      I never seen a case in the local news where human error, negligence, didn't play a role. Freak accidents is always less than .01 %. No less common than slip and fall on a banana peel, or a shark bite. Responsible pet ownership always plays a role. From the way your dogs behave, around who, keeping kids safe, and doors, fences, closed, damage repair. I have 10 dogs, and 5 cats, in a 3 acre property. I rescue, any time an animal shows aggression, injury tendencies, I adopt them out. Just because like them to roam free, and enjoy themselves. The area is too large impossible to control what if. In the other hand, a tenant hid a violent ram from us, that he adopted from days old. He loved this animal, but couldn't handle it any longer. Broke a fence, attacked me. He was evicted voluntarily because he put everyone in danger, and is completely unacceptable.

      A few recent dog attacks in Australia where a person has been mauled have occurred in the family home, by the family pit bull that everyone swears were the sweetest dogs. I don't know the complete backgrounds of the dogs or owners, but inbred instincts do come out in some dogs and pit bulls were originally bred and taught to fight and kill other dogs. I am sure you are a responsible pit bull owner, but there is one reason I believe why pit bulls should be banned or owned by only responsible people and is that so many are owned by delusional people like the defendant. By the same token, that guy shouldn't be allowed to own anything bigger than a goldfish.

All because the defendant is grossly irresponsible. And now that poor dog is at the animal shelter, probably marked as a dangerous animal, it will probably never be adopted, and will likely be put down. Pit bull owners will go to great lengths to defend their dogs, but the facts speak for themselves. The propensity for violence has been bred into the dog. I don't care how lovingly they were raised. Any dog can bite for whatever reason. It's their ferocity and the bite strength that does maximum damage to it's victims. They have a bad rep for a reason. That's why many communities ban them and most homeowner's insurance companies will drop you or refuse to insure you if you have a pit bull.

    • @Xterraforce
      @Xterraforce Год назад +40

      I had a pit bull that was by far the least aggressive dog I've ever owned. My nephew had one that was always nice then one day out of the blue it attacked me as I was getting out of my truck. Even with mine being so easy going I was always vigilant because I know what the breed is capable of. The problem is exactly what you pointed out. All dogs may bite at some point and even if a pit bull isn't more likely to bite, it's jaw strength and the way they bite will make it much worse if it does. So many pit bull owners treat them like any other dog simply based on the fact they haven't shown aggression in the past. That's unacceptable and a big part of their bad reputation. I would have no problem owning another one but like every pit bull owner should, I would control it at all times as if it were a deadly aggressive dog ready to attack at any time. It can be a sweet family pet inside the home but it should never be handled in a manner in which it can attack outside of the home. They need a good strong leash, collar and muzzle in public and the person handling them must have the physical and mental ability to keep them under control and never get distracted. Personally I find chihuahuas and other small breeds to be far more aggressive on average but fortunately they lack the size and strength to be very dangerous.

    • @JamesPerk-h3n
      @JamesPerk-h3n Год назад +35

      @@Xterraforce Your last statement is very true. Some smaller dogs seem more aggressive, but are infinitely less likely to do significant damage. Pit bulls, Rottweilers, Dobermans and other breeds are capable of inflicting extreme damage or even death. Most owners want to treat them like Golden Retrievers. Judge Judy always kept news articles on her bench with stories about families with pit bulls that were never aggressive, until one day they just went off and mauled and/or killed children who were just playing and not even interacting with the dog.

    • @wvrjl
      @wvrjl Год назад +8

      I knew a Pitbull that was very friendly. I wouldn't have even known she was a pitbull because her ears and tail weren't docked. So it absolutely DOES matter how they're treated. Too many people who are neglectful or abusive get pitbulls.
      However, their bite capacity is extremely strong so you have to be careful. I don't back banning any dog, but because of what they can become, you need to be careful and, especially if the dog had already been aggressive, there needs to be set rules specifically for known aggressive dogs where the owners punishment is more severe.

    • @BobBlumenfeld
      @BobBlumenfeld Год назад +17

      My thoughts exactly. And I'll add that some pit bull (and some other breeds as well) owners choose the pit, consciously or unconsciously, for that reputation, out of fear of and/or the desire to intimidate other humans. Also reflected in the names they give their dogs.

    I have experience w pitbulls and they are the sweetest when they know you, but if they don't, watch out! They naturally go into attack mode w small dogs. When my Yorkiepoo was a puppy, he was so small he could get out of the gate (fit btwn the bars). The pitbull boxer mix across the street tried to kill him everytime. He would literally jump the fence to try to get Bobby. We put up chicken wire to keep him in and the pitbull out. The same pitbull used to attack me everyday walking home from school. When he snapped at my leg and put a hole in my jeans, my Dad put the fear of God into the dog and owner 😂

  • @kittyfan

    most Pit Bulls could jump a 4 ft fence. Aggression is genetic. If you have an aggressive dog, he'll have that tendency forever.....training aggression out of an aggressive dog is like training red hair out of a person.

    I have a pit bull... she is goofy and plays with frogs, cats etc never hurt one but i wouldn't trust that and turn her loose on her own. She's playful but doesn't know her own strength. It's not the dogs fault. You have to take precautions because they can be unpredictable.

    The poor little doggie, was probably so terrified when the pitbull was attacking her. AND also the poor pitbull, it breaks my heart. He did what comes naturally to him. It's the POS Defendan't fault, for not securing the dogs in his yard. And now that pitbull is wondering where his people are, why he is where he is. UGH!!!!!

    Pitbulls have neurological problems you can give them the best training by the best dog trainers with all the best equipment, but a pit will still be a pit. I owned 2 German sheppards. I had 6 foot fences containing the dogs in the large back yard, all it took was one day my Sheppard chased a squirl and jumped the fence to get that squirl. We ended up putting 3 feet of concrete below the fence so they couldn't dig out and we put electric fencing on top of the fence to make sure they couldn't jump the fence or dig a hole under the fence because I want to make sure my dogs can't get out and get hurt by accident.
