Ahh, see, the coffee is still brewing into the cups though. You remove a moka pot from heat before the brew is done. It’s easier on a stove where you can turn off the heat without it retaining some.
An Italian that always used a moka pot here: first of all, great content! :-) that been said, possibly the main reason why an the gemini has no handle it's beause in Italy the vast majority of houses has gas stovetop, and when you are using a moka on a gas stove you simply stop the brewing process by turning it off as you have no hot surface that can keep giving out heat to the moka... so using something like the gemini, you could turn off the gas, wait a couple second that the brewing ends completely and you coud take your cups with you to drink, getting back to the moka pot when it's completely cold and secure to handle :-)

What I learned is, MoMA chose coffee brewers that definitely exhibited form over function. I don't want to burn myself and that glass coffee pot needs a hole in the lid to stop it glugging.
I am FLOORED that that first carafe made it to you in one piece without any extra packing material in the box. 😵💫 There really are postal deities and they have favorites.
Honestly, the first one made me kinda angry after seeing the "gluckling" of it's pour, ESPECIALLY after checking their website for the price. 110€?!? Why wouldn't they just sell a chemex? Objectively better design, subjectively nicer looking..
I picked up an item very much like the Gemini Express at a thrift shop in Pittsburg last year, made by GSI Outdoor. It's very similar to the standard Moka pot (including being able to use the standard basket, screen, and gasket. While the Express has that clever two-spout head, the one I picked up has a single copper tube which goes up a few inches and turns back down. It does, have a rubber protector in the tube, so it's possible to move it when hot. I suspect it was marketed as a campfire coffee maker.
Eva Solo here in Denmark are something you can buy cheap-o in convenience stores, if you find it expensive it is around 60USD at max... More normally it hovers around 50USD for that product.

Yes! I listened to his first episode, but I have no idea who most of the people are so i just didn't find it interesting. However an episode with Morgan I will definitely tune in!
That moka pot... Does look nice, I won't argue. But considering we have two moka pots of this general design in my kitchen and both have a small plastic handle (I can't find a good example still in store, but Bialetti had a good example of this at a time) so you can at least handle the pot around the stove to get it on a cooling spot when your cups are brewed. This pure metal, no handle design is sleek, but screams second degree burn hazard.
Hey Morgan! Do you think you can do a video reviewing Cometeer Coffee? I keep seeing ads for it and intrigued if its actually good and would like to hear your opinion of it!
The second brewer would be good to having a serving tool on hand. When it gets hot enough use serving tool to scoot over off burner. The problem is for people who do not have glass tops. With a gas stove you could just turn it off but an electric burner with risen ring plates would be a disaster. I am not deep into coffee, I just use a French press or Keurig (already here) but I love seeing your reviews about coffee.
14:55 recently got a moka pot, what i do is use the top part to hold the coffee basket. it sits on top of the spout and the wall, making it easy to have a level. it does mean i have to clean the top part if i mess up though...
18:54 all aluminum construction makes "adding a handle" after the fact a bit harder. Welding Aluminum requires TIG welding, and I do not have an argon bottle, if I did I'd offer to "fix" that for you. but I agree that a thermally insulated handle on the back of the... grouphead? Spout? The top, would be an excellent addition. Hard to go wrong with a Mocapot.
Really enjoying your channel. Just wondering if you've ever tried a Vietnamese egg coffee. It's to die for (just a figure of speech not to be taken literally), they use moka pots alot.
The Solo is visibly closest to a Chemex I think. Design of the filter is reminiscent of the folded paper cone as well, and the capacity is on par. If you're a fan of that style of brew, it's a nice little visual/stylistic changeup I think. (Which you kind of touched on; different pouring experience for instance.)
As a Moka Pot user, trying to stop the extraction on the Gemini without getting coffee everywhere would be rather difficult and a deal breaker for me. The only solution I could think would be to have a small bowl of water that you could dunk the bottom half of the Gemini into. I love the concept and getting the first tsp of brew from the spout would make Cuban Coffee a lot easier to brew.
This seems good for cold coffee drinkers. I don't like hot but warm coffee. I also like making it into ice coffee. This seems like a good use for that since it won't keep it warm. You could fill it and refrigerate it. So lots of up front prep but easy after. A baby bottle cleaner is always good for these like this. No kids in our home but we use it often.
RE Eva Solo: The carafe does double duty at dinner. You decant the wine from the Bota Box to bring to the table for dinner. When the wine is gone, brew some coffee in it to have with brandy post prandial.
My idea for how to add a handle: a separate piece shaped shaped sort of like a tuning fork. A straight part which you hold, and a "U" shape that you position under the "wings". The two arms could have a little protrusion at the ends to create a positive grip (preventing it from sliding).
Isn't the moka pot shortcutting the whole issue of burning the coffee since the coffee is removed from the moka pot as soon as it brews? Traditionally the coffee gathers in the upper chamber of the moka pot and continues heating up. I always thought that was what caused it to burn or "overcook".
You should check out the Bialetti Mini Express. It's similar to the Gemini, but has a plastic handle on the spout. Comes with a pair of adorable shot cups. I don't use it anymore but it will be a part of my collection forever
I like Eva Solo's other brewer better - it's not a pour over, it's got a filter that fits in the mouth of a glass bottle. Put coffee and water in, insert filter, wait, and pour coffee out through the filter. Easiest coffee maker I've used so i grab it when I'm lazy.
Oh, I love the look of the design of that moka pot, for sure! I had no idea the MoMA had a curated store, and I love it! Thank you for sharing. I will definitely be using it to find cute and aesthetic pieces to finish my home in the future. ❤
That Mika pot reminds me of something from REI in the 90s or 2000s. They called them “camping espresso makers.” Even though it wasn’t technically espresso.
The pour over waiting drove my friend and his wife crazy, they said by the time you were done making it it wasn't hot anymore. So I bought them a French press and they love it.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure that the "not a tamp" part of the moka pot is for doing half portions (at least that's how it works for mine)
I hang my head in shame when I say that I use Dunkin' donuts dark roast in my moka pot. There, I said it out loud so now I don't need to be ashamed anymore! :-)
I want that square kettle in the MoMA collection too, but this pour over looks more like its meant to be a cold-brewer, hence the cork top so you can refrigerate any leftover.
The Gemini express is a version of the classic Italian cafe maker. There is a version like that for a cup or two, so I don’t get that brand , which isn’t the original brand. In Spain we use that traditional coffee maker and it’s great
The second one looks super good! .. i did have a moka pot explode hot coffee grounds all over me and my kitchen last year so i am not in a rush to get one BUT
Please never change your presenting style Morgan. Your enthusiasm is infections! I really love that little Moka pot - looks like it’d work better on a gas hob rather than an electric one :)
The one Morgan shows she has its a wood handle one could be an option also :) PS: Bialetti also has option like that one, that doesn't have the top part with the handle. Mentioning this because personally think both options are cuter than this Gemini one :)
I spent $29 on my pink moka pot and I love it! The only thing easier might be pour over. I belong to scent box and I love it. :-). Just an FYI in fleur-de-lis the S on the end is not pronounced it is said like Lee. ;-)
I just love watching people talk anything about coffee but she makes it so much more entertaining for me than already it is :) p.s. Am I seeing things or her saucer was actually chipped? Btw I love glassware in general but the carafe has such a poor design both in form(which is of course is a subjective matter) and functionality that I am perplexed about the price tag.
Morgan, I love your videos very talented you are! I would love to see a review on the Mr. Coffe Barista line. If not that's ok. Keep doing your awesome! FYI you got me into espresso again!
Did you just throw shade at my beloved Chemex?! No no no...just, no. (Looks at the actual brewer with its drips down the side from the morning's brewing)....ok, fine, you have a point. I still love it...and it looks hella better than the Eva IMHO
I suspect someone returned that specific product after using it. And Eva Solo products are normally packaged like that. I don't think there's any packaging missing. My wine glasses also came like that

Yeah... $100 for the pour over is definitely not worth it. I have a similar setup (granted, not as aesthetically pleasing) which I paid $30 for and I felt like that was a fair price. The Gemini is very cool and worth the price though! Thanks for the fun video!
There’s a certain point where price does not indicate “better quality” and this perfectly describes the $100 pour over that does not improve brewing experience or quality. A glass pitcher that’s heat tempered and preferred pour over apparatus can achieve the the same result for much cheaper. Though I wouldn’t be bothered too much if the Gemini moka pot was $100.
Morgan! I had a dream last night that I saw these brewers and started panicking because I didn't know how to use them since I haven't watched your video on them yet. I am now here to calm my nerves on the matter. 😅
I might be wrong since I know very little about this brewing world, but isn't the pour over even less safe since it isn't a double glass? Like, imagine if a kid or someone else picks it up while it is hot or if it's placed on a cold surface? It could easily break from the temperature shock. Idk, I wouldn't spend that much money on it I think.
That gemini Is just a 'designed' version of the Bialetti mini express although the Bialetti Is easier to target two cups as the spouts are at opposite sides and not close together. BTW I'm Italian and visit family in Italy every year and have done for the last 30 years and no one I know ever pre heats the water that they put in a moka pot. I don't know where this has come from but certainly not Italy.
Thanks for the video Morgan, I think the only value of these brewers would be for display purposes. Couldn’t see myself using either of them but they look good.
Are there any truly double wall glass pour over brewers in that capacity range? I have the Bodum double wall but that uses a plastic clamshell for the outer wall which acts more as a heat guard for burn protection and less for stopping the thermal loss.
Question! Isn't it the same for the "pour-over" as using a regular coffee maker? My question is because they are the same principle which is pouring hot water over the coffee grounds to extract the divine liquid xD

18:03 "it tastes like coffee" is my favorite part
Hey Morgan! Do you think you can do a video reviewing Cometeer Coffee? I keep seeing ads for it and intrigued if its actually good and would like to hear your opinion of it!
She did a video with them last year I believe.
@@JorgTheElder I think we can agree to disagree here. I like handles, you seem to not. that's ok, we both like coffee so there is common grounds XD
I’ve only ever seen your shorts, this is the first time I’ve heard your lovely voice! Thank you for your wonderful content!😊
Morgan you are the most attractive dork nerd ever and I'm so happy that I get to learn coffee things from you.
I’ve always put the moka pot basket in a short shot glass to hold it while I add coffee
The big cork is very cool. The way it sits in the glass carafe is quite cartoonish in a way that I would probably just sit and stare at.
Tip for the mocha pot and filling the ground coffee thingy use a shot glass or a shooter glass. Thats what i use keeps it standing up
Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure that the "not a tamp" part of the moka pot is for doing half portions (at least that's how it works for mine)
I hang my head in shame when I say that I use Dunkin' donuts dark roast in my moka pot. There, I said it out loud so now I don't need to be ashamed anymore! :-)
That mocha pot is adorable oh my goodness
That eva solo is very expensive at MoMa in Denmark you can get it for 60$
"I suppose you could share this with your enemy" 😂
The stove top angle has an Alton Brown feel. Love it.
The Gemini moka pot is honestly something I might get because I have always been worried about the plastic handles melting off.
The one Morgan shows she has its a wood handle one could be an option also :)
PS: Bialetti also has option like that one, that doesn't have the top part with the handle. Mentioning this because personally think both options are cuter than this Gemini one :)
I spent $29 on my pink moka pot and I love it! The only thing easier might be pour over. I belong to scent box and I love it. :-). Just an FYI in fleur-de-lis the S on the end is not pronounced it is said like Lee. ;-)
I just love watching people talk anything about coffee but she makes it so much more entertaining for me than already it is :)
p.s. Am I seeing things or her saucer was actually chipped? Btw I love glassware in general but the carafe has such a poor design both in form(which is of course is a subjective matter) and functionality that I am perplexed about the price tag.
16:45 please do this in every video for no particular reason. My favorite segment "hi, here is detailed information, up close"
That metal filter looks like it's a cutting hazard. Is it as sharp as it looks?
That slide and “hello there!” makes my day lol
Morgan,
I love your videos very talented you are! I would love to see a review on the Mr. Coffe Barista line. If not that's ok. Keep doing your awesome! FYI you got me into espresso again!
aah i love ur vids, ive first seen u on tiktok,
which inspired me to literally buy an espresso machine, and ive been obsessed with it ever since
Did you just throw shade at my beloved Chemex?! No no no...just, no. (Looks at the actual brewer with its drips down the side from the morning's brewing)....ok, fine, you have a point.
I still love it...and it looks hella better than the Eva IMHO
Thumbs up for using fancy as a verb. I fancy that.
I suspect someone returned that specific product after using it.
And Eva Solo products are normally packaged like that. I don't think there's any packaging missing. My wine glasses also came like that
I love mythical and especially mythical kitchen. Will have to check the podcast out!
9:23 Cat playing in the reflection!
9:41 - "That worked out very nicely. I don't need any more dripping today... I've done enough on my own."
don't laugh don't laugh Morgan is very nice how dare I even oh don't laugh I'm an adult don'tlaughdon'tlaugh oh no
Hey Morgan, have you looked into the Osma machine? It looks pretty interesting for cold brews.
This is the first time I've heard your voice and it's very soothing
Morgan! I had a dream last night that I saw these brewers and started panicking because I didn't know how to use them since I haven't watched your video on them yet. I am now here to calm my nerves on the matter. 😅
I enjoy the Waiting For Pour over To Finish dance
I might be wrong since I know very little about this brewing world, but isn't the pour over even less safe since it isn't a double glass? Like, imagine if a kid or someone else picks it up while it is hot or if it's placed on a cold surface? It could easily break from the temperature shock. Idk, I wouldn't spend that much money on it I think.
First dripper definitely could've been a returned unit
That gemini Is just a 'designed' version of the Bialetti mini express although the Bialetti Is easier to target two cups as the spouts are at opposite sides and not close together.
BTW I'm Italian and visit family in Italy every year and have done for the last 30 years and no one I know ever pre heats the water that they put in a moka pot. I don't know where this has come from but certainly not Italy.
my brain decided that the pour over brewer looks like a watering can for coffee and now I can't unsee that
If MoMA wanted to make a cool item, they should make a beautiful/functional moka filter holder so that it’s easier to fill.
Hey Morgan! I'm Morgan too. I really love your videos and lovvvveeee your hair :)
The extra filter for the moka pot looks like it could be used as a stand for the chamber, if the handle is the correct size.
If he uploaded the podcasts to youtube, I would definitely give a listen. As it is, I don't feel comfortable supporting spotify, even so little as listening to the podcast.
I'm just curious. Doesn't everyone normally wash any new dishes/kitchen tools/etc before use? Even if it wasn't icky, I'd still have washed it first.
everyone should own a bottle brush for things like this
