I wouldn't want to choose between this work and Jongen's Symphonie Concertante. The Jongen probably has a higher "wow factor" but they are both wonderful pieces. Whether one is "greater" than the other is debatable and probably a matter of personal choice.
A shame we don't hear more of this in concert halls. Dupre's only liability is he was too prolific and did write some pieces that were very good but much of its time. This one while not breaking any significant ground is a model piece of how to write for organ and symphony and really should be heard more.
This is a good performance but it doesn't really stand up against Michael Murray with the RPO under Jahja Ling. Not only is that a better performance but it's better recorded and is probably as close to definitive as you can get since Mr Murray was Dupré's pupil and biographer.
The greatest organ symphony in my opinion, and a superb performance!

I dont know of many, just Saint Saens No3, this one, Copland and another one...

Yes, now I see it... duh!
