I just finished painting the front bumper of a Tesla Model S with spray cans. I didn't use these; mine came from Touchup Direct. It was real automotive paint, but the cans in this video are better because of the adjustable pattern, which mine didn't have. Bottom line, if you do it right, you can do small touchups with spray paint and it can actually look professional. I'm a DIYer, not a pro. I learned a lot from this video.
Had my wife lock her keys in her car running before work. Now we've gotta do this to the a pillar haha. Thanks for the video! Didn't notice you guys were local!! I laughed.
Hello to all of you out there in Idaho! What a great video! Well organized, informative, no extraneous material. I had never seen that style of aerosol can. I had just purchased some paint tinted to factory code and put in rattle cans, from a local auto parts store which has an automotive paint focus, but they did not have these! S1918 midcoat/intercoat over the whole panel for blending looks like a neat trick! How did you prep the whole panel? Scuff with a grey scotchbrite, sand (with what grit?), or ???
Wow! So impressive. Beautiful blend, and more importantly - the only blending video I have found using rattle cans. Thank you for filling that gap. Since the new paint was going on the left edge of the front door, why didn't you need to blend left into the rear door as well?
I have to say this is the best informational video on how to use a spot blender I have found. Your responses to the other questions have been great too! I would like a little clarifier. Do I need to sand off the old clear coat on the rest of the paneling that I am not doing a repair on or does the spot blender save you time on not having to sand it? Also, do you apply the spot blender over the new clear coat as well?
Thank you! We’re glad you found the video helpful! You will still need to sand the whole panel in order to get proper adhesion for the blender but you don’t need to sand all the clear off, just a light scuff with 600 grit will work great, making sure there are no shiny spots. This specific blender is not for using on top of fresh clear. There is a different blending agent that is used to blend fresh clear coat into existing clear coat, but that is typically used when doing small, spot blends.
Ok it looks great, but how do you prep the area next to the area to be painted so its not just laying on top of the adjacent clear coat/finish areas? Especially if they are finished and clear coated. TY
Nice vid ! Would you say the process could be replicated with a metallic green pearl im having issues getting a repair in the same area to blend ? Its Honda midori green
Absolutely! One of the most important things to make a metallic or pearl blend properly is the base coat blender. That it what’s helps your metallics and pearls lay down properly.
Sadly we can’t ship outside our designated boundaries but there are a lot of auto paint stores that sell similar products! I would look around your area and see if there are any near you!
Hello good sir I'm actually trying to look for a good quality matching paint company in a can for sure I will be using the company I choose very often but my number one thing is definitely on how fast I can get the paint that's a big thing because of my customers
Sadly we don’t ship outside of our are in North Idaho/Eastern Washington. If you go to lusidtechnologies.com you should be able to find if there is a supplier in your area!
The primer is a just a 1K sealer, the color is from GenRock put in a Spray Max can, the clear is a 2K Glamour Clear from Spray Max, and the Spot Blender is also from Spray Max.
The best thing to do is go to a local auto paint store and see if they have something similar in whatever paint line is carried. All major paint lines have a blending agent, the only question is if they can put it in an aerosol for you.
Finally!!. I've been searching for clear base to do blending for weeks. Message sent to company regarding purchase
I'm seriously impressed with those spray cans!!
Yeah, as they say, "Nice Cans!"

I think this is the first time I ever seen a can that can spray like a paint gun this is not only cost-effective the cleanup as well

Thank you! As for the prep, we recommend 600-800 grit sand paper or a gray scuff pad.
Good work and great instructions

Fantastic video, I am currently doing this to a door so picked up several tips!

This turned out really good a really sweet finish

Just prep the rest of the panel with 800 grit. That will give any paint or clear that you apply something to grab onto.
Very nice job 👏

WOW, those spray cans make a major difference. Where do you get those???????
We would recommend going into your local paint supply store and see if they carry them!
@@autopaintplusid4197 Thank you. I appreciate your response and your videos.
is the first product you used, prior to base coast, the same as adhesion promoter?
No, it’s like clear base coat. It gives you a “wet bed” for your metallics to lay more evenly when doing a blend.
To Accubrush Paint Edgers,
Could you please tell me types of four paints, and do you have a website where I can get the supplies too.
Sadly we can’t ship outside our designated boundaries but there are a lot of auto paint stores that sell similar products! I would look around your area and see if there are any near you!
Very interesting that there was no polishing of the final clear coat required.
Hi
I spoke to Eric in St.paul MN he told me I can't get the cans of aerosol I needed

don't you still see basecoat overspray in the blend area ?
Nope, that’s what the blending agent is for, it helps the metallics lay better so you don’t see the transition.
How can I get my hands on some AA Yellow?!
I would recommend going to your nearest automotive paint store and see if they have what you need! Sadly we can’t ship out of our area.
Can you tell me the names of the cans, each one, please🙏

Paint job came out good 👍 but as a professional detailer at a auto body shop to many swirl marks lol
Don’t go overboard on the Max spot blender or you’ll get runs. Just enough to blend.
Very true!
Do you sand between coats? Or before clear coat?
You don’t do any sanding between coats or before clear. Just follow the recommended flash times between coats 👍🏻
Cool!!!
You're standing right in front of the blend area though 😢
We show multiple angles of the door at the end of the video 👍🏻
