The American film is very fun, and worth a look.

The Tribe has some of the wildest, anti theatrical violence I’ve seen in a movie.

Interesting! I actually just heard about that movie a few days ago. Thanks for the recommendation!

Jodorowsky's _El Topo_ may be the craziest film I've seen (for my taste), though _Holy Mountain_ was equally profound. More Pop Avante-garde Japanese cinema, check out 1969's _A Funeral Parade Of Roses_ - a heavy influence on _A Clockwork Orange,_ Kubrick borrowed liberally from it.

Nice! I've never gotten around to seeing a Jodorowsky movie but I know he definitely makes some crazy stuff! I'll have to check out A Funeral Parade of Roses too! Great recommendations!

@@JoshuaSutlive Paul Schrader's _Mishima_ (1985) is another work of Japanese-influenced (literary) surrealism for the list. Beautiful & crazy underrated.

I've seen house twice. It's interesting buts its movie I can't put my finger on. Me and my dad watched it last year my dad did not get it either. Also, one way of describing this movie it was like Evil Dead meets Scooby-Doo. A friend of mine told me that director Nobuhiko Obayashi was trying to go for a Jaws rip off type of movie.

Yeah, I didn't go into it too much in the video but apparently Obayashi was commissioned to make a film that would be as popular as Jaws. From what I've seen it was a hit in japan but was definitley not anything like Jaws.

I dunno, to me it just seems like a wacky horror parody that happens to come from Japan. It'd be like if Japanese people saw Airplane! and were like "Look how crazy this American movie is!"
Also, please proofread your future scripts for repetitive word use. You say "film" in too many sentences in a row, for example.

For sure. It’s definitely wacky and at times it does feel a bit like a parody in how it takes the archetype of teenagers in the haunted house and turns it on it’s head, but it goes way further with the craziness than any parody film I’ve ever seen. It often goes in strange directions that are sometimes not even played for laughs. With themes of aging and the atomic bomb it touches on some serious stuff while staying goofy and crazy the whole way through so though it’s clearly not for everyone, it’s always felt pretty unique in my mind. And you are very right, I do have a tendency to repeat words at times. And I’m sure switching back and forth between saying film and movie definitely gets old after a while. I’ll be sure to work on it!
