Watford used to be such an attractive town with a huge amount of character. There were 2 large department stores: Cawdell’s & Clements. I moved away in the early 70’s & went back 3 years ago & burst into tears at how consecutive councils over the years had completely destroyed the town. Thank you for these great videos. Cawdell’s was bit before my time but I remember Clements , the kids toy department was down in the basement in the 80’s , my parents bought me one of those Mr Slush machines down there , what a disappointment that turned out to be . I think the only “proper” remaining store from the old days now is Jacksons the jewellers , still looks like a little shop out of Dickensian London 👍
