Hope you like the Rhum JM. Haven’t really heard anyone say a bad word, except Rum Geeks.

your palate is insane the way you know the rum without the bottle!

I still think i've got a long way to go. a hell of a long way. I mean its wildly different to 2 years ago. But no where near the average Rum conoissuer. But don't forget, these are Familair Rums to me. It'd be different if Rums tasted the same, but Rum is the most diverse spirit category. A bit like Wine. No 2 Rums taste the same!

Took me quite a while to get proper into agricole/cane juice as well despite my love for brandy which is what many of the aged ones often remind me of in the wood profile. Now I love them but they're something quite different from "regular" rum. That funk you describe is delicious to me now along with the wood and different fruity sensations. I love the Depaz VSOP, tropical fruits for sure, citrus and I also get strawberry from it along with the lovely different oak flavors from selected small casks they use. I also enjoy the smoky volcano earth ones from Rhum JM.

I found a bottle of Damoiseau in the clearance bin at my favorite liquor store and have really enjoyed it.110 proof happy accident, I had never had anything from Guadeloupe before

      @@StevetheBarmanRumReviews 110 proof Rhum Agricole

@@gtg-inspections Ha, yeah, all Damoiseau is Rhum Agricole. In the UK though there is no 110 Proof to my knowledge, that's why I'm asking. Think they have a 40% (80 Proof) Blanc. A 50% (100 Proof) Blanc, then the Gold which is 40%, there's a 5yo Vieux at 42%, VSOP at 42%, X0 at 42%...then the Full Proof heavy aged stuff at 66.9% (so 133.8 Proof). So I was curious to see the age statement of yours...as in which bottling you have. As I'm guessing it must be an old release they don't make anymore.

@StevetheBarmanRumReviews "rested for 3 months in oak" lol not much of an age statement. It tastes very much like a Cachaca.

Now Master of Malt says Camikara has no sugar added to it (not even chill filtered). Very strange. I have no idea who to believe.

They lose a huge amount to Angel Share. So not sure if evaporation contributes to intense Fruity…and probably sweetness. But it’s not your average straight down the line Aged Rum.

Great video! Would you mix the Depaz with Worthy Park 109 and/or Appleton 12 for a Mai Tai?

Not Appleton 12 as that doesn’t nothing for me when it comes to Jamaican Funk. But deffo Worthy as they have higher Ester Levels.

True, but it has these mellow middle notes that are just long and yummy. Next blend up will be 1/4 each of WP109, A12, Neisson Eleve, and Rum Fire. If I can find the Depaz, will try that next.
