  • In this video, Ajahn Amaro explores patikulamanasikara, a practice that involves reflecting on the unattractive or unappealing aspects of the human body, looking at its benefits and dangers. Ajahn Amaro highlights that patikulamanasikara is not about rejecting or condemning the body, and the purpose of this practice is to counteract the exaggerated desire and attachment that often lead to suffering, and to cultivate a sense of equanimity towards all experiences.

Love his (and the Buddha's) pragmatism, his (their) non-dogmatic approach. Admitting that a practice might be harmful to certain people in certain circumstances in order to make them practice something else - that's one of the great strengths of Buddhism. 🐱🙏

It's a great teaching because sexual desire is an extremely power force. What "strive" to do is recall that it is a form of bondage. Some may not like the term, but it is the truth. If we are to engage in it, we must do so responsibily and mindfully. Otherwise, we are prone to do things that can and will lead to suffering.

Hello, the subtitle is incorrect. It should be unattractiveness instead of attractiveness in the beginning.

Are Buddhist studies causing the students to become all the same?
