  • Doctors at Memorial Healthcare System are now fighting the flu with technology called ECMO.
The technology has traditionally been used for cardiac patients, but it can now also be used to fight severe flu.

This is a winning machine in ICU against Covid 19

@IntegralFrollo how about modifying ECMO technology to create an artificial immune system?
This is how it works, - An ECMO machine is made where withdrawn blood is circulated in a continuous closed loop outside of the Human body.
The ECMO machine will oxygenate and get rid of CO2.
Meanwhile a separate team uses stem cell technology to create white blood cells. Those cells alongside with COVID antigens are injected into the closed ECMO circulatory system. The white blood cells will create antibodies against the virus.
The antibody level is monitored and if the antibody level is satisfactory, the ECMO blood is then injected back into the host.
Hopefully this will give the immune system a boost.
Meaning a vaccine can have a lower acceptable safety standard as the person already has antibodies. This two pronged approach could mean faster approval of a vaccine.
      What do you think?

@IntegralFrollo yes I think Stem cell technology combined and in conjunction with CRISPR gene editing technology could work. The big issue is that, unlike current available vaccines for other diseases, ramping this treatment up to a level so that it can be mass produced and given to large amounts of people is going to be difficult.
There is a supply chain and logistics issue.

I believe ECMO procedure will save lives for those affected by Covid-19! My brother contracted the virus and was put on ventilator and ECMO after they found out he had a blood clot on his lungs. He’s out of ICU now and showing steady progress. So grateful and blessed! God is great! 🦋🙏🌈💖

This is now being used in rare COVID-19 cases too.
