Dear Emma, it's really amazing to watch this transformation. What an incredible work you both did! What impresses and inspires me most about your videos is how many of the tasks you actually do yourself. By no means do I want to put Simon's work in the background since I know you both work really hard and as a team. But for me it is so motivating to see that you are involved in all the work in an equal way. Even though I didn't grow up in a sexist environment (thankfully), I had internalised it through general social mindsets that it "takes" men to do all the crafts. For many years it was unconsciously taken for granted by myself that I would call a male friend to connect a light bulb or drill a plug into the wall. Even if this friend had to read up on how to do it himself. Your videos have made me think a lot about this disproportion and my insecurity regarding handicraft work and I am really motivated to acquire as much knowledge as possible so that I get out of this self created "supposed dependency" on help by a man. And yes, I know that there are limits with my 47 kilo weight and untrained arms and I will thankfully call my male friends for help, haha! 😬 Anyway, please excuse this feminist outburst, but I wanted to tell you that your videos are inspiring and motivating in so many (maybe even unexpected) ways!
I’m sure you are not alone in those thoughts, it takes time to rid ourselves of the things we are taught/conditioned into thinking but the fact that you have realised you are capable is amazing 🙌🏼 Get stuck in and enjoy it 😘❤️

When sanding although not required it is probably in the best interest of your eyes to be wearing safety goggles Love the look and the editing on the video was very clean and not jarring between days it was great. Once again love the room.

Oh absolutely. New windows were my sticking point. They almost didn’t happen because Simon wasn’t fussed about the windows “you just cover them with blinds” 😭 but fortunately the battle was won due to the lack of efficiency of the old ones. He loves the new windows now though 😏
@@EmmaHill in this case Simon was wrong - windows are very architectural and make a huge difference to the aesthetic of a room. Good that the old ones were rubbish!
This looks great! What you kindly consider doing a video on home renovation planning and process, i.e., how you translated your inspirations to the actual room? For example, did you hire a designer or use an online program?
We don’t use a professional designer, the designer I suppose is me, although I’m no professional, I just know what look I want to achieve and Simon trusts my vision. I don’t use any online programmes either I’m afraid. I just trust myself and go for it. Obviously once I find a piece of furniture we measure it to see if it would fit before buying, I get samples if samples are available for fabrics, wood, flooring etc and we test paint before painting although now I’ve found Joanna I rarely use anything else. Other than that I don’t really know what else I can tell you, it’s all just in my head 🙊
