The serial number is there, It is just SUPER faint. It's below the skull. Almost on the edge.

Very nice! Congratulations, MISA is one of my favorite bassists (along with F Chopper Koga, Wakazaemon, and Haru of Bridear) I’m sure you’ll enjoy playing it a lot. I believe you’re supposed to be barefoot while playing this but you’ll have to check the manufacturer’s recommendations on that.

I'm definitely going to ask the builders to substitute the rosewood fretboard for an ebony fretboard. I hope (not really) the eco folks would be happy with that switch, and it will by-pass customs lol! Congrats, Sir! 🦍🍌
Hey, that's a sweet bass! Glad you finally got it. I was surprised with the whole brand new but used look, I didn't know that was a thing. I'm a brass player, so I'm used to bright and shiny. I'm glad I was able to help soften the blow of what you spent on it. I hope you enjoy jammin out on it and having some MISA-like moments with it, I couldn't tell what you were playing LOL I have enjoyed watching the Day-of-Maid Blu-ray and I love listening to "Youth". I haven't lost enough weight to comfortably fit into the shirt yet. 😢 working on it! 🤘

Now I'm really confused. When you said that you were getting the Black Smoker, I thought (wrongly now) that you meant the first black Fender Jazz style guitar that she got and not the later Fender Jaguar shaped ones. The first black Fender Jazz style that she got, is the only one that has her name on the back of the headstock and not the skull, with PR (Private Reserve) on the front of the head stock which makes this one the only signature model as the other are from general stock- but only with the skull logo. In spite of black model looking huge on Misa, all of her basses are short scale, with either 20 or 21 frets only- as a long scale bass, like a normal guitar, will have 24.
Not exactly sure what you are saying. It sounds like you are saying this Jaguar isn’t a MISA signature bass? If you are, that is just incorrect.
Uh...scale length doesn't correlate to the number of frets, just how far apart they are. So while a 24-fret short scale would probably be pointless because the top frets would be so close together as to be almost unusable, standard long-scale Fenders (which the Black Clouds are modeled on) almost always have 20-21 frets. The short-scale Mustang bass has 19. Fender did make a Jazz 24 but they're very rare and look like the body is shorter to allow access to the high frets.

S.J. thanks for sharing this, was great to see all the detail, weird the serial # isn't on the guitar, but probably on there somewhere hiding. how'd it play after practicing on your Ktaxon? which by the way looks like a killer deal for $79.
Found the serial# with some help in these comments. It is FAINT. Plays great but a thicker neck is an adjustment from the Ktaxon.

FYI You can see the SN at 10:22 at the 5 o'clock position relative to the skull. The bigger your screen the better.

I'm a little sad, that they made this her signature model, since she obviously prefers the yellow vintage model :/
This wasn’t a “they” decision. This was a "her" decision. Everything about it was her choices. She said as much in an interview.
