What I love about this game, which I am currently playing, is the sense of progress in terraforming the planets. I do wish, however, that there was more emphasis on the actual science of terraforming, rather than the magical approach they chose to use.
Currently playing through this for the first time and being a fan of the original 3. It feels really good, possibly because the state of current games tho
Good analysis. I may start it back up again and explore more mods. I did that with the LE trilogy and had even more of a blast than I already do playing the series. I do hear there are great mods that improve MEA.
I am currently running 49 mods and it really addresses many of the negative issue the game has without them. Clearly, I would not have dedicated over 4k hours of play to this game without them. I'm just sad that those with consoles cannot take advantage of the mods. I am currently on another playthrough in Insanity mode. And for the first time I killed the AI on Vold, exposed Sarisa on the Asari Ark but recommended keeping her as the pathfinder and also for the first time I am romancing Cora. Oh and I am playing as Scott Ryder this time.
Also got a video coming out at some point for andromeda mods, honestly some of them like the peebee mod and classic gameplay one make the game interesting to play
@@lockheartqt Looking forward to it. I've seen a lot of cool ones. Of course nothing will really make the game an S tier title like the others but from what I've seen the mods can drastically improve the experience.
I actually slowed down on the missions and just spoke to the people in the colonies. The messages on the terminals that led to additional missions made me feel like my free wandering was natural in a new colony. It's not a bad game. Perhaps it's how you play it?
@@sahararaptor7600ehhh.. you can as a human have… physical rituals with them. You just cant finish inside, as that would be very dangerous for them. Technically humans cant reproduce with any if the other species, except the asari.
I played this before playing ME trilogy and I actually liked it. Played ME trilogy after and I kinda get why people were upset, but it’s still a good game just don’t think of the trilogy when playing MEA 🎉
I really enjoyed Andromeda, it certainly was not perfect but there where many things in the story I liked. Settling a new galaxy, SAM, remnant tech. I think it was worth its sale price when it came out and these days if you buy it when on sale it is dirt cheap.
Well for a fiver I'm playing through it, it looks good, it's fun although it's here's a bunch of things you liked or didn't from ME to do all over again... not enough epic music.. we don't need fancy transitions and endless similar things to do, instead make that very simple and put the most emphasis on story, ,less stuff to do but make the things to do more gripping.
I love all 4 mass effect games but original 3 still best but like you said the action and classes was a brilliant touch for game but still play all 4 when I can
This was my first ME game and I've just finished it. I enjoyed this game. There was just so much to do in it. Theres a couple of additional tasks left to do, but overall, i enjoyed this. I really wanna know what else happens in this story with the kett and the jaddarans
@@anasshahid224nigga, the guy in the video literally explained the hate at the beginning. A rushed piece of shit, that has nothing to do with mass effect other than being in the same universe. I'm sure now it's not that bad but it should of not even been a mass effect game at all
It is a good game, the main problem is always the hype. If you played the trilogy after andromeda, you saw the standards that ME 2 brought to the series. For a good bunch of people ME2 was the best game ever, or at least on the personal top 5 - me included.
@@anasshahid224When it released it was a buggy mess and almost unplayable. The story just wasn't on the same level as the original 3 games and the animations were awful. From a personal standpoint I didn't like that the game took place between ME2 and 3, and especially given that none of the choices we made in the previous games have any impact on Andromeda. Having said that, the combat is brilliant and well done. There's a breathtaking amount of content and the level design is superb. Still a solid game and worth playing. Hopefully they do a ME4 (or 5 or w.e they want to call it) and get back to the great writing in the first three games.. Or a ME1 remake would be amazing!!
I started playing again there was some minor stuff but I loved exploring I do think only two races added cost andromeda it would have been great if they had a powerful other race like the roswell greys
Mass Effect Andromeda was worth it from the get-go. Even though it was a downgrade from the original trilogy in several respects, it's still a really good game, and it's a shame they shut down the DLC (and possible expansions).
Just played through it again. It’s still a really solid game it’s just not as good as the trilogy and has a bit too much cringe. Not the fun cringe either lol.
We only see two races in Andromeda because the Heleus cluster was apparently lifeless until the Jordaan created the Vaults and the Angara and the Kett are not even from the Galaxy we play in.
Story & Characters: ME:A was made when "quirky" marvel-style characters were at it peak. While i dont mind comedy from time to time, nor i even mind change of overall mood in comparision to OT, in MEA "comedy" and "quirkyness" is shoved down the throat. It hurts game way more than it helps. When you listen to menu theme, you expect game about brave explorers, who passed the point of no return and now they bravely push forward to discover the unknown. Meanwhile, you get game about Califronia teenagers on a roadtrip Gameplay: gameplay in itself isnt bad at all tbh. Sure UI is weird and unintuitive, and some animations are weird, but judging game just by gameplay, its solid 8/10. Soundtrack, while there is nothing standing out is serviceable (except main theme, its not as heroic as OT, and many people hated change of theme, i think that main theme of MEA is extremly good track that captures original idea of game) Multiplayer: tbh, i skipped it completly, so idk Performance: I first time launched it on 1060 on PC at highest details, and game was working extremly good on my rig, and with lastest patch, there is no major gamebreaking bugs. Conclusion: for me personally, MEA is a good game. WHile i hated it at release, it have grown on me. Game got lot of undeserved hate cause its not about Shepard, but new hero, with different goals, and some absolutely deserved hate, like rather shallow story and initial release state. I personally like Andromeda theme, and i lowkey hope that newest game will be sequel to MEA (even if im 99% sure it aint the case). I have feeling that Starfield by Bethesda is a game that Andromeda aspired to be PS2: MEA main theme is just hmmmmmmm
Marvel ruined a lot of things. I wish people stopped following trends and just minding their own business doing what they're the best at. I found myself listening to Andromeda's music more often than the OT's. A Better Beginning is my favourite. I'm on hopium to get an MEA2 one day. One can dream, right?
The game is definitely worth it, story might not be as good as main trilogy, but then again how do you top Reapers? But the characters are incredibly loveable, especially Vetra, best character in the game who has the best romance route. Really loved this game and i wish to see the cast appear in the future, thankfully I might actually be able to see them, as it is speculated that in the ME4 trailer you can see an Angara. As long as i get to see my beloved 6'4 bone dino lady Vetra imma pre order ME4.
I still believe in Indoctrination Theory 🤣 im hoping ME4 begins with the real end of ME3 then a time skip, and the rest of the game will be more down to earth. I dont expect them to top Reapers just give us impactful choices, and good gameplay and story. Maybe bring back the Dark Energy plot too.
I think the entire series needs a reboot look how disconnected all three of the trilogy are already and how different they are from each other and how they keep changing the story there's also too many inconsistencies I think it needs to go a little more fictional.
it funny you did this vid I asked either you or Kala if I should play this but never did because I could not get past the bad face design thanks I think the answer either of you gave me was yes
I'm on my last leg of my upteenth ME trilogy run through. I will revisit Andromeda next. And mod applied. Combat certainly was spot on. You are absolutely correct. Take MEA combat, put in a trilogy style game, and it will be great. I just hope Bioware doesn't try to copy Bethesda's upcoming Starfield and fill it full of character, equipment, food, supply, repair detail that forces the player to spend most of the time administering the character rather than playing the character. I preferred ME2's more streamlined approach over ME1. ME3 was still a good mix, and MEA was getting bogged down again, in a slight way. But, none are as burdensome as Bethesda's or Obsidian's RPGs.
Mass effect 2 was a major disappointment for me. I generally skip 2 as there is no point to it's story in the context of reaper invasion. And It was way too easy. Limited equipment management. There were only like 4 good weapons. 3 did everything 2 did but better and it has a good story so what's the point to play 2?
@@RubensBarrichello. I hear you. There are only 3 things I like in ME2: the characters, the hacking and the suicide mission. (Edit: + the Shadow Broker DLC.) The rest... no thanks.
@@MistahJay7 why do you think that is? ME2 is nothing but a world builder because it's story is literally a side quest, when 1 & 3 are the streamlined story. The shadow broker dlc helps a lot, if not for that I have little reason to replay 2
ME 1 is my favorite in the series. Good story writing, great characters, okay RPG system, and the combat was decent. But story is secondary to me, so in my eyes ME1 was the best the series ever got on a whole. Andromeda (if you toss-out PeeBee) has decent characters with some good stories, it's just not as impactful of a main story. Which makes sense as you're essentially space pilgrims setting up a new home, not fighting to save the galaxy. Animations are jank to this day, especially facial animations, but we now know it's because EA was forcing Frostbyte on the devs. As far as gameplay Andromeda is great. I like the combat, researching weapons/armor, scanning system, and the exploration is solid. Does it match-up to the originals? No. But it's still a really good game, and if it were named anything other than Mass Effect it would have been a beloved janky space RPG. I wanted to go back to space after Starfield massively let me down, and I've been loving my current Andromeda playthrough. I'd put it above The Outer Worlds as a space rpg as well. If you haven't played it, give it a shot! It's cheap and is good for 100hr easy.
To say it’s trash is unfair. There are moments where it’s great. There are moments where it’s alright. There are moments where it’s not good at all. It’s criminal that rather than focus on this EA put their effort into Anthem instead of this game.
I expected something at least on the same level as ME choice freedom but what we got was more exploration freedom and less choice freedom. ME trilogy had choices which had different thoughts/emotions behind them, but Andromeda was basically a minigame of picking the least unappealing option on the same spectrum.
Andromeda is a good game now. It might of had its issues but with the patches it was approved. The main reason ppl still don’t like it or overall refuse to give it a try again post patch is cause they keep comparing is to the numbered series. When its pretty clear this is a different direction
I disagree, it is because ME: Andromeda, to me, is just not engaging. It doesn't suck you in like ME 1, a game that is still not too good when compared to 2 and 3.
This is why I hate studios using their names to throw around for marketing. No, the next Mass effect wont learn anything or take anything from earlier games nor is it a big chance to be good. Literally statistically 90%+ of the team including producers and lead writers and ALL senior staff have been fired or quit either due to cost cutting or creative disagreements. So the team who will make this new Mass Effect game have majority of its devs including the ENTIRE LEADERSHIP never having worked on or written for another Mass Effect game before at all. It is literally not Bioware, the name "Bioware" is just now a skin suit for EA to parade around while trying to kick a half dead studio while its down to force it to produce something worth money. Under that kind of leadership and those circumstances you really should NOT be exited for or hopeful for any new game they make. I want new Dragon age or Mass Effect games to be good I love those IPs, but people gotta realise the cold hard fking truth and reality and stop pre-ordering or buying into the hype of games made by people you dont know, using a skin suit company name that means nothing to hype you up and get your money. Welcome to reality......
I really wish Bioware had had the chance to build the new series, every time i replay the og series i rush through mass effect 1 cause it very much plays and feels like a first entry. andromeda's characters and world had more potential from the start to me but hey, back to milky way i guess...
I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't think ME 1 was that great, or at least as good as people keep saying it is. It's fine but does show how amateurish it is especially when compared to what came after. I personally don't understand how people could find the first game better than 2 and/or 3.
A beautiful game that lacked depth. If we had got more new races and a touchup on the character creation and overall design on supporti g character looks, I feel like the multiplayer would have carried the game to at least a 7.5/10 and it being an enjoyable and long lasting experience like ME3.
Just started it and so far a few hours on I love it. The story is pretty good and I have no clue where it’s going. The graphics are very janky and twitchy for some reason (on the Series X) but I’m enjoying it.
Literally had no clue about this game played it and honestly it was a Good game and maybe just maybe in the next one they make it with more complexities now that I’m sure I’m not going to be the only person who plays this gem 💎 and want to play more .
Absolutely worth it! It may not be a masterpiece like the first trilogy, but it's still a really solid game with great gameplay and good world building and plot, and I hope it will get a sequel at some point, as unlikely as it is
Everybody forget this game is playing only in one cluster of the whole galaxy. Comparing a cluster: in the trilogy when you flew between mass relays you were in clusters where you had to use fuel between star systems (in the second part at least). If the players wouldn't have expected the same game experience came from the original trilogy and would have opened for an adventure sci-fi story in mass effect universe we could have got a new trilogy where we could have explored the whole Andromeda, faced the decisions we make in the first part, knew the crew deeper just like Ryder, found the other arks and the source/intention of the spieces who built the terraforming systems and create angara and we could have looked after more misteries like the scourge. I like Andromeda and my heart is bleeding it didn't get more parts. Note: I don't think the reason of the downgrade of this game were the bugs and glitches. A lot of game star this kind of state but at the end people forgive these mistakes.
Andromeda failed because it was mediocre all the way around. Overall quality will always shine through any bad parts of a game and Andromeda failed in that department. The story was boring. The voice acting was bad. The dialogue was terrible. The characters looked horrible and it has no replay value. The only thing it did right was combat and even that was a downgrade in several aspects.
2017: Nope 2018: Nope 2019: Nope 2020: Nope 2021: Nope 2022: Nope 2023: I'm sorry baby I'll change, I'm a changed Andromeda, I promise! I even brought you some flowers! My face was just so tired from... everything. LOL NOPE.
@@trucid2 In all honesty, I did play through MEA after all the patches and everything that was going to be done was done. The action mechanics were fun and the environments were beautiful. They just missed the one thing that makes a Mass Effect game worth the title, and they completely fumbled.
@@masterofpuppers7963did you even watch the video that was kind of the point you're not supposed to approach it like a typical Mass effect game it is not part of the trilogy.
Honestly Andromeda was a good game its problem is that it was a mass effect game after 3s ending people were praying for something that would revive the series and they were expecting that BioWare learned from mistakes that stopped 3 from being the greatest sci fi rpg of all time to being just good. People wanted Mass effect not parallel story line that takes place in the same universe but so far away that half a millennia has passed since and we have no idea what happened after the ME3 credits if Andromeda is completely removed from the mass effect universe by itself it’s honestly a great game
The Andromeda initiative has nothing to do with The Reapers. They actually make it very clear that they knew nothing about them. It's just about colonization and they had good timing.
There's a side quest that explains how the mysterious person that created the whole initiative knew about the Reaper threat and was one of the key reasons it was created. Nobody else on the Initiative knew about the Reapers though.
Personally I think you're making the jump jets seem like a positive when their overall effect on gameplay is so clearly negative. This is from an ME3 multiplayer fanatic so I like to think I have a pretty good idea what I'm talking about. Undoubtedly the movement with jump jets feels slick and responsive and satisfying. That said the enemies in this game have no way to make up for the wide disparity between your movement capabilities and theirs. With smart movement you can run literal circles around your enemies and you become basically immortal, even on insanity difficulty. That's before even factoring in defensive abilities like passives, energy drain, tac cloak or anything else you could think of. In Me3 being out of position was devastating because you were vulnerable when running to a new piece of cover. In Andromeda this is no longer the case without any defensive powers whatsoever you can pretty easily faceroll any encounter even on insanity just by making good use of your jump jets. In fact I'd go so far as to say that it makes dying pretty difficult even on insanity. Long story short jump jets are very fun but destroy game balance.
I liked this game enough to buy it originally on base PS4 and spend 110 or so hours doing every side mission and exploring every nook and cranny of its worlds, then, not thinking I would, I did it again when I bought it on Xbox One X. That said, I did find it mildly disappointing because, for the most part, its characters and story (while I still enjoyed it) felt very "been there, done that" just within Bioware's games alone and none of it in that regard felt as impactful as what we got with the trilogy. The same goes for the soundtrack, which I think is very good mind you, but not nearly as memorable as what we got in the trilogy that came before. The game sounds great though; I love the ambient sounds. I did run into a handful of bugs, but was fortunate enough not to run into many that broke the experience too much on PS4. On One X they had worked on the game since so there were almost no bugs I could find, except for the fact that still, the game crashes when you try to enter the character creator from the ship, which sucks. Anyway, that was a lot to say when what I was just going to say is that I am impressed by how great it still looks. Aside from human faces being ugly, the game looks fantastic. Drop some raytracing in and it looks about as good as most high-quality modern games.
I might actually enjoy it is they fixed the framerate issues, poor animation/ lack of polish. Game breaking saves. I think Ryder and Peebee relationship is kind of cute and sweet. No, it's not quite Shepard and Liara, or Inquisitor and Sera, but I still like it. If you play as Scott and not Sara the relationship with Cora is okay I guess, she never really has any depth except I was a soldier who served with Asari.
The voices of either young Ryder were not as good as the Shepard voices. Those had a better range of emotion. The male Ryder sounded too much like a newscaster or gameshow host. Female Ryder sounded like a high school kid.
Honestly I started playing it the launch weekend and I never encountered any gameplay bugs requiring reloading saves that I hadn't encountered in the earlier games things like phasing into terrain or coming out of conversation hovering above the ground occasionally. I also don't care about cutscene glitches or facial appearance details like looking tired especially when the character being tired makes sense. I'm still angry at whoever canceled the story DLCs. Andromeda easily has my favorite gameplay in the series so far because there were a lot of gameplay changes between Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect 2 I disliked and while 3 corrected, or partially corrected. some of those it made one worse while Andromeda fixed them all.
I have completed this game to 99% completion of ps4 once (a task was bugged). I completed xb1 to 100% completion twice and 100% once on pc. And I can say that there’s enough here to get you interested in what comes next for the series. But because of the whole me3 bad taste in the mouth fiasco, BioWare never stood a chance.
Big coincidence, I just tried to play it again but for me It's still just not worth it... the story sucks and the animations are so awkward haha but tbh i also didn't think we needed a new mass effect, maybe very controversial to say but I loved the first 3 and have played it so many times and it just not possible to recreate it. They are now also making mass effect 4 and i just don't see the point besides making many off the loyal fan base. But of course I still hope that the new Mass Effect will be amazing and I have a lot of hope in Michael Gamble to make a great game.
Other than story and the almost inexcusable lack of Quarians, I had a decent time with it. Too bad EA gave up on it. I think some DLC's would have been good for it. Going all the way to another galaxy and only introducing two new alien races was a missed opportunity.
Well yeah all mass effect games are worth it every year besides I play mass effect every year love it so much it’s my favorite gaming franchise and we all can’t wait for the next one we’ll be so surprised besides it probably won’t release until 2025 or 2026 we’ll see
I was ready for a new adventure. So sad and still a bit angry that the community killed it. Also, stop comparing it to the WHOLE of the ME games, It's a fresh start Give it time to breathe. I
After over (update 4454 hrs 45 min) by EA's count of playing this game, I finally realized why I enjoy it more than all the other Mass Effect games. I have owned all 4 games since the day of their release. So, playing any of them at any time has never been an issue, and I have been single & retired for over 25 years, so I have the time available to play as much as I want. It’s because of the multitude of diverse quests, projects, and personal interactions that one is presented with. None of these must be completed in any specific sequence to achieve an outcome. And many can be skipped altogether, which will not adversely affect the game overall. As a result, I find the game very relaxing and non-stressful to play. I will say, however, that my game is very heavily modified with 48 Nexus mods, which overcomes many of those complaints from those playing an unmodified version of the game. As a longtime ME player and fan with over 4454 hours of MEA single-player play. And still with only 99% completion of the game. I am left with many storyline questions. Questions that BioWare should be willing to follow up on at some point.
Such as; 1: Why didn’t every Pathfinder get a scout ship? (Update, I found the answer to this in one of the books). I.e., Mass Effect Andromeda: Nexus Uprising Book 1 Mass Effect: Initiation Book 2 Mass Effect Andromeda: Annihilation Book 3 2: Who is this Benefactor, and where are they now? (I have no definitive proof, but I know who this is and why they are not showing up in Andromeda.) Remember Project Overlord from ME2LE, if you will. 3: Who killed or ordered Jian Garson killed and why? (Update, I THINK I know who did this from the book). 4: Why didn’t the Kogan people get their own Pathfinder? 5: Why is the Tempest not at least armed with defensive weapons?
I genuinely hope that some of this is included in the new game.
@@cruxofthesubject1402 As I said, I have no proof but think about project overlord from ME2, and you will begin to see where I am going with this. Also, consider what entity in the Milky Way, corporate or otherwise, with anywhere near the financial resources to finance the creation of five arks and the Nexus. The Citadel Council certainly would have never approved of this, not only because of the AI development involved but just the acceptance of the fact that there was an existential threat to all advanced life in the Milky Way just months away. Shepard was able to convince them until they were under attack. So, with that information to consider, it’s not difficult to come to the same conclusion that I have. I have not yet figured out why Jean Garson was killed. After all, she was nothing more than a super salesperson and posed no real threat to the Benefactor per se.
Your 2nd paragraph is so spot on! Some days I didn't felt like I wanted to go into a big battle so I just did some smaller quests or just wandered around with the Nomad finding new stuff. But other days when I felt I wanted to do something badass I went down a vault or beat an Architect. But in ME2 and ME3 I can't really do this which breaks the immersion for me. Games are supposed to be fun, not like comedy fun but a pleasurable experience to escape the stress of the real world. Andromeda is perfect for that.
@@dorottyapapp I absolutely agree with your view on this. In those situations, I try to fill out the entire map and all its perimeters. And everything in between. To this day, I often discover something I have never seen, a new building to search or a vault that I had not previously found. After all those hours of play, I still have not reached 100% completion of the game. I have completed 99.6% just this year.
I actually think Andromeda is a good game, better than ME1 even, they did the open world right, lots of empty spaces sure, but still a lot to do and explore and that's basically what comes with exploring a new galaxy. Yes, it severely lacks enemy variety, new alien species and a charismatic/engaging villain, perhaps more political drama within the Nexus, since we kind of missed the more interesting part which happened before we arrived. The writing is not as terrible as people make it seem, Liam could've fell off the ship and I wouldn't have noticed, but I actually liked Peebee, Drack, Vetra, even Cora.
Mass Effect 1 introduced (of the top of my head) at least ten unique alien species. Andromeda barely managed 2; and they were two of the weakest in series history. Mass Effect also had humans, which Andromeda sorely lacks.
Mass Effect Andromeda has good qualities like the combat was fresh and felt right and weren't linear like previous games, the design of planets and the galaxy and the free roam. However didn't enjoy weapon upgrading and customisation as other things just felt unnecessary to put into it, never got how Andromeda was an initiative that took off before events of Mass effect 3 to preserve the different species but everything's was way different and advanced than that in Mass effect 3 like the omni tool was totally different, like they were in cryo sleep during the journey so how was every aspect of their tech different. Didn't like that you could talk to absolutely anyone, just felt like a waste, they could have focused the dialogues to the important characters and made them more developed. Too many side missions that were absolutely unnecessary. Hated how if you had 2 missions on a planet you would complete one return to the tempest but the tempest took off and would have to land again. I remember playing Mass Effect Andromeda for the first time and quiting mid game, played Mass Effect 3 and the difference was too massive interms of how engaging the world in ME3 was to ME:A. If Mass Effect 4 has the combat and World exploration of ME:A but the quality of stories and and interesting protagonist, it will be perfect
@@bigzachful Yes but Mass Effect Andromeda suffered massively because it was serverly underdeveloped, it wasnt not meant to be released in the time frame that it was. This is why you find that in as much people dislike Andromeda they are not going to be as pissed about it than ME3 original ending and Galaxy readiness fiasco because we all now what happened behind the scenes. You can tell even with the dialogue that its not a complete game but just patched up to look representable.
I don't think linear level design is bad on its own nor is open level design good on its own. They are both neutral terms to me. And I think a well made linear level is usually way better than more open levels.
Anyone that says the gameplay in this game is bad are just bad at games in general, complete and utter burger delusions and probably bronze players in any competitive game they play. Story really was meh but it was written by college graduates mostly so whatever. I enjoyed the game for the most part, but jesus man people gotta stop complaining about fluid gameplay I want more of it! Please just get better! 😭
There was a lot of disingenuous narratives about this game from the outrage reactionary part of the youtube industry. Is this game flawed? Certainly, I'd say the flaws outweigh the qualities. There are good idea in this game that aren't delved into deeply enough. Like Dragon Age Inquisition, EA will overcorrect and the next ME will be in the Milky Way, which we have done.
Relative to the games that came after it? ... definitely yes. It is worth playing in 2023. Every game that comes out these days come broken at release.
I bought a copy for $5 last year. I played once without patches, half a playthrough with patches. Honestly, the bugs made it actually kinda fun. It lost what little charm it had once the bugs were patched out. I dont plan on finishing the second playthrough.
To me Andromeda falls flat in terms of characters and story, but it's definitely got the most fun gameplay in the franchise. It also looks absolutely amazing. As the only mass effect game actually designed to be played on ps4 and Xbox one hardware, the prerendered cutscenes are crisp as hell. I remember getting shivers every time I saw the Tempest in flight. Don't get me wrong, the Normandy is the far superior ship, but the graphics and tiny details in the ship's movements are gorgeous. Also as a fan of the lore and tech in mass effect, I like seeing the little things that the original game didn't pay attention to. Like having realistic loading animations rather than having Ryder just bitchslap the weapon when ever they reload, or the visible RCS thrusters that fire when the tempest changes course. I like how you actually get to see the ship flying from planet to planet and how you can actually see the location where you are through the viewports while exploring the ship, rather than just having a static sky box. I like the more sleek design of the omnitool, the armour, the weapons. All in all, Andromeda is an amazing game with a lot to love, but it's just poorly written.
Peebee is easily my favourite character in the game. Also heavily disagree with the characters being weak. Liam can get tossed out an airlock for all I care. But I thought Jaal, Peebee, Drack Vetra, Suvi and Kallo were all Great characters that I cared about at the end of the game. Not everyone can be at the level of the OG crew of the old games like Garrus and Liara lol I don't think it's fair to compare everyone to them
well im gonna be brutally honest here and maybe ya´ll wont agree and its ok. first im trying the hell out to play this like its an entire new game (like if the trilogy doesnt exist) . everything looks great in the game but a game is not good because of graphics. combat is very good but biggest complain is the fact that in this one the squadmates are uuuuuseless especially if you came from the trilogy (playing on insanity) you´ll know that was a nice wxperience fighting as shepard on insanity difficulty. but here the squad sucks as hell and enemies are kamikaze types that only focus on you and many times i find myself surrounded by them and they pay no attention to my squad so tactics makes no sense in this game instead in the trilogy i would use some members to distract while i flank which made me feel like a real soldier honestly. also you cannot tell them what power to use. big let down for me as this was a crucial part in the combat before. and some quests makes 0 sense. there was a quest were you had to go deep inside a cave just to scan 2 people to see if they were lying to the leader i was like WTF man??? so is it worth it,well if you never played with shepard go for it.but otherwise you´ll see just what i wrote here!!!
I was pissed they offed Ryders dad so quickly as he was a well written interesting seasoned character, plus, zero emotion from the other characters when he goes. Barely an inconvenience, apparantly.
I think removing Paragon and Renegade was a huge plus actually. You're not forcibly locked into one style of dialogue (as ME1 and 2 made you basically go all Paragon or all Renegade. Mass Effect 3 did fix this though.) and when given a moral choice, you're presented with two equally valid options instead of one "good" choice and one "evil" choice. It's way less binary and way more interesting. I don't think Andromeda is better than ME2 and ME3, but I do think it's better than 1. I think people look back with a fondness for 1's characters because of their development in ME2 and 3, but I don't find them that interesting in ME1 alone.
Andromeda definitely has the best gameplay imo but the crew and story is the real problem. I wish they would have nailed the squad mates because that's my favorite part of the ME games. also how do you get into a whole new universe and only have 3 new races?
I like Andromeda. I just recently bought it and I can confidently tell you at least on PC. There are no bugs or glitches. I've experienced none and I think they may have updated the face animations because at least in my opinion they do not look bad nor as bad as people like to make it sound
It could be nice game, if it wasn't named Mass Effect. Shepard's character is really well written, so stake was high. Playing as young normie without past was... nah. Classic main character in every story. Mass effect's races were strangly ,,updated" for the worse and without interesting characters. Main antagonist was... yeah. Just was. Saren, Illusive man, even Udina. They were someone. Clear goal, not just being evil to be evil. And Ryder wasn't the brightest. SAM was doing everything (real main character, no kidding). As Mass effect 4/10. As s-f game 6/10/.
The combat system, powers and most importantly the control and mobility of mass effect Andromeda is GREAT and genuinely a selling point of the game over the trilogy. But honestly the rest of the game is meh
I love the combat in Andromeda but I still think ME3 has the best overall combat tbh when factoring in combat set pieces and enemy AI. Plus it feels a bit more smoother to jumping from enemy to enemy as a vanguard.
In Mass Effect 1 the only decisions that matter is does Wrex survive and who dies between Ashley and Kaiden. All the other decisions do not matter until Mass Effect 2 or 3. So saying that Andromeda is bad for lack of important decisions feels wrong because it's also true for Mass Effect 1 and a lot of the Andromeda decisions would have clearly mattered if there had been a sequel
The problem is that most of the fans compare Andromeda to the whole trilogy and not to the previous games separately, which is not fair. All the games have their own problems just different ones, neither of them is perfect. I think, over all, all of them are good on their own. Who likes which the most comes down to personal taste in my opinion.
I disagree, in Mass Effect 1, you get to spare or kill the council, you get to choose how you progress the quest in Noveria, you can change the morality of your companions, and you can choose 3 different backgrounds that give you 3 unique mini quest that expands on Shepherd.
Mass Effect Andromeda has BIG issues, story is lacking , vetra is the only one good among the squad with drakk in second. No new sexy aliens. And the worst one for me is Ryder acts like an immature brat trying to be funny and relatable to some player, which I would have appreciated it if the writing wasn't like it is.....the game only made me miss Tali.
I’ve tried to play Andromeda multiple times, it’s TERRIBLY boring. The characters, the lack of dialogue choices, and the story itself really makes it bland. The combat is a nonessential element to the game, yet they focused heavily on it (not the clunky movement though? And the Nomad, dear god) I’ll hope that Mass Effect 4 is brought back to its roots. I’d rate it a 2/10
The Paragon/ Renegade System was not multiple stores-it was basically two stories. Good Shepard out Bad. If you did anything with nuance, you lost out on all the interuots and bonuses. I do believe they could have created more consequences based on choice in this game, however.
WORTH IT in 2023? answer: No How much did you get from EA for this product placement? You need to make advertisements visible, this ad is against the youtube rules.
I don't think that is fair, the game is not really selling for its sale price anymore. I recently was looking to replay the Mass Effect games so I looked them up on the PlayStation store. At the time of this comment they are part of the summer sale event, Andromeda was 6.99 and Legendary Edition was 14.99. 22$ for all 4 Mass Effect games, I call that VERY worth it.
To be fair they maid their money back in the 1st week of Andromeda coming out, AND if we are being honest with ourselves it wasn't fan reaction it was the media reaction because I think EA wanted to shift to games as a service and they got a lot of shills to help them out because they had plenty of money made in a short amount of time but then they effed up on Anthem and now we are right back to where we should have been years ago. Andromeda wasn't bad. It was just underdeveloped. Also the villains in ME2 were extremely weak. The collectors had no personality and the Illusive man was driven by the plot and not the plot being driven by the character. If it wasn't for TIM being well acted and there being some air of mystery about him at the time ME2 came out he'd have been considered one of the worst characters to be in a BioWare game. The only thing they did with TIM was have him know all the answers to the test and he was such a terrible character when you spend the time to break it down.
@channel45853 What makes him interesting? He always has all the answers and his character depth is literally just "control the reapers to advance mankind."
The villains in andromeda were just bad because they were cliche 80s bad guys with no depth, however you were wrong to compare them to the reapers because as bad guys yours was an apples and oranges comparison, simply put even if the Kett and the Archon were great bad guys they still would not be in the same category as the reapers.
What I love about this game, which I am currently playing, is the sense of progress in terraforming the planets. I do wish, however, that there was more emphasis on the actual science of terraforming, rather than the magical approach they chose to use.
lol yup colonizing those planets even with other aliens already there lol
Currently playing through this for the first time and being a fan of the original 3. It feels really good, possibly because the state of current games tho
All the bugs are long gone .
try first person mod
Its a bad mass effect game, but still better than starfield.
True
If that's the case, it's still worth a shot. I might get it as a Christmas gift for myself.
@@OrphicPolytheist Its not that bad, story and characters are trash, but gameplay feels good.

@@MrHorsepro would you be able to send me a list of mods you use? I'm very interested ☺️

Good thing I’m starting with this one lol means the story and lore of characters will just get better for me

I actually slowed down on the missions and just spoke to the people in the colonies. The messages on the terminals that led to additional missions made me feel like my free wandering was natural in a new colony. It's not a bad game. Perhaps it's how you play it?
Tali & Vetra are best girls. 😍
100% agree
DAKOTA27❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊
You can't "breed" with either of them, so i didn't go for them, although i really wish quarians were able to mingle with humans, i loved Tali
Liara & Peebee are best girls.
I did the same, and I agree
Did the same, fucking love both games. These games really are special.
I enjoyed it too, never understood the hate.
@@anasshahid224nigga, the guy in the video literally explained the hate at the beginning. A rushed piece of shit, that has nothing to do with mass effect other than being in the same universe. I'm sure now it's not that bad but it should of not even been a mass effect game at all
@@anasshahid224 Because it was so buggy when it first came out .
The Omni-tool scanner was very well implemented and they shockingly get a lot of mileage out of it.
Currently playing through the legendary edition of the trilogy and im curious if andromeda has gotten any improvements over the years
WOW .. hard to believe that game out over 5 years ago now.. whew.
Makes me feel old.
I started playing again there was some minor stuff but I loved exploring I do think only two races added cost andromeda it would have been great if they had a powerful other race like the roswell greys
Next ME should have much more new alien races
Mass Effect Andromeda was worth it from the get-go. Even though it was a downgrade from the original trilogy in several respects, it's still a really good game, and it's a shame they shut down the DLC (and possible expansions).
It’s worth I love it tbh and it was my first Mass Effect game. Therefore, I played the whole series after and it was amazing.
This comes off as cope-writing
Story & Characters: ME:A was made when "quirky" marvel-style characters were at it peak. While i dont mind comedy from time to time, nor i even mind change of overall mood in comparision to OT, in MEA "comedy" and "quirkyness" is shoved down the throat. It hurts game way more than it helps. When you listen to menu theme, you expect game about brave explorers, who passed the point of no return and now they bravely push forward to discover the unknown. Meanwhile, you get game about Califronia teenagers on a roadtrip
Gameplay: gameplay in itself isnt bad at all tbh. Sure UI is weird and unintuitive, and some animations are weird, but judging game just by gameplay, its solid 8/10. Soundtrack, while there is nothing standing out is serviceable (except main theme, its not as heroic as OT, and many people hated change of theme, i think that main theme of MEA is extremly good track that captures original idea of game)
Multiplayer: tbh, i skipped it completly, so idk
Performance: I first time launched it on 1060 on PC at highest details, and game was working extremly good on my rig, and with lastest patch, there is no major gamebreaking bugs.
I have feeling that Starfield by Bethesda is a game that Andromeda aspired to be
PS2: MEA main theme is just hmmmmmmm
Marvel ruined a lot of things. I wish people stopped following trends and just minding their own business doing what they're the best at.
I found myself listening to Andromeda's music more often than the OT's. A Better Beginning is my favourite.
I'm on hopium to get an MEA2 one day. One can dream, right?
Hopefully in the next mass effect we could play as the other species in the game bc i would love to play as a krogen
Mass effect 5 not 4
I think the entire series needs a reboot look how disconnected all three of the trilogy are already and how different they are from each other and how they keep changing the story there's also too many inconsistencies I think it needs to go a little more fictional.
it funny you did this vid I asked either you or Kala if I should play this but never did because I could not get past the bad face design thanks I think the answer either of you gave me was yes
can someone explain why there is a monthly subscription and a deluxe edition?
Deluxe edition consists of mp stuff. Its EA forcing you to buy mp stuff even if youre only in it for the singleplayer.
I would say Drack is as good and well developed as Vetra, his story is great and he brings great banter to the Nomad.
Mass Effect Anniversary edition should of definitely remade the games with Andromeda combat and just make it one massive game.
@@RubensBarrichello. I hear you. There are only 3 things I like in ME2: the characters, the hacking and the suicide mission. (Edit: + the Shadow Broker DLC.) The rest... no thanks.
@@RubensBarrichello. "No point to its story" lol ME2 has the most world building and lore in all 3 games.
@@MistahJay7 why do you think that is? ME2 is nothing but a world builder because it's story is literally a side quest, when 1 & 3 are the streamlined story. The shadow broker dlc helps a lot, if not for that I have little reason to replay 2
Playing again now to finish. Started in 2021 on Xbox One x. Playing now on series X and it's cut scenes haven't aged well. Good game overall though.
Im loving this game in first person view
Same.

Mass Effect 1,2 and 3 gegot the console 2120p/60fps patch but this game is stuck at 1080p/30 fps?
@@MistahJay7 Yeah. That person is probably TIM and he included non humans so that he could get financial support from them.
Am playimg it on my steam deck and i get up to 40fps ... Plays really well ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I might actually enjoy it is they fixed the framerate issues, poor animation/ lack of polish.
Any Mass Effect game is worth it at anytime.
Andromeda is 100x better than Starfield.
One of the things i think mass effect does best is the make the planets feel like another planet.
You know how hard it is to write Amazing Interactive stories?!?

1: Why didn’t every Pathfinder get a scout ship? (Update, I found the answer to this in one of the books). I.e., Mass Effect Andromeda: Nexus Uprising Book 1 Mass Effect: Initiation Book 2 Mass Effect Andromeda: Annihilation Book 3
2: Who is this Benefactor, and where are they now? (I have no definitive proof, but I know who this is and why they are not showing up in Andromeda.) Remember Project Overlord from ME2LE, if you will.
3: Who killed or ordered Jian Garson killed and why? (Update, I THINK I know who did this from the book).
4: Why didn’t the Kogan people get their own Pathfinder?
5: Why is the Tempest not at least armed with defensive weapons?
I genuinely hope that some of this is included in the new game.
Do you have a video or something about the Benefactor? I'm very interested in who you think it is if you're willing to say.
Thanks for watching & not yet but it is on my to-do list so don't worry! :)

As I said, I have no proof but think about project overlord from ME2, and you will begin to see where I am going with this.
You know how hard it is to write amazing interactive stories?!?
I just started mines back up
There was a lot of disingenuous narratives about this game from the outrage reactionary part of the youtube industry. Is this game flawed? Certainly, I'd say the flaws outweigh the qualities. There are good idea in this game that aren't delved into deeply enough. Like Dragon Age Inquisition, EA will overcorrect and the next ME will be in the Milky Way, which we have done.
I loved mass effect 3 co op but haven’t tried this
Relative to the games that came after it? ... definitely yes. It is worth playing in 2023. Every game that comes out these days come broken at release.
I only got one question is it canon?
Not everyone can be at the level of the OG crew of the old games like Garrus and Liara lol I don't think it's fair to compare everyone to them
Does this game have cross play? It would make the queue times so much faster 😭
Is the multiplayer still active?
Me3's is!
Its a good gamw, however it would have been better with world building dlc.
well im gonna be brutally honest here and maybe ya´ll wont agree and its ok.
first im trying the hell out to play this like its an entire new game (like if the trilogy doesnt exist) .
everything looks great in the game but a game is not good because of graphics.
combat is very good but biggest complain is the fact that in this one the squadmates are uuuuuseless
especially if you came from the trilogy (playing on insanity) you´ll know that was a nice wxperience fighting as shepard on insanity difficulty. but here the squad sucks as hell and enemies are kamikaze types that only focus on you and many times i find myself surrounded by them and they pay no attention to my squad so tactics makes no sense in this game
instead in the trilogy i would use some members to distract while i flank which made me feel like a real soldier honestly.
also you cannot tell them what power to use. big let down for me as this was a crucial part in the combat before.
and some quests makes 0 sense. there was a quest were you had to go deep inside a cave just to scan 2 people to see if they were lying to the leader i was like WTF man???
so is it worth it,well if you never played with shepard go for it.but otherwise you´ll see just what i wrote here!!!
@@dorottyapapp I agree.
I disagree, in Mass Effect 1, you get to spare or kill the council, you get to choose how you progress the quest in Noveria, you can change the morality of your companions, and you can choose 3 different backgrounds that give you 3 unique mini quest that expands on Shepherd.
More important question, did it have quarians added? No? Then hell no, toss it
Asari clear
A lot better than Starfield
I agree too
Mass Effect Andromeda has BIG issues, story is lacking , vetra is the only one good among the squad with drakk in second. No new sexy aliens. And the worst one for me is Ryder acts like an immature brat trying to be funny and relatable to some player, which I would have appreciated it if the writing wasn't like it is.....the game only made me miss Tali.
Is it openworld?
Opened universe and world's
Started playing this after finishing legendary edition, and the improved movement and combat is almost negated by the 30fps lock on console
I don't care what people say
Andromeda was a great game
Does this questing even need asking? The game was not worth it back then it's not worth it now.
As of right now on PlayStation store its 7$.
Opinions are like rectums; nearly everyone has one, and almost all stink.
I still believe it's better than starfield lol
WORTH IT in 2023?
answer:
No
How much did you get from EA for this product placement?
You need to make advertisements visible, this ad is against the youtube rules.
I don't think that is fair, the game is not really selling for its sale price anymore. I recently was looking to replay the Mass Effect games so I looked them up on the PlayStation store. At the time of this comment they are part of the summer sale event, Andromeda was 6.99 and Legendary Edition was 14.99. 22$ for all 4 Mass Effect games, I call that VERY worth it.
@@boomer150 imagine buying EA games
Local gamer can't fathom the idea of different opinions. More at 11.
Andromeda is absolutely worth it if you are a fan of space exploration. Love the entire Mass Effect series.
Quick answer, it's a big no. Story is awful, combat is repetitive
I never understood this take, the Illusive Man was a very interesting antagonist and could keep people's interests.
@channel45853 What makes him interesting? He always has all the answers and his character depth is literally just "control the reapers to advance mankind."
Sorry not sorry Uncle Drack is the best Krogan in the whole series
its a bad mass effect game but a decent science fiction game.
