I explained to her that me being a police officer and that she will basically have to live around firearms. I told her at minimum I needed her to know the firearms safety rules and how to load and clear. She did it then all the sudden one day she was like let's go to the range. Now she has her preferred handguns and man she's picky. Lol

So true! Often a women's confidence is based on feeling competent. I also have had similar in my Well Armed Woman (TWAW) local chapter (which is an all women group that meets once a month for classroom training followed by range time). Thanks for the great videos!
What do you do if you already made the mistake of being too serious? My wife seems to want nothing to do with guns now. In fact, she slips in occasional comments like "yeah I don't like loud noises" in casual conversation on other topics. As someone who trains seriously, my wife knows I want her to like shooting more than anything, but we live in a middle class neighborhood with no crime and she is not convinced that it is necessary. I've infrequently shown her a few small things over time as John suggested. I also took her to the range once and she seemed to like it a bit, but I think I've accidentally communicated too much disappointment through my tone when after the fact she still expressed distaste for shooting.

Noise could be one issue, but she may have another that is a bigger hurdle for her but that she has not mentioned. For example, a woman may not say, "I don't want to look stupid in front of all those men at the range" because, for example, she doesn't want to sound overly sensitive or doesn't want to sound like she's noticing other men which is totally not her point. (c) THIRD, don't take it personally (or if you do, then at least hide that for a while...save that for a future conversation). She may start off saying something stupid like, "when we go to the range, you make me feel…" or "you always…" or "your concerns are stupid." Her feelings could be that she's embarrassed, or feeling inadequate, or any number of things. Give her a pass for this conversation. If she says things like this, she is probably hurting. (5) After you identify the issues, then the two of you can brainstorm ideas to try (eg for loud noises maybe double ear protection, or better ear protection, or outdoor ranges with no other shooters, etc). (5) If you teach her anything or if you practice together, maybe think of it like training a toddler to walk - perhaps don't mention that thou :) Be patient, encouraging, and gental. You could also end training/range time with a little treat, like going to get ice cream - some little date-like thing that is something she really likes. Thank you for all these lessons, and thank you for your service as well. May God bless you and your family abundantly!

John. I've never seen anyone use their military service experience in a better way. What you do with people and your family is second to none. I just wish I was closer to Georgia to have a opportunity to train with you.
John, thank you (and Mrs. Poet) for posting this. With all that is going on right now in the world, my wife has started to want to carry regularly but she is still a little uncomfortable. The timing of this could not be better as many who work with my wife (at a salon) are asking her for advice on learning to shoot and carrying. More people are realizing they must take personal responsibility for their safety. Anyhow, appreciate you brother (and sister)! Keep up the good work and stay safe!
Took my 17 years old sister out to my Dad's home range last weekend to get her a bit more interested and it was awesome! She's hunted with a 30-30 but I had her run a TX22 first then let her try an AR for the first time. She now wants to own an AR. She crushed it! I was so proud!
The San Bernadino Muslim attack on civilians was what changed my wife's mind. That and the ISIS attacks in Iraq on Christians were what got my wife to go with me to tactical pistol and carbine training in 2015.
Guy W Pacot - For me it took current pandemic and social unrest. Finally got her to the range once after 20 years. She loved shooting pistol, and wants to take a full class with instructor who helped her out. Unfortunately she’s been isolating with her elderly mother so no go for now. She’s taken the hook, so time to gently set it. Hard to be patient after all this time, but we’ll get there. Have enough FMJ for a class or two. Better for her to use it for classes than me for practice. Shooting skills are perishable, but if she’s training it will be easier to work dry fire into my routine. Not as fun, but supposedly can be more effective than live fire.
Well the little lady pretty much took over the hellcat the last couple evenings and I got to order a warpoet tonight yay 4 that!!! 😂😂 now she wants (us) to take classes. Thanks Warrior poets society 💪🏻🍻

Me and the wife watched this together and all I could think was, “‘man I needed this information a while ago.” Haha but all is working out well. Thank you and I appreciate your knowledge sir.
Moshe Ciwal - I’m married. No matter how sexy well armed women are, I will not respond inappropriately. If I were single, I’d want to be free to let them have their way with me. No way I’d want to be protected, other than from the obvious physical risks.
Heard Phil Robertson use 1 Corinthians 13:7 as a reason for getting into defensive firearm use as believers. “Love always protects”. Keep preaching brother.
Excellent, as always! I really appreciate your channel - right priorities, good advice. I let my husband enjoy his shooting hobby without me for 34 years. I only joined him when my "mama bear" sensibilities were aroused. I bought a handgun and got my concealed carry license and have never looked back. I love telling other women and give them opportunities to shoot with my hand guns - starting with a good old .22 and working up. Now I'm sorry I didn't join my husband sooner.
I named my ar9 after my wife. Then she found out stole it and want me to train her to shoot. So I built another and I have to hide it from her cause she said she need another.... why did I comment myself is what I wonder now
@ Tai ~ lol! I just bought a .30-06 and painted it in cammo colors... named it after my wife, and then insisted she paint a logo on it... (which she gladly did because she's a professional artist and loves what she does...) *No* - she STILL refuses to shoot it, but she *does* still love her 9mm! I guess it's all about recoil... 😂
J Michael Martin - Try something less intimidating. May I suggest an AR-15 with 22 conversion? Little intimidation, recoil, or blast/noise. When she likes it, you can explore using 223 for a bit more power. Maybe get a rifle can to reduce noise, blast and recoil.
@@finngamesknudson1457 Good advice. However, she is former Army. So, she's familiar with the AR platform in 5.56, as well as the Beretta 9mm. But thanks! 🖒😎 (She just wasn't meant to be a sniper... lol!)

Training a friend of mine in exactly this manner. He has never shot a gun. he wants to learn. But he doesn't want to commit time and practice. ( he is all about work. And he's my boss.) Hes afraid I'm going to go all crazy Marine on him and drag him thru the mud, push ups etc, (I told him that comes later lol) its working it's been 6 months but for me it's very frustrating for me. Getting turned down, excuses, always with the "not right now, to much going on" or " I'm tired" Wah!!! I don't understand why someone would ask me to teach them but not want to commit to learning or practice.
Charge them! They suffer no loss for blowing you off. Make them put up $500 up front and they lose $50 every time they don’t show up. Something is worth what you are willing to pay for it. You are giving it away so it can’t be worth much right???? They also think you will always be there so there is no urgency. It is hard to wake people up until THEY suffer a loss or crisis. Keep trying, seriously consider charging, a lot.
@@charlesmckinley29 that's is exactly how they feel. They have me as a friend who knows things. To call upon when the sh*t hits the fan. Which is often for them., charging Friends is not my speed. I tell them whatever to think is fair. I just want commitment. And a willingness to learn.
Shad Turner I understand about not wanting to charging friends. So, how do we get people to buy in? In the middle of a crisis (worse than now) is not the time to begin. Resources may not be replenishable. Ammo is still available it is just 3-4 times the coat of a few months ago.
I never in my life watch a commercial if i dont have to, i always skip But some of yours i actually go back and rewatch , this was one of them, haha Very creative !!!
John, what really shined through this video was you loading up mags for them in the background. That is Leadership behind the scenes. Train someone, help them become a leader, and continue to support them throughout. That was a great biblical example of husbands love your wives.
I have been doing this with my daughter over the last 6 or 8 months and she's now great running my LCP 2 in 22lr. Which she has claimed as her pistol when she's old enough to own it herself. Its been great watching her get more confident with a firearm. And Its cool to know I was doing this right all along. Thank you for all the great content y'all put out!
She's right, I tried your way initially and it didn't work lol. I at least got my wife to pepper spray me and consistently carry that. Now she carries her 43 just about everywhere she goes.
How did you get your wife to pepper spray you? I managed to get mine into guns but she still refuses to “hurt” me with the pepper spray and I want her to feel comfortable spraying/shooting an attacker if that is ever needed.
Please do more videos like this! I am a mom of four. I would like to CC, but still feel very unprepared. My husband has been a fan of Warrior Poet for years. We hope to train with him someday. #goals

Somehow I missed this video. Glad to see you wife involved and having fun. My wife of 30+ years is also involved in firearms and typically watches your videos with me.
"The joy's of glorious happy traditional monogamous marriage" Amen! I say all the time married people should act like they're married. Thank you for giving us the poet side of this channel. I love the warrior side of things too but respect and appreciate the pursuit of being well rounded. Much respect!
This is a FANTASTIC video and your wife is on to something here. Kudos to you for adding her into your videos. Keep it up. Well done John
Loved the ad, loved the chemistry with your spouse, and the respectful contact with the ladies to correct posture and technique.
🎉Thank you so much, I sent this amazing video to me wife‼️
Me and the wife watched this together and all I could think was, “‘man I needed this information a while ago.” Haha but all is working out well. Thank you and I appreciate your knowledge sir.
share two minutes at a time = BRILLIANT... starting tonight; mr and mrs poet are the jam - love and appreciate their example and commitment
They aren't paying y'all enough for these Sportsman's Guide intros
Man god bless those two sweethearts, it warms my heart how they fit perfectly together!
Now we understand the popcorn statement from dress for your context lol
Awesome! You can talk to my wife and why she is now a better competitive shooter then me. Which makes me so proud.
Now John has to develop a course for guys who want to protect themselves against women with guns;-)
Moshe Ciwal - I’m married. No matter how sexy well armed women are, I will not respond inappropriately. If I were single, I’d want to be free to let them have their way with me. No way I’d want to be protected, other than from the obvious physical risks.
God bless you and your family WPS. Such a warm hearted approach to something with firepower
Looks like Mrs. Poet is looking to take over, watch out John.
Good training. An mastery of the basics. Stay healthy.
That’s empowerment!
Liked and shared, I like my new warrior t shirt, I even bought another one because John is a outstanding salesman 😂😂😂😂😂
I'm finally getting my wife open to training and such. She even has talked about getting her own rifle.
John your a lucky man! Mrs poet is awsome and has the most contagious smile!😁
Ok, my wife is already a shooter. I just want to know where I can get her one of those "Mamma Bear" T-shirts like Mrs. Warrior-Poet was wearing!!
Mrs. Poet is just awesome. We need more of her.
My wife is taking a ladies specific class. She is looking forward to it.
Way2go.....Mr./Mrs Poet / With the girls! ...Smiling.....:-) God Bless You
7:57 that "bayonet" on that ar15 in the background looks rather familiar.........
🤣😂🤣😂...I love her "happy" run in the intro. Best ever
I’d love to get my wife into Ms. Poets class at some point. Heck, I’d like to take on of yours too.
Dude I JUST saw your commercial for WPSN and OMFG IT GAVE ME GOOSEBUMPS! Damn I LOVE You and your content!!!! 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
I’m not gonna lie, the wife looking cute with the gun is really distracting for the trainer!! (Me) 🤣🇺🇸
Heard Phil Robertson use 1 Corinthians 13:7 as a reason for getting into defensive firearm use as believers. “Love always protects”. Keep preaching brother.
Not gonna lie was hoping to see the ladies put some lead down range.
Side note: I'm all about Mama WP.
So I built another and I have to hide it from her cause she said she need another.... why did I comment myself is what I wonder now
LOL, my wife pesters me to take to the range to shoot fullbore on Sundays...I just wanna chill on the farm.
Lol the monster youve created.
@ Tai ~ lol! I just bought a .30-06 and painted it in cammo colors... named it after my wife, and then insisted she paint a logo on it... (which she gladly did because she's a professional artist and loves what she does...)
*No* - she STILL refuses to shoot it, but she *does* still love her 9mm!
But thanks! 🖒😎
(She just wasn't meant to be a sniper... lol!)
You are hands down my favorite. You take such a serious subject with a smile and Mrs. Poet, help your viewers also smile and learn. You guys rock.
Close up of Jon sweating in his kit with Evan pushing a kernel of popcorn in his mouth.
Don't even know if I can focus on the *actual* video content.... 😂😂🤣🤣☠️☠️
Super fun. Great presentation. I see a day where Mrs. Poet takes over the program.
Because the just want to buy the gear that will make them John Wick instantly.
I know the feeling Shad Turner. I offer my neighbors free JiuJitsu 5 days a week 1 hour sessions. They always have an excuse why they can't come.
Great topic. Wife shoots very well but won't carry. I think these days you have to protect yourself. Especially when she goes into Atlanta.
Camera guy: [thinking this isn't going to be included]
Editor: Oh its alllll included. [maniacal laughter]
Pretty sure Evan is the editor lol
I never in my life watch a commercial if i dont have to, i always skip
But some of yours i actually go back and rewatch , this was one of them, haha
Very creative !!!
Last time I was this early John was still a Batt Boi with no neck.
TacticalDesire you are a racist because you have an blue lined flag 😂
@@codymarshall1363 BLUE MAN BAD! BLUE MAN OUT TO GET ME!
@@BoogalooBoy just like orange man, orange man bad!
Thanks everyone, outstanding and sincere!
Interviewer: Do you feel dominated by your wife?
Momma Bear: No he doesn't 😎
Manly Man: 😶☺😍😎
¡¡¡'Muurrica!!!: 🤜💥🤛 👍👍👍😎
John, what really shined through this video was you loading up mags for them in the background. That is Leadership behind the scenes. Train someone, help them become a leader, and continue to support them throughout. That was a great biblical example of husbands love your wives.
This Video is food for family's soul.
Well done, many thanks!
“If you’re a feminist and feel objectified by a husband calling his wife cute, you probably need to go on a date and find some joy”😂 straight facts😂😂
Does she continue to pepper spray you, even when not requested ??
Haha, once with the spray was enough! POM is mean!
Gary McPhillips - can I assume you mean a Glock 43? I have, and love, mine.
#goals
Love it. Please find us simple folk some 9mm ammunition. Love you. Bye.
Try ammo land...$230 for 1000 rounds
Michael Weekley $23.00? 😰
@@8stringer1243 $230.00 for one thousand rounds 9MM at ammoland.com
Michael Weekley it’s all out. Thanks though.
@@tybillow252 doesn't last long...keep digging between ammo land and sportsman guide...and be quick on the trigger..or rather mouse 😉
My wife and I are subscribed to WPSN and she has always wanted to see your wife shoot and talk about women and firearms. She loves this video and would love to see more of Mrs. War Poet on the network and RUclips. Thank y'all for everything.
I just told my Husband "We're going shooting because I wear the pants around here. AND we are gonna have fun!" No complaints XD
i find it so adorable how john is just in the back loading mags while they are all shooting
Lol! There was no "getting my spouse into shooting..." She was in the U.S. Army, and she's often said she's had enough...
That BEING said, she *is* a good shot, she's no stranger to firearms, and with all the stupid Marxists on the streets of Democrat cities burning everything in sight, and then popping up on roadways with the randomness of spazzed out A.D.D. sufferers, *she did just recently purchase a new Smith EZ 9mm!*
🔴(Btw, I'd like to pause here for a sec to give a "shout out" to BLM/ANTIFA!) ~
*THANK YOU [SO] MUCH, BLM/ANTIFA, FOR RE-KINDLING MY WIFE'S INTEREST IN SELF-DEFENSE & HANDGUNS! SHE EVEN LIKES SHARP, TACTICAL KNIVES, TOO!*
*MUCH OBLIGED!*
🖒😎
Now, if I can only get her to carry the extra magazine with it... lol!
The popcorn! One of the best intros! Right up there with mad scientist Evan!
I hope John doesn't start wearing Yoga pants in an attempt to fit in with the ladies. Not even camo will make that right.
Well look at what James Reeves gets away with.
😂🤣😂
i SO appreciate the tidbit about 30 second to 2 minute modules! This was such a "duh" moment for me.
7 feminists who can't get a date disliked this video 😎
You can totally see how in love you two are with each other, it's amazing! That's what all marriages should strive to be. God bless you and the family John!
Freaking love the funny sportsman's guide intros.
I'll be honest, that cute little hop skip that she did in the intro was so adorable! ❤
Thank you for such a positive message!
Somehow I missed this video. Glad to see you wife involved and having fun. My wife of 30+ years is also involved in firearms and typically watches your videos with me. We are both retired, gray haired, arthritic, wear bifocals and both enjoy shooting. She also has her License to Carry here in Texas and we hit the range fairly often. We especially enjoy your content, manner of presenting material, and your ethos. Keep up the good work!
