Trier, Germany, formerly known in English as Trèves, is a city on the banks of the Mosel River in Germany. It lies in a valley between low vine-covered hills of red sandstone in the west of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, near the border with Luxembourg and within the important Moselle wine region.
Trier is considered Germany's oldest city, as it's officially recognized as founded in 16 B.C. Trier's also the oldest seat of a bishop north of the Alps. In the Middle Ages, the archbishop-elector of Trier was an important prince of the Church who controlled land from the French border to the Rhine.
With an approximate population of 105,000, Trier is the fourth-largest city in its state, after Mainz, Ludwigshafen, and Koblenz. The nearest major cities are Luxembourg (50 km or 31 mi to the southwest), Saarbrücken (80 kilometers or 50 miles southeast), and Koblenz (100 km or 62 mi northeast).
Task Force Richardson of the 10th US Armored Division: Here is MG (Ret.) Walter B. Richardson. In WWII he was a Lt. Col. of the 1st. Bn. 32nd. Regiment, known as Task Force Richardson. He led his Task Force all the way from Normandy to Dessau, Germany. He was wounded 4 times, but never missed a day of action! Today, an appreciative commemoration plaque from Trier's officials is thoughtfully displayed on the Römer Bridge in Trier (included in the video here), because of his great leadership and the soldiers' bravery and execution. 3adspearhead.co...
Caveat: Mr. Richardson was born on January 9, 1912, in Athens, Texas. He passed away April 22, 1945 in Oberlenningen, Germany. Ober-lenningen is in the region of Baden-Württemberg and is a city in Germany - some 324 miles or 522 km South-West of Berlin, Germany's capital city. en.wikipedia.o...

Lynn and Otis Cue Pate are married military brats who grew up in the US military family diaspora. We both have spent most of our lives in Germany. Lynn in Darmstadt/Frankfurt, Germany, and, Otis in Frankfurt since 1977, on and off, as he has moved numerous times since then, but always returning to his home away from home, Frankfurt am Main. As of right now in 2021, Otis has been in Germany for 38 years since 1977. By the way, Lynn was born in Frankfurt, Germany at the 97th General Hospital, which is now here in 2021, the United States Consulate.
Lynn and Otis also graduated from the same High School, in the same class, at the same time in Frankfurt, Germany. Good ole Frankfurt American High School was our scholastic, social, and athletic stomping ground. Although we didn't know each other at that time. Nevertheless, we both are proud Frankfurt Alumni Eagles, Class of 1985! Not to forget that Lynn is a United States Airforce Veteran. She served from 1986 - 1990.
Lynn and Otis have been together for 27 years, as of November 2021. We've been married since our trip to Las Vegas in April 2006. LOL!

Thanks Eagle brother. I graduated in 1978 and my Aunt Lydia is from Trier. I have wondered what her home was like. She has told me that there was a Roman influence and I am pleased to see it! Thank you.

I went to Trier on a class trip in 1985, I was in the 6th grade at Vogelweh Elementary. We took a train there and remember being inside the wall area of the old part of town.
