Absolute Banger and what a generation to be bought up in. No camera phones, no pressure, out every weekend, care free, everyone up for a laugh and come back from the pub with change out of a £20 note. Feel sorry for the generations now that won’t experience that!

So true. Tech was simpler then. It was the era of dial up internet on Windows 98 (XP was still very new) or a PowerPC Mac. The internet back then felt more 'real' and less monetised and corporate. You would have to spend a lot of time exploring or 'surfing' the web and people had their own personal websites (anyone remember Geocities and Angelfire), now most online activity is confined to social media and a small selection of websites/apps and now we have Generative AI. The likes of ChatGPT are already causing problems. I work in a university and many students have been caught using AI for assignments
There was a lot more optimism and hope in the early 2000s and the British economy was thriving. Tony Blair was a good PM until he started the Iraq War. In technology Windows XP was new and there was a lot of hype surrounding it. It was the 'bridge' between classic and modern Windows and the true start of the digital age. Smartphones and tablets existed but were mainly aimed at the business market. I had a Palm Pilot though 🤣 and I used to play Bejeweled on it. Apple had just released the iPod and the 'lampshade' iMac G4. AI was the stuff of science fiction
I hated this stuff at the time. I think it's really quite good listening to it today. I'm not sure why this song came into my head. It's better than I remember.
This band was the underdog. I was rooting for them.I liked what they represented. To not give up and second chance. When this song came out I remember feeling young and full of promise. Before you know it, you are are old. How time flies.
😂😂😂😂 i recently discovered this song/group and this is my first time seeing this video and I'm weak cause i was dancing the same way as them when i heard it.😅 Need this in HD
Saw these last night in Cardiff along with bonnie Tyler, s club 7 & bananarama, I really thought these were amazing live! Got the crowd going & Michelle was celebrating her 40th birthday & their manager came on stage to give her a cake. Genuinely looked like they were all friends unlike a lot of fake bands who don’t get on. 😊
@@jack9107 So do I. I'm wondering will life ever get back to what it was? This virus has ruined so many things. I know there was the SARS outbreak in 2002-2004 but that didn't spread much outside Asia. On thing I do miss from the early 2000s is the tech. Windows 98 and XP were way better than the mess that is Windows 10
@@jack9107 all they keep saying on the news is that social distancing in some form could go on for a year! I hope that won't be the case. ah man i forgot about this song. i used to like it when it was out. i liked the garagey + guitars which artful dodger pioneered and everyone else picked up on around 2001/2/3
I miss the days of music like this. No gimmicks, no twerking or any of that nonsense, just bloody good music. This song still sounds great now even though it's been around as long as Windows XP :-)
These guys were the so-called 'rejects' from the talent show, the ones who won it formed the long defunct Hear'Say. They met on Popstars UK but they decided to form a group on their own accord and they did write or co-write several songs on each album. I was a fan and I've got the CDs with the writing credits listed. The name Liberty was chosen to reflect the freedom they had away from the TV show, but they added the X after a lawsuit (Sutherland v V2 Music [2002]).
Well they are manufactured in that they met on a TV talent show but they were signed to an independent label (Richard Branson's one IIRC) and had some creative control. Like I said, I used to be a fan so I know about the backstory of the group and everything. I still have my copies of their CDs.
Yes but the talent show didn't put LX together as a group, they were not chosen by the judges. They were the five that didn't make it into Hear'Say. It was just the way the Popstars format worked. It wasn't like X Factor where they have solo singers and groups auditioning or they put together some solo singers to form a group like 1D and Fifth Harmony (btw I like 5H, 7/27 was one of my favourite albums of 2016). The 'rejects' (as the papers called them at the time - this was pre-Twitter) decided to form a group on their own accord some weeks after the show. Thinking It Over still sounds good today. Liberty X had some good pop songs and some of them don't sound too dated now.
I remember the band had to go court because of there already being a band in America called Liberty. So that's why they changed to Liberty X and Just A Little Bit and this song is my favourite from them.
They began recording their Debut Album mid-2001. This music video must’ve been recorded not long after that, as you can see the WTC towers in the distance. This single was released post-9/11 on the 24th September 2001. Very interesting. Definitely has the feel of that era. Reminds me of the early years of my childhood. Better days.
Love this song. After watching The Big Reunion I never knew Michelle felt the way she did. When I was younger she was the one in Liberty X I felt was the most attractive and wanted to look like. The fact that she was taking slimming pills like M and Ms makes it more sad.
ahh, i like it a lot. It's very simple and lets the singer-performers 'perform' the song. And they seem to have good, easy rapport. =) I prefer that to the (often totally) effects-driven videoclips of today...

Younger generations look at me funny these days when I say we took digital cameras with us on nights out back then 😂
Ahhh the early 2000's! The memories come flooding back!
Such an under rated song. The vocals are really beautiful on this and the chemistry the group had was great.
It got to number 5 in the UK and number 2 on the UK indie charts. Seemed to do well to me.
When garage invaded summer in the early noughties, its a great track, wideboys on it, and great vocals it could never fail!
This song was so original, def one of their best even though it's their first. SO underated!!
You’re joking, it’s like every other garage track that was out at this time.
I hated this stuff at the time. I think it's really quite good listening to it today. I'm not sure why this song came into my head. It's better than I remember.
Just came in my head after a good 15 years. Quality tune!

I’d love to make a song with this now. Takes me back to my early 20’s. Those were some great days.
I'll go with you
One of my favourite songs from the early 00s...sad to see the former Twin Towers, RIP to those who perished.
Coming up to it's 20th Anniversary of this track, it's brilliant, Listed in my cd collection as "Liberty" before the X came in
... as the rap clearly stated. No 'X' at this stage - there was one at the time of their biggie.

I had such a massive crush on Jessica..I still do 😂❤

2020 to 2021 brough it bk
Any 2020 Liberty X listeners?😍

Such a beautiful showcase for every member of the group, the vocals are just so gorgeous. Wonderful x x x x x
I ALWAYS COME BACK TO THIS SONG! this WAS AND ALWAYS WILL BE MY JAMM!
Still one of the greatest songs of the 21st century by one of the world's greatest pop bands ever. 😍
Originally released 24/09/01, 20 years on and I'm still loving it 😍🥰👍
Saw them live back in the day on a free stage in Cambridge! God the memories I had the album
These were my faves from this era....cracking harmonies
Absolutely love this song 😍😍😍❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🙌
I was watching the hit list when a liberty x track came on and soon as i heard of their name this was the track that came to mind
The male vocals on this track are incredible
Awesome these guys were. Proper garage feel to this tune!
I had just seen this song mentioned on the Big Reunion- I forgot all about it! I can remember taping this off the Top 40 back in 2001!
2020 and still listening ukgarage👌🏽
Love this song 👌 reminds me of my college days
i love how Liberty X had more success than Hear'say and Liberty X was made up of the singers who didn't get into Hear'say do you remember?!
+time4anewme Yes I do! Liberty X were much better than hear'say
.
@@suzieshackles Excuse me but Hear'say were fantastic too.
Yes like it was yesterday
Yes and I'm not surprised as Hearsay sucked in comparison to Libertyx.
Defo has an old school vibe. still love it now
i love uk garage, and loved those luxury interior and filter of 00's music videos.
and why is this not on spotify?
Liberty x were an amazing group love this song ❤❤❤❤
This tunes much better than the over-rated Just A Little, by far Liberty X's best tune.
I love Libertyx now and forever x
Such a banger, this come up in my suggestions from listening garage music
This is still such a tune
Love all their songs
I miss liberty X
it was produced by wideboys so it definitely has a garage feel to it
This video is the best video ever that Liberty x did ??😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄
