Duane had performed and jammed on that song in his pre ABB bands. In the description, Duane is actually the only one that was for a short time a Muscle Shoals guy. I see two Memphis guys (Duck Dunn and Al Jackson), and some New York City session guys.
Damn, that was a real treat! Everything you wrote is true...it shows the Sky Dog's ability to integrate really well into any kind of music...and it's great that the 'end' is long...Historic gem...
Duane et Greg Allman resteront dans mon passé musical des musiciens super j adore les stones sa depuis toujours mais plein de mecs sont différents dans leurs talents musicaux
The story I heard was that Allman Bros. were playing in NY's Central Park, Mann heard music from his apartment, was so intrigued he went down to investigate. Met Duane, they made plans to play together. Does anyone know if true?
Thanks Dave. I heard Purdie say in an interview that I saw last night after I watched this clip that he had performed on 4000 (four thousand) recordings to date. That interview was a few years old...What an incredible man. Thanks for bringing this out for those of us who want more of it! We appreciate it.
@@wtangodelta1715 4000 recording from whom? Sky Dog? I would believe that, because in his short life, I do not know when he had time to get high, he was touring or chilling while doing a project...everyone knew he was talent and they recorded him. Especially the Dead, who were already so way established, saw Duane and they recorded (many times only audio) everything they could that DA did...The Dead's music vault is loaded with amazing unidentified recordings of both DA solo AND the ABBs....BTW, it's a year since you blogged here, you probably know Gregg passed. I do not know how accurate these things are, I saw a blog of mine that said 7 years ago...it was from a couple of weeks ago.
Dave Bingham I reckon it wouldn’t make a difference if it was a baby goat or duck Dunn playing bass when the music is groovin this good lol. I think Jerry is on spirits in dark/What id say. Dunn on mans hope and If with Al jackson JR. And Rainey on rest

David Spinozza is an unheralded genius.
Serious stuff goin down right here.
Never heard this before, so ... how long to tell that's the Skydog on the slide? Bout one second.
He not playing slide on this just lead guitar
@@johngerrard5963 Ah, yeah, it's clear. I was tripped because non-slide from Duane is almost as distinctive as the slide.
Je suis heureux de partager cette super musique
The progenitor of the flute as a solo woodwind instrument is Mr. Mann.

By all accounts yes: that was how they met
Back in the days when a jazz musician could afford an apartment within earshot of Central Park.

Yeah, the credit is on the album & on-line, but there's nothing to say which Bassist played on which track! Thanks for the heads-up....
