DID have a real job initially: as a superpowered member of the police force. she quite because they wanted her to wear a uniform and her use of dart was seen as excessive force.
@@ColeVecsion B-tier is pretty good for a Marvel villain. It's not like DC, where all the villains are bigger names than the heroes at this point.
"this comics sucks" seems like an understatement
Surprised there wasn't a Capcom and Megaman joke during the forest folk toy company scene.
I understood the creepy rhyme to be 1. A creepy rhyme, 2. A rape threat (kissed the girls and made them cry) otherwise it's just as good to sing Hickory Dickory Dock, as was said
“But if you didn’t know the word, why would you…”
You may or may not have noticed, but there is a massive portion of people in the world who simply don’t think words before they disgorge them from their face holes.
And there are people who can think of the words they want to say but don't always manage to actually say them right.
1:57 PLEASE tell me someone requested for him to review Danganronpa. I NEED TO SEE LINKARA REACT TO MONOKUMA!!!!
+vcom741 Most likely, but then again, it's actually pretty annoying to manage a patreon account when shit like this happens..
+vcom741 whata monokuma?
Whinnie the Pooh's sociopathic cousin.
Ok not really but he's a plush robot and he eats out of jars of "hunny", I kid you not.
+vcom741 Strangely enough, if you really stretch things, the game glances his genre in a tangent if you take into account the comic strippish closing arguments... sorta, kinda, probably not. XD
My god that would be amazing.
2:47 Oh, this revelation made me so happy! Bless you, Linkara! And bless whoever paid you to do them!
What is it with toy-company owners that makes them crazy psychopaths? Will Brockman join the league of notorious toymakers like Pegasus, Quackerjack and Geoffrey the Giraffe?
"Wooden boards! My one weakness!" Pffffffft, Allan Scott had a weakness to wood BEFORE it was cool.
Hal: your weakness is wood. What happens if some punk comes at you with a stick.
Allan: same thing that happens to you if he paints it yellow.
The aliens from signs sigh in the distance.
I love you linkara! I'm amazed at the the rate you post these videos. I hope life is treating you well and that you are in good health. Keep it up proud of you!
I don't know Linkara: that picture of the artist lady looks kinda cute. Puppy eyes, big lips, and her tragic life make her sympathetic and the artwork of her face doesn't look that bad.
But the rest of the comic does suck, no doubt.
I have to disagree, those massive lips are distracting.
Gat the Man Well, it was my opinion anyway.
Henry T Yeah I know, I'm just surprise it doesn't bother you too.
The artwork is really good, is you the one that doesn't get it
I see what you mean. The vision is there, but the execution is off. With a little tweaking, it could look really good.
12:17 Two of those weren't comma splices; "not even to [p]ee" is clearly a subordinate clause.
2:47 I can't WAIT to see those MLP comic reviews.
And given the ones I've read, I feel like I have a pretty good idea at which ones they're going to be... But I could be wrong. Either way, those are going to be fun to see.
+funcoolfunfun which ones you think it will be? i have a good idea which they will be too
+funcoolfunfun They might even be some of the Gen 1 comics. I remember hearing someone say they sent him some of those.
keiosnirren If it's Gen 4, then it's likely that it's one of the following:
The reflections arc, since that seems to be one of the more criticized ones
The 2014 Annual, aka the Power Ponies one. The connection there should be obvious to those of us fans of both G4 and Linkara
+funcoolfunfun I find the gen 4 MLP comics ugly, gross and overdrawn.
***** The ones I've read had pretty good artstyles.
Linkara loves his Polka Face.
7:57 to be perfectly honest the artwork kind of reminds me of Peter Chung's work. So yeah not liking it.
8:39 Or maybe this woman's Stand is Love Deluxe. YOU MAKE THE CALL!!!
9:10 Speaking of her calves, GOOD LORD HER LEFT LEG LOOKS LIKE SHE HAS A TUMOR THE SIZE OF A GRAPEFRUIT!
12:29 Behold the unholy collaboration of Peter Chung and Hirohiko Araki, weird ass faces and big ass lips, yesh. This whole comic is just ass.
18:21 Mokuba I swear to money if I find out you were involved in this.
+1TrulyMad 8:02 Do you even know what that word means?
8:54 And what's with the rings everywhere?
11:44 What was the reason Image Comics was formed again? Because I am getting some uncomfortable parallels...
12:!2 She looks like someone tried to make a "New Millennium" variant of her costume. LOL
15:24 0_0 ...I'm not touching that one.
19:48 Or maybe you should have given her specific instructions?
Some day, I will get the Patreon slot to make Linkara review the Manga adaptation of Mein Kamph with Bishi Hitler.
And yes, that is a real thing.
Dart: What do you know about my comic?
Linkara: Apparently more than you, you....CLOD!
Dart: HmmMMMmm???
That dominatrix.... are her feets seriously pointing away from us while she is facing us? That's Escher on a whole new level!
aaaannnd as soon as he said he would review an mlp comic in the futrure any brony watching just tuned out the rest of the video and began contemplating which comic it would be; the nightmare rarity story perhaps? I've heard alot of people like that one
Eeyup
As a matter of fact, link, man, I really liked the art style. of course it could have benefitted from a better inker and colorist, but the penciler, I found him interesting, unique and defined. PS: please excuse the missplacement of commas if there is any, I'm actually a Spanish speaker.
You did better then the comic editors.
Are you sure these aren't Araki's rejected character designs halfway through Part III and IV when he was finally learning how to draw?
3:30 those are some massive tracts of land
Patreon is supposed to have a reminder feature to let people know when a slot is open. And then I realize I saved some money to get an online review show to look at either Youngblood Judgment Day or Fist of the North Star. What a time to be alive.
Yeah I;m glad this cheating of the patreon was addressed, I mean hell, I may not have a patreon, namely because well with this show, I love the weekly craps shoot with what he will review. but when he mentioned event comic month as a POSSIBLE thing for 2017, I hope that becomes a yearly thing. I would love to see Secret Wars and Maximum Carnage featured as one of them, like one good event, and 3 bad events given the particular month
I'm actually very excited for him reviewing pony comics. Believe it or not, in general those are excellent especially in the main line. Far darker than you'd expect as well as deeply moving in some storylines
What arc is he dealing with?
atopthefourthwall.com/state-of-the-wall-8-2-16/
Actually it seems to be the one with the deer and theme park
KidSnivy69 which isn't great so....crap...
linkara actually should check out Savage Dragon, its actually really good and satirical
"Forest Gum?" I swear to god if that's a Forest Gump joke I'm going to scream.
Azugo Forrest Gump didn't exist yet
Georgie had mono.
I keep coming back to this review and I keep forgetting what the comic was even about.
I love how Dart says "This is the 90s" in that one panel where she's throwing darts at the guy who's running away and one of her darts ends up in his @$$. (Also another missed opportunity for Linkara)! Wonder if Linkara has any pet peeves regarding the sun being drawn too big (he has a pet peeve when it comes to artists drawing the moon in the sky too big)?
Also, I agree with Linkara's assessment that her face would be fine if they just reigned in the proportions! Still I'd say its better than Rob Liefield, as this artist can actually draw eyes!
Props to Linkara for setting those ground rules regarding attempts to cheat the system regarding Patreon submissions! Still, I guess the comic struck enough of a cord to cause him to decide to do it, but still, it was definitely a good idea to make it clear to people sending him money & a comic won't work in the future, meaning its Patreon or send him a comic without any money & pray he'll decide to review it eventually! I don't have any & I would like to see him review more of Dart! Maybe if he ever decides to do a 90s Month (a month of various 90s comics)!
I'm glad Erik Larsen said this book wasn't canon this was a bad comic
Ah yes, Killcat... master of the fractional entendre.
Linkara: Please follow these simple rules for this system to work.
Somebody: No!
Linkara: _is too nice to say no because he didn't explicitly say ahead of time what he'd do if you didn't just follow the system_
Linkara does one of those things I always hated from elementary school teachers, getting mad for each time the same mistake happnes. If the guy writing thinks something is written a certain way and he's wrong he'll obviously do it the same way each time since it wasn't a mistake but the same misconception.
Big, googly anime eyes. Smaller than some, but a few years before those saucers were in vogue to boot.
Sorry, every time someone talks about Georgie Porgie, all I can think of is The Wolf Among Us and a scrawny punk with a North London accent with a metric ton of tattoos.
you say not to send you money with requests in the mail but what if someone sends you some fruit pies, $1000 and a note that says "eat me"?
The counting gag had me cracking up by the time it hit 7. And I thought editing was in the crapper today.
I mean, it is. Have you ever read any of the articles that get published today? But boy, this is bad.
I think this has been pointed out before but technically Linkara has looked at something Savage Dragon related... well Super Sonic Special #7 had Savage Dragon in it so that technically counts.
Excellent job on this video, Linkara. This is comic book reviewing at your very best. Cheers! B-)
As there is an actual Kaibaman card, that really wouldn't surprise me.
Yeah, were is 90dies kid?
*hells yes! the story-line just got referenced*
I dig the Patreon reviews. I want to see Linkara do more of the big dc/marvel stuff like crossovers. Busting the page-busters.
Would love for the MLP comic to come with a story segment that reveals Princess Celestia and her army of ponies as potential villains preparing for their invasion of Earth!
BigK13372 I was thinking in this case the old Equestria would have been destroyed in a war with a galactic threat--possibly Lord Vyce--and the ponies that are left have been searching the stars for a new home ever since, only to discover Earth...
I made a video about that invasion.
I had no idea hammer pants came in leather...
Yeah, I agree that people sending money just to get a comic reviewed is a bit much, especially to the people trying to support you through Patreon. Though, speaking of support, I'm still hopeful that the movie will be out soon so I can support you too! lol
Anyway, this comic is so 90s it hurts. Looking forward to those eventual MLP comics! :)
A bit of nitpicking: In dialogue, comma splices can be perfectly fine. Commas are used to indicate pauses. And some people will pause in odd places. This can be indicated through comma splices.
This doesn't mean that the editor was doing a good job. He wasn't. But there is a valid defense of comma splices.
“Someone woke up one morning and thought ‘I’m gonna name a character Mistress Brouhaha and get a paycheck for it.’” I mean, to be fair, that's a power-move. Also, why do all the women in this comic look like they just did the Kylie Jenner lip challenge that was briefly a thing back in 2017 or 18 or whenever that was? (Also also, at 7:45, I think the purple-haired doctor is wearing some kind of earpiece, but the way it's positioned against that old dude's teeth, it looks like the guy has some kind of grey snake-tongue.)
10:55
*Linkara:* (sarcastically) Nice comma splice, asshole!
Interestingly, this does attempt to dive into the whole 'super heroes as celebrities' thing that Young Blood was always trying to do.
Missed a spelling error. At 13:01 it should be "bus fare" not "bus-fair".
The Forrest Gum elves look like a Christmas themed Elfquest clone.
Conspiracy theory: MRAs and "Nice Guys" read Image comics in the 90s like the Bible.
BigK13372
Would 90s Kid call them DUUUUUUUUDE Bros?
It was nice to have a Patreon (sort of) review that was actually a bad comic rather than someone desperate to have you validate his taste.
"Where the hell is 90s kid anyway?"
That's something I've been wondering for a while now and now I'm starting to think his recent lack of appearances is somehow plot related because the writing seems pretty good at following the philosophies of Anton Chekhov.
Anton Chekhov? You mean the guy from Star Trek?
/facepalm No, he is not a famous author. Also, his first name is Pavel. Really should google these things before saying something stupid like that. This is the information age, you basically have no valid excuse.
mattwo7
I know who Anton Chekhov is... at least for his gun. I thought it was funny to say something like that, especially with Linkara being a Star Trek fan. And even more since ANTON Yelchin played Pavel CHEKHOV.
That sort of joke doesn't work in text form.
I’m patient enough to wait for the really great (bad) comics. Like zero hour as an example. Sure I’d like to see more comics I like or really hate but I’m a paycheck to paycheck guy. Honestly I hate that.
19:19
I think that hand looks bad more because the forearm its connected to is almost as wide as his head! Maybe that's why artists in the 90s made the hands so big, as otherwise it would look horribly stubby in comparison to the arm.
13:17 he might've been a bystander actually asking for bus fair and didn't notice the attackers one guys coming around a corner so he might not have seen him and theres a random guy on the ground behind the attacker implying that he may have been stabbed. My theory anyways
the sheer what-the-heck factor got me to click on this video
That is a powerful newspaper.
just saw yesterday freak force review, what a coincidence you did one on Dart.
It’s rare to have one where at the end of the review all you can say is “wow that was low quality”. The comic I meant.
Oh god! The eyes, they're staring into my soul! They know my name!
2:47 I bet it's either the Reflections arc, The Pie's The Limit or Zen and the Art of Gazebo Repair.
+segundo vargas Of the three, it's most likely to be the Reflections arc (even though I actually really liked it), since the other two are actually considered to be pretty good
+funcoolfunfun Friends Forever #1: "The Pie's The Limit" was terrible though. The TWO colorists somehow manage to fail crayon doodling 101 and ended up coloring outside the lines a few times, on one page they used an emoticon inside a speech bubble (instead of just having the character's face display emotion), most of the backgrounds were just a solid color or gradient, and the line art in general was off-model and bland. The story wasn't very good either. The artists and writer involved in this one never worked on another issue for this series again, perhaps that was for the best.
Vincent Provost Honestly, I found that one to be pretty enjoyable, though it's been a while since I read it (or any of the IDW comics, for that matter).
funny you mention rom the spaceknight, in the recent friendship is magic cover variants actually shows him
I'm kinda surprised there's no superheroes who are artists-sort of emphasizing creativity in how they use their abilities, but they would still learn how to fight.
Dart: When even a gang rapist makes fun of your design
"I'm the god damned Kaibaman"
Anyone else catch the irony of a poorly drawn character from a poorly drawn comic complaining about comic art and character design?
CoughKyleRaynerCough.
The fuck? I may not have seen much of her in Savage Dragon, but she definitely didn't display such hatred of men
overly fond of her outfit, hating to be limited by laws, disliking paperwork and such yes, but never outright hating men. especially since one of her closest friends IS A MAN.
Killcat could also be a huge fan of the Kansas City Royals too lol (another reason behind the KC on his chest)
Yes yes yes mlp thank you thank you great one
Is it me or is the audio changing?
For some reason, I get a feeling that it's a stab at Rob Liefeld. Liefeld = Brockman.
Could just be me though ;)
Bus fair - Bus Fare...
17:15 to 17:25 - LOL! That was a pretty good joke XD
Is there a reason why this video won't go up from 360p or is it a problem on my end?
+Dreadjaws No idea, sorry. I uploaded an HD file.
+Linkara-AtopTheFourthWall Thanks for the reply, but no matter. I managed to see it in the Screenwave player, which never works for me, but for some reason today did. Cheers.
what if this comic what's the inspiration for the brat dolls
7:03 just stopped watching his Darkwing Duck review and I thought I'd seen enough ducks for one day. Guess I was wrong.
Nice dart, bawd!
Dart? So she's a Canadian smoker's favorite super hero.
Ah, thank God for that stinger!
That bit was bugging me and I was wondering why you weren't pointing it out.
Maybe I should get into SD.
I hear it's one of the better early Image titles.
Will an HD version be available?
"Spoilers: later this year I'm gonna review some My Little Pony comics."
YEEEEEEEEEYYY...!!!
Please, tell me is the Nightmare Rarity saga.
+JohnnyElRed Or it could be the Gen 1 run.
Dunes8 Oh, please. First, how is anyone get a copy of any of those comics? Second, there were gen 1 comics in the first place? And third, why Linkara would review a bad 80's comic, instead of.....?
Ok, for a second I forgot what internet show was this.
+JohnnyElRed Yep, they were made by Fleetway, which also handled the UK Sonic the Hedgehog comics.
+Dunes8 You mean Sonic the Douche-hog
