Already I have a problem with this review. If the game is an HD remake, from years ago, why would you compare it with games that came after it? It's just a remake, not a reboot.
***** Liberation is not a full AC game... it was never meant to be. You cannot just transfer a mobile game (Vita) to a console and expect it to be amazing. It's like comparing Angry Birds on mobile... to Angry Birds on consoles. Who would honestly pay $30 more for a game that is 99 cents? Of course AC3 is way better than this, but for a handheld title it is pretty good. Compared to Black Flag... this game is so basic and washed down.
I have to disagree, as a shorter and far cheaper AC game, it does it's job fairly well. While it lacks the polish of a big budget AC, as a smaller scaled version it's pretty fun
Awful review. They complain about the persona system on this review but on the vita review it was a positive. The original reviewer of the vita review should have reviewed this.
Ouch. Well I *loved* Assassin's Creed: Liberation HD, from the protagonist to the environments to the parkour (It is the only AC game you can actually run on the rooftops without being harassed by guards in, from AC1 to AC4).
Please read all of this if you want to debate with me or are thinking about getting the game. I know I will sound like a fanboy, but this has to be said. This guy is treating this game as it should have been a sequel to the amazing black flag, like it should have gone beyond the scope of Assassins Creed. What he keeps forgetting is that ITS A BLOODY REMAKE. Its not supposed to do anything different except fix the bugs and improve the visuals which this game did. I will admit, the vita version was bad. But this game has improved on it in so many ways. The vita version had hundreds of bugs and glitches from broken trophies to even one broken mission I encountered. In this game, they were no where to found. The ONLY glitch that they hadnt taken out(which really annoys me for some reason) is the butter knife glitch where aveline looks like shes holding a butterknife the wrong way when she does double counters with her machete. Everything else is fine. While the story has plot holes, their mission wasnt to add more to the main story! And they even helped out the player by reminding them what was going on from time to time in an un-interruptive way. The climbing in this game has nothing wrong with it either, I dont know what the reviewer is talking about. And in tailing missions, there are literally 2-3. And you dont get detected right away, they give you a good amount of time (at least 20 seconds) to hide. Im starting to question if he even played the game. Either he didn't, or he just plays so badly that he has to blame the game itself for his inability to play properly. Boring missions, eh? Even reviewers that gave this game a mediocre review agreed that the missions in the bayou were great ! He also criticized the combat but Aveline has the same opponents that need strategy to defeat as AC3 and AC4. It has all new amazing sword moves as well, only the machete moves are copied from connor. This game has also brought back stealth, which is the strength of the AC series, and this reviewer sounds like he just wants to fight everyone and anyone. He is so ignorant. The slave and lady personas have also been improved as they have new mechanics that help you blend in plain sight. I agree when he said that they should have been used as different tools to liberate slaves (lady pays for their release, slave sneaks in and releases them, assassin fights slavers etc..) but there are moments in the game when you do this! The checkpoints are also spread out in a moderate way as well. They aren't great, but they definitely aren't horrible (unless you aren't good at the game altogether which I'm almost positive this guy isnt.). Again, either this guy didn't even play the game, or he is just plain bad at it. All in all, I completely disagree with 95% of what this reviewer had to say. I honestly think it deserves at least an 8.5 for: +Amazing protagonist +improved combat +Improved graphics +Improved mechanics for the personas +improved tailing +A variety of new soldiers that provide a good challenge when fighting +Sound is VERY much improved -no new ways to use personas to liberate slaves besides hiding in plain sight -some boring side missions -Graphics aren't up to par with AC4 (they are with AC3 though, I dont know what hes talking about) -plot holes -Some bad voice acting I strongly recommend you get this game. This reviewer obviously doesn't know what he talking about. It sound like he also didnt want to even give it a chance since he said it had very little going for it. And while I agree that remakes are basically for cash, I still think this game will be worth your while. I loved this game and it saddens me to see that IGN is very inconsistent with their reviews. The next entry should be about Aveline. No I'm not a fanboy, I'm just disappointed that I didn't get to see some aspects of her life and I want to know more about them. Plus, no matter what you guys say, she is a pretty interesting character.
I like this game, it fully brought out what an assassin could truly do. Blend in with others, become a proper lady who blend in the common crowd, a slave who blends in with work places, an assassin who can freely run and kill whoever she needs to. The thugs you can just shrug off, and the point of the lady persona is to deceive and look innocent, it takes away the free run because I'm pretty sure wearing that dress and parkouring are impossible, even though you could parkour in heels. The slave persona is just to deceive and infiltrate, allowing you to blend in with a slave crowd and get into places you shouldn't be in, the assassin persona is just your weapons persona that you could use to get in and out when needed. There are some problems with the game but nonetheless it has more of a unique concept that I wished more AC games used.

I personally enjoyed the game, but it could of been longer, like (spoiler alert) when she goes north to Connor they could of made her have an adventure along the way, i mean one Memory is 1 sequence long!!! But I think Avelline (cant spell) is one of my favorite assassins, did like the story, up until, the writers thought, lets have half the main characters die off (Agate, The Stepmother, Her Father). Plus, they never say what happens to Ellise (cant spell,), and her friend (forgot name), or how she dies. The Citizen E missions were interesting to say the least, just wish they gave her a bigger world, better main storyline, and a Title that didnt put her as acIII:liberation (what I mean is get rid off the 3, wish they treated it as a real game, and not aa big seperate add-on).
Such a bad and baised review. People seem to forget that this game was meant to be for the PSP, in the first place. THIS IS A PORT GAME. It's only meant for die hard hardcore fans. Ign could had better suggest to play this game on a PSP instead of talking nonesense aubout gfx issues and so on. This is a low quality review by a shortsighted reviewer. And no... I am not a liberty fan myself.
its a review, its what he thought of the game, he's not going to say he thought it was good if he thought it wasn't this game is obviously a HUGE step back, ik its meant for psp but he was reviewing the HD version, console. this game looks like trash
That sounds awesome, but doesn't work at all into what makes assassins creed assassins creed. I'm supposed to be reliving a predetermined life of a predetermined person. The actions of the person and the appearance chosen by the person were set years ago. U stray away from what really happened and u risk desyctonization*.
The original version of this game came out in October 2012, which is just over a year ago, it's not two years old :) . (I know that makes it 15 months old, but with it barely being 2014, when you say something is two years old, people would be thinking you ment 2011 - even that feels like yesterday :) .)
only played the demo i wouldn't know but i ironically enjoyed the bad points graphically to me its pretty good being a port combat being the same as ac3 with some things i liked added in, the mark to kill and whip which is similar to the rope dart but also allows u to swing the demo even with one mission so much fun doing again cause of the persona system each plays differently, assassin can go more toe to toe where the slave one blends in waiting for the chance to strike then leaves no one the wiser just another slave and the lady is obviously one u don't directly go into combat using the darts and hidden blade for covert kills that's what i liked about that one, its less combat savvy making u think more on how to approach a situation than all in attack, she can also bribe in short i hope more ac to the change outfits idea cause they add that variety unity tried to add with different ways to assassinate a target
I thought the review got off on a bad start with the "shirt analogy." But then he went into the game bugs, game design, voice acting, and writing. I completely understood where the reviewer was coming from. This is why I am cautious about picking up a title that has been ported from a handheld. When the design takes a backseat because of a bad port job, perhaps it would be better to play this game on a heldheld and leave it at that. Good review.
This game is awesome! I compare it to AC3, and I just love the character much more in this one, the story is... meh, but it's a ver unique seting and a nicer tone than AC3's story...
BTW I should add that I really love the AC series, despite it's quirks. I'm just tired of the developers not listening to criticism and pushing for more evolution in gameplay aspects. Especially when you see a game like Splinter Cell Blacklist, which has amazing gameplay mechanics, graphics, AND plenty of story and frills (so many customizable items), it's very hard to justify using such outdated stealth mechanics and control schemes like the ones used for all the recent AC games.
Do us all a favor and stfu... This franchise is getting more and more brilliant. I bet you haven't played AC 4... the only thing the series need is a good new story! --'
I highly disagree with this review. I'm not saying the game was flawless, but it was a great contender in terms of portable console gaming, and I found the plot interesting. You can't compare a remastered version of a Vita game to next gen console games. It just doesn't make any sense.
What the hell is wrong with IGN? they gave a 7,2 grade for the ps vita version and now that has better graphics it has only a 5,2? Of course it´s not perfect, but adding a female character, the different costumes and some hours of entertaiment after the AC 3 (Which actually wasn´t that good) was a good idea. No regrets on having spent 15 euros. P.D:Please give cod games better marks, they totally deserve more than bf4 (irony)
I dont like AC games but this on is just different that is why i liked it so much is the only AC game that i got really far even considering buying it for ps3 because i dont have vita anymore, my cousin loves them so i get to play every single one of them, AC revelations being the worst. i just simply dont like the future i just wish they would not show it and just stay medieval type game XD
IGN: Waaahhhhhh, why isn't this game a remake rather than an HD version of a PS Vita game? The only negative I give AC: Liberation is that if they intended to make an HD version later, why bother making it for the PS Vita in the first place? They could have done a lot more with this game if they just made it for consoles initially. We finally get to play as a female Assassin and they go and half-ass it. Boggles the mind.
Honestly after playing ac 3, this feels like a copypasta. And the story is all over the place, with about 30 words being said before alevine became an assassin
erh.. the PC version is nice and the graphics look superior .. and IGN is the last place i would go to reviews after their crap review of watchdogs..hell, angry joe is better
Because apparently being ported to higher up system means the game needs to be entirely remade to fit the standards of that system. IGN at it's best here folks.
I think it's a bit unfair to expect a full HD next gen graphic game out of a portable console game. Less than two years is not enough time to make a good next gen graphic game. Besides, they did sell it as HD edition, not: Fully fixed, re-rendered next gen game. But oh well. They say Aveline's story is cool.
This game is $20 ps vita remake did you expect them to put the time and effort into and only sell it for $20, for assassins creed fans, it's worth the money
I hope for ACV they make Haytham the main character. (SPOILER ALERT!) It'll be interesting how he became a Templar when he was raised by an assassin father.
Sadly I didn't expect this game to be good. Ubisoft should have used the same engine from AC4. From a gameplay standpoint, AC4 is a really beautiful-looking version of AC3; same combat system, same stealth mechanics, etc.. Therefore, a game originally designed for the Vita (Liberation HD) and rendered to HD is likely going to disappoint. They could've done a lot better by releasing it as a DLC for AC4. Hopefully UniSoft ditches this tired combat and stealth system if they do make another AC game.
This game is an abomination. 5 is a generous score for this piece of shit game. The glitches are everywhere, the story is absolutely terrible, and the frame rate (at least on the PS3) is messy as hell. The controls are awful, Aveline goes everywhere except I want her to go. There are too many collectables so it would look like the game has length in it, but they're glitched so don't count on 100% in this game. I regret buying this so called Assassin's Creed game,, even for the 5 dollars it has costed me. Felt like a chore to sit through this absolutely horrendous game.
+TheUltimateRom I have played the whole franchise and ac liberation hd has the least bugs of all. And what the hell are you talking about controls, they're the same as the other ac games. This game is not that bad, ok there are better ac games, but there are as sure as hell worse ones.
Mine came with asphalt injection lol (got mine on release day. When it had next to no games lol. Think I also got rayman with it. I remember the day psone classics was patched into the vita store. I was in final fantasy heaven haha
Haha, nice. I was just living off the PS+ games - though the selection was great, so I never really had to buy anything. That was until P4:G came out in the US, made an US account just so I could get that early. :D
I like how for there verdict they use Ezio's Family to play in the background. Well might as well salvage up something and use the theme of the best Assassin in the AC franchise.
Now I agree this wasn't a great game, bit don't compare it to a later title hailed as one of the best ever. Also, as an experienced AC player it took me about 6 hrs to finish the campaogn with most time waste on swimming. The game does deserve a bit higher tho, especially compared to other games before amd after, ot wasn't terrible. More like a 5.8 to a 6.1
I am replaying this game for 4th time but this time I am playing remastered version but I gotta say I love this game. It is way better than odyssey and origins. At least this game makes you feel and plays like an assassin creed game.
I thought this game was okay on Vita not good enough to warrant me buying it again tho and yeah the voice acting is pretty terrible. Anyway why did Ezio's family from AC2 play at the end? Is it in the HD version or something?
Just tried to play this game totally disgusted just at the start although I wasn’t expecting much anyways but they didn’t even try it has a interesting concept and the gameplay is alright except I felt like I was having my hand held and I hate that
A fair review. I keep giving this game a chance, and although sometimes in places it has me really enjoying it, overall the bugs, terrible voice acting and the uninteresting story make this game leagues below the rest. Makes me worry for the upcoming AC Rogue, as they are made by the same company.
But this game isn't bad.. and its not associated with the other main entries into the franchise. So its not a cliché assassins creed game considering its pulling away from the main entries in the series by actually bringing back stealth.
So why is it called Assassins Creed. It is expected to meet the demands of its fans and it shouldn't just carry its weight it should live up to its name. A game series such as this should be worked on extensively not just rushed out the door for prophet.
When the hell did I say its as good as the rest..? I think I said quite the opposite.. "it just wasn't as good.." And I know, it isn't an excuse. But the thing is, the game is better than mediocre. IGN is always inconsistent with their reviews.
There's no understandable story plot from the beginning. She's like a predecessor of Ezio with that scratch near lips but isn't fit as a part of that Auditore assassin blood.
You clearly went to search for staby-staby action only, the lady persona is for STEALTH action only, duh -__- and about that voice acting, you guys use the clip were it is indeed terrible, but it was the ONLY one. THE ONLY ONE. The game is what it is: buggy "because Ubisoft", fun because straight to the point (since it was a portable title) and interesting because Aveline, an exceptional Assassin that I had the most pleasure to play as (finally, never had or will have a Vita). I love action, but I can't understand why you don't enjoy tailing missions. At first people complains about not having stealth missions, then they complain because it isn't that staby-staby. Personally I hate the chase sequences where you loose your target really fast if you trip only once! Oh well...
Already I have a problem with this review. If the game is an HD remake, from years ago, why would you compare it with games that came after it? It's just a remake, not a reboot.
But even 3 was better than this and that came out at the same time.
What was acceptable back then, and on the Vita, isn't acceptable on the consoles and now.
yeah exactly.
***** Liberation is not a full AC game... it was never meant to be. You cannot just transfer a mobile game (Vita) to a console and expect it to be amazing. The Citizen E missions were interesting to say the least, just wish they gave her a bigger world, better main storyline, and a Title that didnt put her as acIII:liberation (what I mean is get rid off the 3, wish they treated it as a real game, and not aa big seperate add-on).
it was marked as three because it used the same combat system, but i agree.
Mad Man I thought it was because it was set in the same setting as 3. That is 18th century America.
its both, if you play both games u can see that they both use the same moves, with connor having more moves that aviln.
" You give up the river." Never gets old 😂😂😂😂
Such a bad and baised review. And no... I am not a liberty fan myself.
you expected something else from ign?
You mean Ps vita right?
bookiehillbilly excuse me SIR. :O
its a review, its what he thought of the game, he's not going to say he thought it was good if he thought it wasn't this game is obviously a HUGE step back, ik its meant for psp but he was reviewing the HD version, console. this game looks like trash
@@KayKozza its not all about graphics friend it about story and assassinating you enemies
You should be able to customize your character and choose things like male/female and hair and everything. That would be cool for a future AC project.
*i can't spell for shit
Jordan Jolivette Yeah true, true. The story is good by itself. Good point
Nice to see that I wasn't verbally assaulted for the sin of disagreeing. There are still some good people out there. :)
Jordan Jolivette Haha absolutely Jordan! And I agree with you 100% on that,
The original version of this game came out in October 2012, which is just over a year ago, it's not two years old :) .
(I know that makes it 15 months old, but with it barely being 2014, when you say something is two years old, people would be thinking you ment 2011 - even that feels like yesterday :) .)
2014 feels like yesterday to me🥲
only played the demo i wouldn't know but i ironically enjoyed the bad points
graphically to me its pretty good being a port combat being the same as ac3 with some things i liked added in, the mark to kill and whip which is similar to the rope dart but also allows u to swing
the demo even with one mission so much fun doing again cause of the persona system each plays differently, assassin can go more toe to toe where the slave one blends in waiting for the chance to strike then leaves no one the wiser just another slave and the lady is obviously one u don't directly go into combat using the darts and hidden blade for covert kills that's what i liked about that one, its less combat savvy making u think more on how to approach a situation than all in attack, she can also bribe
in short i hope more ac to the change outfits idea cause they add that variety unity tried to add with different ways to assassinate a target
I think they should make an Assassin's Creed game with a female as the protagonist to make up for this one. Giving them a second chance
This game is awesome! I compare it to AC3, and I just love the character much more in this one, the story is... meh, but it's a ver unique seting and a nicer tone than AC3's story...
Franchise fatigue. Ubisoft is too greedy milking this cash-cow.
1:52 *black kermit has entered the chat*
I play these games for the story, so I played it. I'm surprised he didn't mention the chain kill. I thought that was cool.
This Franchise needs to end. Tis all
Go fuck yourself
takeo masaki Hey fuck you too
Do us all a favor and stfu... This franchise is getting more and more brilliant. I bet you haven't played AC 4... the only thing the series need is a good new story! --'
Ricardo Pereira Do me a favor an don't comment on this old ass comment under this old ass video, about this tired ass mediocre franchise. Bye Felicia
This franchise is awesome
I highly disagree with this review. I'm not saying the game was flawless, but it was a great contender in terms of portable console gaming, and I found the plot interesting. You can't compare a remastered version of a Vita game to next gen console games. It just doesn't make any sense.
Too bad IGN, I'm downloading it now
Wait for me, I am right behind u bro
How did an remake get a lower score than the original? The remake makes the original better by a mile but still scored lower.
Straight up, I love Assassins Creed. But this review is accurate as hell. Compared to the other AC games this is lack luster and definitely not as fun
So somehow rereleasing the Vita game in HD decreases its rating?
For a handheld game it´s a bit overprized for Xbox360, but when I get it like 10€ I will buy it.
The game was so bad I couldn't finish the game on my vita and this coming from a big ac fan
I didn't know Jar Jar Binx was a Native American...
Yep...Black Flag is still the best in My Opinion.
Honestly after playing ac 3, this feels like a copypasta. And the story is all over the place, with about 30 words being said before alevine became an assassin
This was such a badly made review, I'm shocked you are a proffessional reviewer :O
erh.. the PC version is nice and the graphics look superior .. and IGN is the last place i would go to reviews after their crap review of watchdogs..hell, angry joe is better
ikr
***** Let's not forget their review of GTA 5, the game with apparently no flaws to speak of...
Im confused. Why would this get a worse score if the Vita version got a 7? Didnt they say this was the definitive version?
Because apparently being ported to higher up system means the game needs to be entirely remade to fit the standards of that system. IGN at it's best here folks.
Idk. Cus it was a shitty port
Woah! I'm playing this now on vita and I find low framerate to be the main issue, that aside it's a simple, but very fun game
This game is $20 ps vita remake did you expect them to put the time and effort into and only sell it for $20, for assassins creed fans, it's worth the money
Excellent review. Hated this game but got my 100% sync as I wasn't about to waste £15 for nothing.
1:49 I laughed so hard
EASY PLATINUM.
LOVE AC SERIES...loved this one.
I hope for ACV they make Haytham the main character. (SPOILER ALERT!) It'll be interesting how he became a Templar when he was raised by an assassin father.
That information is all told in the AC3 novel though. We already know what happened to Haytham.
We won't get AC5 until we get AC4: Pirate Brotherhood and AC4: Treasure Revelation
Weaksauceization
Lmao high five
Weaksauceization But we aren't getting them so your comment is invalid.
Weaksauceization
and in treasure revelation, who will be the grandpa that need to be revelated?
Sadly I didn't expect this game to be good. Ubisoft should have used the same engine from AC4. From a gameplay standpoint, AC4 is a really beautiful-looking version of AC3; same combat system, same stealth mechanics, etc.. Therefore, a game originally designed for the Vita (Liberation HD) and rendered to HD is likely going to disappoint. They could've done a lot better by releasing it as a DLC for AC4.
Hopefully UniSoft ditches this tired combat and stealth system if they do make another AC game.
Just got it for $6 Aus. My opinion is this review is pretty harsh, it's a remake from afew years ago not a knew game
+TheUltimateRom You do realize this game was originally meant for the Vita and Vita only. Only through fans did this game to the bigger consoles.
+TheUltimateRom Story is bad because no one wants to play black protagonists in AC.
+TheUltimateRom I have played the whole franchise and ac liberation hd has the least bugs of all. And what the hell are you talking about controls, they're the same as the other ac games. This game is not that bad, ok there are better ac games, but there are as sure as hell worse ones.
...
Turan X Nice stock Lurch DnB image bro. I like your style SJW
My Vita came bundled with this game a year ago, and I haven't even made it past the tutorial level. And I probably never will.
Are you in the EU too, I assumed you was from the US
Nah, I'm Czech. EU here. :)
Ahhhh right cool
More videogames where you can play as characters such as these please.
Like black?
This game is actually dope ign crazy
game is well optimized thats a sure thing
Ubisoft should make more new games and end AC
I don't know why everyone is criticising this game. I've played 1, 2, 4 and this one, and this one is my favourite, although I haven't played three.
I thought this game was okay on Vita not good enough to warrant me buying it again tho and yeah the voice acting is pretty terrible. Anyway why did Ezio's family from AC2 play at the end? Is it in the HD version or something?
Collection (Liber.HD,III,IV)...
interesting 🤔🤗. It's ok, made for PSVita - portable!
we understand 🤓
IGN ... didn't or didn't want to 🧐
Ubisoft never learns
Tear down the wall.
i think im going to wait to get the american collection.
You buy one AC game and you have all of them.
This is just another AC game with a different skin.
Yeah Liberation has one of those WTF endings
It's a port from the vita version, what was the reviewer expecting a
Total different game? this is how we start 2014 with another awful review .
The price is $20 and that is worth it. In my opinion I like this character a lot and might be my favorite assassin.
Just tried to play this game totally disgusted just at the start although I wasn’t expecting much anyways but they didn’t even try it has a interesting concept and the gameplay is alright except I felt like I was having my hand held and I hate that
Liberations vita-7.75 or sum like that
Liberations HD- 5.2
Wow wut
Lol, dude at 1:53 sounds like Jar Jar Binks.
A fair review. I keep giving this game a chance, and although sometimes in places it has me really enjoying it, overall the bugs, terrible voice acting and the uninteresting story make this game leagues below the rest. Makes me worry for the upcoming AC Rogue, as they are made by the same company.
Almost nothing good about the game and it still gets above average?
That's IGN...
5.2 is low but it should have fixed a lot of problems with the vita version
Finally someone calls out Assassin's Creed for what it really is.
This wasn't rushed out, it just wasn't as good because it was made as an on-the-go experience for the PS Vita
So your saying that this one is as good as the rest? Just because it was made for PS Vita doesn't excuse a game from being mediocre.
When the hell did I say its as good as the rest..? I think I said quite the opposite.. "it just wasn't as good.." And I know, it isn't an excuse. But the thing is, the game is better than mediocre. IGN is always inconsistent with their reviews.
whats the link between Liberation and 3?
this is less stutter than ac1,2,3....
The characters look so odd compared to the SD version.
There's no understandable story plot from the beginning. She's like a predecessor of Ezio with that scratch near lips but isn't fit as a part of that Auditore assassin blood.
is there a place were i could get the disc not the DLC for this game?for the ps3 i mean
I love the game especially when I'm on the go
I just got the game for the Nintendo Switch (it came as a bonus on my Assassin’s Creed 3 remastered)
this is hd version where is you logic
Oh well...
