We missed out on a ticket to this now classic game, but we watched Ryan Reynolds' and Rob McElhenney's Wrexham, fight heroically against Sheffield UTD from the now infamous Turf Hotel next to the famous Wrexham Racecourse Football Ground.
Wrexham shouldn't even have had a chance against Sheffield UTD, who were 70 places above Wrexham in the league, but as you know, that wasn't the case.
After a shaky start, Rob and Ryan's guys stepped up the gears in the second half, and with goals from, James Jones, Thomas O' Connor and Paul Mullin, this game turned into a Hollywood style 6 goal thriller.
The Turf Hotel was buzzing with passionate fans who couldn't get into the game, and Ryan Reynolds was there to support his team in person. With BBC commentary from Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer, and Wrexham-born Manchester UTD and Wales legend, Mark Hughes, this game was a true spectacle to behold.
The Turf Hotel is a historic public house and hotel that dates back to the 18th century, known for its traditional ambiance and real ale and food offerings. Conveniently located next to Wrexham's football ground, the Racecourse, it is the perfect place to take in the excitement of live football.
Wrexham AFC's ground, The Racecourse, is the world's oldest international football stadium and has hosted Wales' first home international match in 1877.
With the recent takeover by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney and the Fox TV/Disney+ documentary Welcome To Wrexham, Wrexham AFC has become a household name all over the world.

Postcard & A Pint was thought up by my partner, Rachel & myself, Wills one day while taking our daily 1 hour exercise during the lockdown of 2020. All of a sudden, we were spending more time together, not working 6 or 7 days a week in the arts industry, and binge watching travel programs, and we were actually really enjoying it, and it made us re-evaluate what was important in life for us. Now back to working 6 or 7 days a week again, with very little time off, our happy time is getting out there on our brief times off together and making short travel videos that we are now sharing with you. On the other hand, I came close to breaking my arm (apologies to my coffee table here...) when Utd scored their 3rd goal. Apart from this it was a brilliant performance from the lads against a team looking to get promoted to the Premier League. I can't wait for the 2nd game....

This was brilliant, Rachel and Wills! 👍😀 Funny, fun, and enjoyable. Fantastic atmosphere in the pub, and great to see some of the stars of the show. Yes, Roger and I have taken an interest in Wrexham Utd since watching the TV show. Lucy and I were filming, but Roger watched the whole game and gave me updates along the way. I hope Wrexham make it back to the League next season. They were the first team to play my home town side Hartlepools United in the Third Division North (guess who won, it wasn't the Dockers) and the first non-English club to compete in a recognised English league back in the 1890s. Some may argue that Notts County have an even better pedigree, but their demise was of their own making and they deserve at least another season in obscurity to teach them a lesson. I only hope that whatever replaces that magnificent terrace is as imposing as the structure the bulldozers have demolished.

Boo hi guys this was brilliant right up my street you captured the atmosphere and great tradition of the cup so well i watched game on tv as am a big football fan and love the fa cup games i went to see my team brighton beat liverpool we are having a great season and a pleasure to watch at moment. hope you rachel is fully recovered now from covid.look forward to your next video

Not much of a football fan because we are in a different part of the globe 😆 . But having lived in Europe, I spent some time in pubs, and people go wild during a game. It was a fun experience watching and cheering with the locals 🍻

That was an awesome video! We've started following you guys a few weeks ago and I thoroughly enjoyed your view of the event as well as the snarky commentary :) I was hoping you both might make it back around there for the re-match but I heard at the end of the video you might be at work and watching it on the telly. Now, don't laugh, but we're planning a move to the area as we had been planning a move and fell in love with the team and so would like to be as close to home games as possible. I'm a bit of a footy tragic myself. Not that soccer football. Actual footy, Aussie rules. I'm still getting over the massive loss of my dear old Bloods in the Grand Final back in September. But I did shout myself an ice cream on my way home from that one. Only 29 days till season 2023 kicks off 😁
So, yeah, this was awesome from a footy tragic point of view. Underdogs taking on the evil empire... well maybe not the THE evil empire. That would be Arsenal wouldn't it? Or Man U? Maybe in the axis of evil though. Great stuff anyway!
Do they have tee shirts that say "I got wrecked in Wrexham"? Marketing opportunity wasted otherwise. Actually, that reminds me. There was an actual marketing campaign for Great Keppel Island up on the Barrier Reef in the 80s or 90s that said exactly that, I got wrecked on Great Keppel. So some wag on a cruise ship that used to ply our waters up north called the Fairstar - the Fun Ship, sold t-shirts with "You may have got wrecked on Great Keppel but I got phuct on the Fairstar".
And with that I will go back to obsessing over pre-season team injuries.
