Very insightful. Thanks! (I do a similar process with composite vacuum molding where my mannequin is a dummy part/slightly undersized mold plug). I work out the cloth cuts/seams, pin to plug and then place in mold, unpin, tape down. Thanks for hipping me to the "darting/draping" term :) Learned something! Thanks again!
Thank you for a great video! Stumbled upon it accidentally and you have really quality content! I wonder how can the number of subs be true, you should have 10 times more with content like this. One thing that has always been a bit unclear to me, one does not take into account wearing ease while draping? Is it added when transferring design to paper? Or should it be included to dress form's measures?
@@susaneliascouture are there guides for working out what amount of ease is needed, I understand that it is part personal preference, but surely there are minimums required for movement, obviously knit would be different as it likely will have stretch
Oh thank you for your comment. You’re welcome! The apex is a point but if you are referring to the side level grain line going towards the apex. That line will move as you change locations of the dart. So yes the grain lube will change accordingly;).
@@susaneliascouture Do you mind me also asking the following, traditionally, measuring Bust is 1" down from armhole?....what is the proper measuring (do you have a video on this?) for Waist, High Hip and Low Hip please. Are the measurements (down) the same for CF and CB?
I understand dart manipulation and have done a lot of it during flat pattern making. My natural waist is much higher than on your mannequin and it is reflected on my dressform (from moulage). I would never wear a top that stops at the waist, so I'm always curious as to how to drape with that in mind. Since most of the fabric is released below the waist, how would I do this same exercise going down to the high hip? Would I need a waist dart as well? (I am more of a rectangle shape, so not much shaping in front, but I have a sway back) Can I still do these types of dart manipulations? Thank you!
Yes, you can drape it below the waist. Just. Pull out the excess tightly at the side seams to eliminate any need for a dart. You can always schedule a zoom consult with me if you desire.

Thank you I do agree lol;). As far as ease goes when you drape a basic pattern the ease is added in the truing process.

Thanks as always for great content, re the apex grain line, does it need to always remain parallel to the floor as you move around creating darts?

I block my muslin every time I make any design!
