I thought the same thing about Harry’s attitude stupidly laughing and acting overly jovial, almost like at a party. I’m so disappointed to see that things have turned out this way. I was 9 years old when I watched Diana get married, and have been a huge fan with much respect for the Royal Family. As an American, I was disgusted and horrified when Harry hooked up with “her.” I thought, omg! What is he thinking?? An American?! In the Royal Family?! She knows nothing about being a Royal!!! And it seemed from day one, it was obvious she wanted to run the show and be the center of all the attention. I could keep going but I won’t. 🤬🤬😡😡😡

I think it's important to point out that Harry said he didn't want to leave the RF - he wanted a half-in, half-out arrangement where he and his wife could have the best of both worlds, Royal and commercial. The Queen said no and he's been furious about it ever since. I don't think that's "getting it right".

William is a very impressive young man, and will make a very good King. Thank goodness for him, really. He knows what is right and what is wrong. He has a gorgeous wife and lovely children. I admire him and Catherine a great deal. Single handedly, they seem to be buffering all the awful stuff that H & M are throwing up. Well done William. Keep up the good work. I can't say much for Charles, except I applaud that he still supported H & M when they first abandoned England. I find it difficult to get passed that he married the woman who destroyed Diana's marriage and how does that go down with his sons. Diana, however, despite the forces working against her, rose up to flourish and make a name for her self with her charitable works. She had her faults too, but she was pushed into the whole infidelity saga etc.

Camilla did not 'destroy' anyone's marriage. She happened to be a friend in Charles' earlier life who stood by him during the period his marriage was breaking down due to Diana's behaviour.
Harry's behaviour is very much like that of his mother.

Diana desperately wanted the marriage to work but didn't stand a chance when Camilla was "the third person in the marriage". She directly caused the marriage to fail and even said to Diana that Diana should be content with what she had and so why could she herself not have Charles. Get your facts right please. Diana realised that Charles and Camilla were having an affair just before the wedding. She wanted to pull out of the wedding but obviously could not. It was Charles neglect of and disdain for Diana that set her off the rails. Had he been a faithful loving partner, the outcome would have been completely different.
Considering Harry said he is triggered by London & it causes him anxiety etc, he did a great job of acting like a clown, in fact I would say he looked like he wasn't triggered in the slightest, almost like he lied about it. Oh wait a minute.....

Robert Lacey really annoyed me making it sound like Harry exited the royal family simply to make a separate life for himself and his own family and that the RF just have to come to terms with this. I have more loyalty to the Current Monarchy than I did before, in part, due to the appalling betrayal of family shown by Harry and his wife. I think it is important to limit the hereditary nature of the Monarchy however to Prince Charles, the Duke of Cambridge and his children. There should be no possibility of Harry being in line to succession.

The statue is cold, hard, sad, masculine and not in any way, in my opinion how Diana would want to be remembered. She was a warm, compassionate, stylish feminine icon worthy of so much more.

There was no doubt how much William and Kate loved and supported Harry back in the day. Thomas Markle states how much he loves his daughter. They were both loved and turned their backs on that love.

I had no problem with them “going their own way.” It would have been nice had she kept her promise re: taking British citizenship and performing duties for the RF, but they were lucky enough to even be excused from that; on top of which they were still being taken care of by PC! And then to go on world television to lie and trash his family and the institution who’ve given Hazbeen everything he’s ever wanted, and same with Me-Again since they were dating, and by the time they were engaged the royal purse had paid quite a bit on he. The reason why the statues are coming down in Canada is the atrocities that were out on our indigenous population in the name of the monarch. Sorry but I can't agree with anything Robert Lacey says in this interview. It's only his opinion of the situation I suppose and I guess everyone's entitled to their opinion. So here's mine for what it's worth:
From what I've read in the comments of numerous postings about H&M leaving the UK and their roles within the RF, most people don't have a problem with that. What lots of people do have an issue with is the pair's subsequent behaviour and their rubbishing of the RF (much of which has been either debunked or disputed) and the country they left behind.
The hurt and confusion felt by Prince Charles, William, Catherine and others in the RF, including the Queen as it's her family that's being criticised, must run very deep, and so to forgive such a slating - especially on an international platform - will take a long time, if it's ever forgiven. It certainly won't be forgotten. H's disloyalty has been staggering. Having known a few soldiers, especially who've fought for Queen and Country, loyalty is something they live by. So, it's hard to reconcile H's behaviour with him having been a serving soldier.
Trust in someone who does this to you, especially someone you've loved and protected, is never fully regained when broken. Maybe I'm mistaken but that to me appeared evident in William's restrained interaction with H yesterday, rather than it being purely about the solemness of the event. As well as the effect of his brother's betrayal on him, William will have witnessed first hand the fallout of H's betrayal of both his father and of his Catherine. He probably doesn't care about M's betrayal as it's possibly unsurprising to him if the reports of his views of her are to be believed.
Watching H's over-smiling and over-exuberance, plus his constant fiddling with his wedding ring as a comforter - or maybe it was a reminder of the reason behind his present predicament, demonstrated his discomfort and awareness that the situation was tense and that he wanted things to be "normal". He surely must also have been aware that the tension wouldn't only have been because of the emotive nature of the occasion but that maybe the distress and disappointment caused to his relatives by his and his wife's recent actions were a contributing factor.
Go live with the royal family for a year than come back and give your truthful opinion about them.
Not saying it's easy being within the RF but they are human and are just as likely to feel hurt and betrayed as you or I would if a family member went around slating you to all and sundry. H&M just had a bigger platform.

I disagree when it was said : This town was small to both of them because this was not the main reason. It was not the space but the hierarchy the duchless of Montecito did not accept and made harry to feel like that. She couldn't stand they both weren't the first and the only one to be curtsied. I really hope they all, now 4, have no titles at all. If h and m rejected their work as royals why they should keep titles son their children. Being royal is not only about having a title.

I don’t like the statue. I agree it would be very difficult, if not impossible, to capture her essence in a statue - as far as the face goes, it’s not too bad.
What jars are: the unbuttoned top; the giant buckle (a columnist not inaccurately called it a wrestling belt); and the fact that any person of sensitivity doesn’t dress that way to visit children who are in rags.
It’s the hair on the statue...not quite right.

I'm agreeing with Richard Egen about Diana statue. It's pretty awful really. No need for props as someone else said. The face isn't right nor the outfit chosen. The sculptors have got it wrong.

I think the point is that they do need to trash the RF for cash because they have no way of being noticed without. Dianna was not a “ beautiful” woman- but she had large expressive eyes and photographed well. No statue can replicate those eyes , so they will never really look “ like” her, but the artist got her features spot on. The sons appear to think it was great, and they knew her best!
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but considering she is still considered a fashion and beauty icon worldwide, I think your definition of Beautiful is probably camilla types, or another standard. It's just your version of beauty but for a good majority of the world she's considered gorgeous.

When I think of Diana, I think of a young, delicately feminine, elegant, and very beautiful woman. I feel the statue is opposite of that. It looks masculine, thick and of an older Diana that unfortunately, she never got to achieve. I think that the statue portrays what she may have looked like today at sixty years old.

I was disappointed that the statue was not one of Diana as we remember. It has intentionally made of her in anticipation of having reached age 60 instead of the very beautiful woman aged 40…
Princess Diana had an energy around her like a halo that drew people to her spirit. She was expressive, sensitive, strong, beautiful, compassionate and genuinely empathetic. There was nothing fake about her.
William was diplomatic and civil considering it was for their mother. The focus was only on the on that. Diana favorite color was blue just as her engagement ring was. Grey is the color MM likes.
The reason supposedly it was so intimate is because Harry was anxious. So William invited a small group and only a few press.
The statue of her doesn't really do her justice. But it's nice that the brothers wanted to make a historic occasion in respect to their mother. Diana would be angry that her sons are separated due to his hllywd actress wife. She would have wanted them to carry out her legacy. Harry will be sorry one day.

Yes, siblings grow up, get married, start their own families and lives but, that usually doesn't include the original core group of family members cracking and fracturing into bits of pieces that can never be put back together...after introducing a single new member. We're not talking about the "normal" process of siblings growing up, we're talking about a severing of family relationships due to damaging, intentionally destructive behavior that's focus is unbalanced on an individual's needs and wants vs the family as a whole. Behaviors that are usually incompatible with the vast majority of previously intact families.
I agree that it is not normal. It is only my opinion, and it may seem very cynical, but I suspect that Meghan saw the vulnerability that Harry has alway shown and set out to exploit it for her own benefit right from the beginning. He has no integrity or shame and has nurtured a sense of entitlement without accepting any responsibility or having any real understanding of loyalty. I feel sorry for Charles and William but it is better that it is exposed instead of festering under a facade.

The green cast was chosen so it doesn't clash with the green of the vegetation. Diana never blended in - she sparkled. She shone like diamonds even in shorts and a garden top. It made no sense. Easy to understand William's being wary of Harry. Let's pretend you were a chef and were going to inherit a restaurant, if you were best friends with you brother or your sister and probably even had plans for him/ her once you took over the restaurant.. Now, imagine your brother or sister married someone that after some months started to believe herself to be a cook and maybe even a manager for your restaurant by trying to ' have a voice' in how your restaurant should be managed and disagreeing with lots of things and the ways things worked in your restaurant...You thought some of the ideas even had potential but you and the rest of staff who had been working there for years would probably have to take it easy with any changes. However your brother and his wife decide it is best for them to leave and try to open their own business and live their own life. You get sad they will move to another neighbourhood but there is nothing you can do and off they go! All of a sudden, to promote their new business they start giving interviews to the local newspaper talking about YOUR restaurant, not THEIR own business, BUT trashing YOUR restaurant. They accuse your staff of being racist, they say they couldn't not work at your restaurant anymore and how hard it was to be there, that when they needed your company didn't help them, etc etc. They tell 17 falsehoods in one interview alone, whilst cashing out on slagging your business off. Now let's substitute the restaurant for a hundreds year old institution; lets substitute the staff accused of racism for Harry's own family ( as they don't trash Meghan's family because that doesn't sell ), let's change the local newspaper and local embarrassment for media watched worldwide and global embarrassment, including some diplomatic faux pas ( like when Harry criticised one the American amendments ). You would probably be asking yourself: Has my brother or my sister always felt like that? What are they doing that? Is it their partner or is it them? Can I trust them? Why don't they just go on about their new business and leave me alone? Why they try to associate themselves as being part of the family the owns this restaurant if they had SO much criticism for everything it represents and the people who work here?
