Man, I'm so glad you decided to save the Cherokee! Honestly, I think it could work pretty well to cut the roof and pillars off of a donor Cherokee and swap it into yours. As long as you do it right, it could be like a brand new Jeep!
This was a great way of doing what you felt you needed to do, with the skills and money you actually have. I love the approach. I probably would have knit-picked things 1000 times more, and never gotten half of this done. You made it look like a weekend.
Just a cherokee being a cherokee haha! I'm not surprised that you guys were able to drive it out. Once I drove my Cherokee 3 hours home after breaking a valve spring so I had a misfire. Nice job!
Love it! Great job on the repair. Just bought back my old XJ. Picking it up this weekend. Between my JK, XJ and 48 Willys I think I will have plenty to keep me busy 😂
A lot of people would have thrown in the towel on a car this badly damaged. Kudos to you for actually toughing it out and fixing the jeep! You're completely right though, 100% this thing needs a roll cage, like I wouldn't drive long distance in it without one.
Dude great idea I just came up with! cut around the edge to clean it up a bit. Use some door seal around the edge. Weld a couple hinges to the top of the plate. Use some gas pistons like you have for the trunk gate or a way to hold it up like a car hood for access to either a beer cooler in the trunk or tools in the trunk area. Use a couple of the same latches you already got to secure it down for minimal al sqeekage . Boom now you maximized a problem into a bad ass solution.
Love the xj,mine is white and looks very similar! Can I ask where you got your front sun visor? I love it and would love to add it to my jeep. Great video. Keep it up.
Man, after the final Tacoma video I thought, “what will he come up with next?” Then fate lobs you this meatball lol. Solid job man, watched this on my lunch in my 01 XJ with 76k on it. No Modelo in this one though?!? 😂
Thank you! It wasn’t necessary, the weld is just to hold the steel on the truck and to seal it was the silicone on the inside. Welding the whole thing would’ve been painful!
You guys sure are determined i would have took the good off that and put it on another jeep but its a testament to the fact that anything can be fixed if theres a will theress a way
Pretty good save. If it were me, I probably would have just put a roll cage, hacked the back top off and run it Bronco style. Maybe make a custom soft top.
I would honestly forget the idea of a new rear left window and just cut the whole bent part and build a like cabin you can access from the outside with lock that you see on like austrailian overlanders
I admire your dedication to that jeep. Surprisingly it's not looking bad even though your techniques weren't even close to text book. Helpful tip, watch some RUclips videos on body work. I think a body shop probably would have cut out old sections and weld in new. Which you're at a good spot to do in the future. If it's going to be primarily a trail rig then it really doesn't matter.
Cut off all the back/roof and do the same to one at a junkyard then weld the junkyard one on. you could get it looking pretty good. But either way impressive repair so far
No diss it is alright for a day in the garage, personally as another xj owner I’d have chopped it all off behind the front windshield squared the sides a bit and threw a cheap cage in and a tarp for a roof and called it a day.
It’s not very cold or wet in socal, you would just need a roof for sun protection here. But the way you guys did it wasn’t bad for keeping it mostly enclosed.
Nice job keeping the Jeep alive! It turned out pretty good for a quick home repair 🤘
Thanks Daniel!
That window repair is the definition of "If you squint its mint!"😂
So stoked! I think every person who sees that will seriously enjoy the story you tell with your vehicles! Thank you for sharing it with us!
Absolutely! It’s fun for me and I’m glad you are watching along the way!
First the Tacoma resurrection and now this amazing save. Well done. 🍻 Can't wait to see the cage!
Coming soon!
Love this fix, can’t believe y’all saved it! Nice job
Thank you!
Man, I'm so glad you decided to save the Cherokee!
Honestly, I think it could work pretty well to cut the roof and pillars off of a donor Cherokee and swap it into yours.
As long as you do it right, it could be like a brand new Jeep!
for this old guy who wheeled these in the 80's/90's, this brings back memories. Great stuff and looking forward to the roll cage!
Thank you!
You’re back! Glad you’ve made yourself another project, and you didn’t get hurt.
Thankfully, just some hurt pride!
Mike, you guys are nothing short of inspirational, legendary save. Honestly think it looks even better than before 🤘🤘
This was a great way of doing what you felt you needed to do, with the skills and money you actually have. I love the approach. I probably would have knit-picked things 1000 times more, and never gotten half of this done. You made it look like a weekend.
Ha…such a legend, nice work back on the road/trails 🙌🏼
Keep her on the trails a little longer!
bro i love everything about this. this jeep forsure tells a story!
Absolutely!!
I'm glad you mentioned the roll cage thing at the end, definitely read my mind. Awesome work as usual!
It’s needed for sure!
You always make things work. Back in business. The use of the tree was excellent!
That’s a good old tree!
Great comeback! Bro idk how the heck you think of coming up with plans for restoration and prevention matters ! Great job man keep up the good work!
Hey thanks!
Laying dimes!! Not new dimes, but dimes!! Your channel is great.
Awesome work! It would be sick to see a Cherokee truck build. The roll cage is definitely needed. Cheers!
Just a cherokee being a cherokee haha! I'm not surprised that you guys were able to drive it out. Once I drove my Cherokee 3 hours home after breaking a valve spring so I had a misfire. Nice job!
Again, you always come through with the best of what you're working with. 👍
Hell yeah dude glad to see you were able to keep that thing outta the scrap yard!
Let it live for a few more wheeling trips 😄
Mad respect. Saved from the scrap yard!
I’m glad I did!
This makes me so happy to see 👏🏼 wish I could whip my cherokee thru the snow with you guys. Can’t wait for the roll cage and what you guys do next
Thank you!
Love it! Great job on the repair. Just bought back my old XJ. Picking it up this weekend. Between my JK, XJ and 48 Willys I think I will have plenty to keep me busy 😂
Great job! I love that you’re not giving up on the Jeep. Keep building and happy trails!
Right back at cha!
I personally like it better this way adds some really nice character, and makes for a good story.
It really does!
Nice work friend!!! I would personaly cut away the dent rear, and turn it into a four door pickup truck by welding a panel behind the rear seats! ;-)
Good stuff. I thought for sure you where gonna cut the rear, and have a flat bed back there. Good stuff boss. Happy adventures out there all.
Yeah I considered it, but this was just easier honestly
Just curious do you have frame stiffeners on that beast of a Jeep?
Yes I do! Front to rear
A lot of people would have thrown in the towel on a car this badly damaged. Kudos to you for actually toughing it out and fixing the jeep! You're completely right though, 100% this thing needs a roll cage, like I wouldn't drive long distance in it without one.
Yeah it needed one awhile back with how I drive it. I wish I would’ve done it sooner!
Good job man. Glad you decided to save it!
Awesome Job! So glad you kept and fixed the Jeep. Very interested to see where you go with the roll cage 👍
It’s going to be good!
Dude great idea I just came up with! cut around the edge to clean it up a bit. Use some door seal around the edge. Weld a couple hinges to the top of the plate. Not a bad idea at all
Awesome work bud, glad you and the jeep are safe and good!
Thank you! We were lucky.
What a comeback story for this rig.
Did you do a video on the build of the Jeep?
Dude. How did you mount your roto pack into the glass? Sick.
It’s a piece of steel so I just drilled holes and bolted it. Lol
Love the xj,mine is white and looks very similar! Can I ask where you got your front sun visor? I love it and would love to add it to my jeep. Great video. Keep it up.
Hey thanks! Hit up Frank Cote on Facebook! He’s in a couple XJ groups on FB!
Good work getting it restored! What front bumper is that?
It’s a DIY weld together by JCRoffroad
sweet man! good job in saving that jeep! I would want to see a walk around vid on that xj you got!
Nice job looks pretty mad max🤙 how’d you do that headliner?
Pull her out, and then slap on some fabric from Walmart!
Man, after the final Tacoma video I thought, “what will he come up with next?” Then fate lobs you this meatball lol. Solid job man, watched this on my lunch in my 01 XJ with 76k on it. No Modelo in this one though?!? 😂
Looking good dude glad you didnt just scrap it but definitely time a cage
Looks great! Can I ask why you just didn’t weld around the whole window?
Thank you! It wasn’t necessary, the weld is just to hold the steel on the truck and to seal it was the silicone on the inside. Welding the whole thing would’ve been painful!
Epic guys!! Now you don’t have to worry about not denting it anymore! Lol
Awesome job man. Did you build your rear bumper?
Nope! This is a rear tire carrier from Filthy Addictions Off-road. Best one out there in my opinion!
Functional repairs keeping it going. good work
Incredible, I’m seriously shocked! Nice work 🤙🏻
Hey thank you!
I'm here for the cage build videos!
Do you think you will clean up the broken glass in the woods when the snow melts in Tahoe? That would be really cool. I'm glad no one got killed.
That’s the plan for sure! It’s under about 20’ of snow at the moment though.
You guys sure are determined i would have took the good off that and put it on another jeep but its a testament to the fact that anything can be fixed if theres a will theress a way
True, if there’s a will there’s a way!
what is the wheel and tire setup? are they 14 wides?
35x12.5/15 . 15x10 wheel
Came out good bro. May never b how it was but it works that’s the main thing. Now this jeep looks like a rambler
Function over form for sure
Was that Ice house reservoir!? that is great snow pack for December!
This is Loon Lake! But yeah, great snowfall so far this year!
What a comeback!
Great work saving this thing. Looks bad ass!
Thank you!
That’s awesome you were able to save the Cherokee. Roll cage would be good and frame stiffeners as well. Like what you did for latches on the rear.
Yeah I’m happy I was! The Jeep already has full stiffeners as well
Glad to see you back. I enjoy your content. The Tacoma build was great
Stay tuned, got something coming real soon 🤘🏻
Not sure why I didn’t get a notification on this one, glad to see it back on the trail!
Me too!
Nice work man. It does kind of look like window if you squint at it haha. Plus side is, more space for storage of the gas can.
For sure!
does the rear hatch leak at all in the rain?
Yes, however I’m gonna add some weather stripping
Great job! It would crush me if anything happened to my xj
Nice save on the jeep
How many miles are on that bad boy? I know those 4.0 will run a long time
She’s got just over 170k !
So what we got here is a tree. Lol k thanks. Great idea for that side window!
Wow! Great job man! Maybe you could add a small roll cage to give it some support.
Yeah at the end of the video I mentioned I have a roll cage coming
Great job!
Thank you!
There is only one solution that makes sense. GEO TRACKER! 😂
yoo, move videos man, this was awesome!
Thanks dude!
adds style and a story
Nice, it's got character now
Oh it does for sure!
Great video! Amazing how you fixed it!!
I bought a Cherokee looked like the doors were bent but the hinge area was the culprit so do some checking the door looks straight to me.
Glad you saved it man
Pretty good save. If it were me, I probably would have just put a roll cage, hacked the back top off and run it Bronco style. Maybe make a custom soft top.
Can’t wait to see the roll cage!
I would honestly forget the idea of a new rear left window and just cut the whole bent part and build a like cabin you can access from the outside with lock that you see on like austrailian overlanders
That back window is so bad its funny 😂
It’s purple lol
@@mikes4x4garage no no the steel lol.
@@Bob-ir4lr thanks bob!
You shoulda put some plexy glass back there so you could keep the view point. However, what a job getting that damage out 👌🏻👌🏻
Can’t see out that window anyway from where I drive thankfully!
Amazing video mike love to see xj content 🙌🏼
Thank you!
that body work was good fun to watch thanks chief
Thank you for watching 👍🏻👍🏻

Yeah it’s only a trail rig now! Function over form?
Cut off all the back/roof and do the same to one at a junkyard then weld the junkyard one on. you could get it looking pretty good. But either way impressive repair so far
Thanks Chris!
So happy ypu posted imma get me a cold one
Grab yaself one!
@@mikes4x4garage yeah we need a road trip 30+ min video Mike ...
That thing has some character. Also has me considering a cage sooner for my XJ...
Not a bad choice! lol
You should have painted a big eyepatch on the steel plate window.
Such a good channel.
Wow it polished up pretty good
Not too shabby!
“You did it, you crazy some of a bitch, you did it.” Insert jeff goldblum meme
“We were so preoccupied wondering if we could do it, that we didn’t think of if we should”😂
I sent link to my cousin who owned a bodyshop. Can't wait to see his reply.
I’m sure he’ll be very impressed and instantly offer me a job
Dude! I own 89’ that looks identical to yours, this was hard to watch!
No diss it is alright for a day in the garage, personally as another xj owner I’d have chopped it all off behind the front windshield squared the sides a bit and threw a cheap cage in and a tarp for a roof and called it a day.
But then you get cold and wet every time you drive it???
It’s not very cold or wet in socal, you would just need a roof for sun protection here. But the way you guys did it wasn’t bad for keeping it mostly enclosed.
What front bumper is that?
Inginuity and a can do attitude goes a long way!
Thanks Jacob!
Mike where did you get that sweet shirt?
Oh that? I think I bought it from tractor supply years ago
exciting stuff!
"It's a Jeep thing" is the sticker you need on there now!😉
Beautiful bruv!
I freaking love this channel😂
Haha thank you!
I'm looking at my back quarter window with a different eye now.... hmmmmm. Great idea.
Doesn’t work half bad actually!
May i suggest unibody stiffners????
Good suggestion! The whole Jeep has them front to rear , including the inner frame by the between the steering box 👍🏻👍🏻
Great video man
Thank you!
