Employers avoid approving TRT because, once approved, the employee gains the flexibility to leave. This is a significant issue. Do you think the new SID will prevent this kind of exploitation?
I heard you need to start immediately when you get granted the 482 visa or else you will have to get another two year 482 visa and satisfy the two year 186 TRT requirements. Is this accurate info? I mean if you’re overseas. One week preparation is really pushing it to pack up, arrange a place to stay, book tickets and say goodbye to your parents/wife and kids. One month preparation allowance should be fair when you are moving to another country. Imagine you moving from Europe and have to start before 9am AEST two days after visa grant. Bit of a stretch isn’t it?

my visa 482 short is taking forever to be approved... now 53 days since submission. Visa for Singapore took maybe 2 weeks, same for Malaysia... No wonder employers in AU will think twice before embarking into this ordeal of sponsoring workers.
They will change the requirements of work experience for the 482 visa from 2 years to 1 year in November/24 but in December/24 they will replace the 482 visa to the Skills in Demand Visa. Does it means this new 1 year work experience requirement will only last for 1 month?
If I currently hold a 482 visa and I have been working for the same employer for a year and a half, and for personal reasons I decide to leave the country and come back to Australia in a year time (to work for the same employer under again a new 482), would I be eligible for PR after 6 months? I received a positive skill assessment, but I only have 50 points instead of 65. Am I still eligible to apply for a visa?
