Good homemade spade, but there is on small thing you might find, during winter when the ground is a lot harder and you try and put your spade in, be careful with pulling the spade back because it's narrower and therefore not as strong that way, it might bend across the breast of it below the v join of the shaft, I think that's why they have a vertical bend in it for strength and I think the length from the v join to the tip of the spade might be too long, hard to tell on the video, only saying this cos I saw someone had made these evolution spades before and started selling them to folk and that kept happening to his spades and everyone wanted their money back. Just thought I'd let you know, otherwise, great spade and well finished too, cheers for the video GL+HH
Hello im very impressed by the way you cut the spade into a fantastic detectorist tool i have a spade 7w 11L. Any suggestions on dimensions to creat something similliar. Any help is greatla appreciated HH
i also have another video of me making one from a stainless steel spade, and the sizes you have given is exact what the spade i use was. ruclips.net/video/2nk5jxUOgLs/видео.html
looks ok. but you will put the dreaded kink in it sooner or later .what you have done is its now not as strong as the cheap spade it originally was in the beginning I wouldn't fancy the chances of the cut down when the ground gets hard but then I wouldn't of in its original form.
If you look at other videos I since made a stainless steel one that I have a video in my list showing and my Detecting videos I do often shows me using it.
I don't have the template for this now as I started to make the stainless steel one which is a slightly bigger blade and looks a lot better as shown in one of my other videos.
