Thundercat's bro is a beast on drums
WORD
Love that fake-out he does in the middle of that insane break.
Unreal drummer. You can see Thundercat chuckling over the ferocity of his insane drum solo starting around 4:30
The drummer is Stephen Bruner, Thundercat's brother. Great jazz drummer. He's dope.
@@bruinjay01 *Ronald Bruner Jr; Stephen is Thundercat's name.
Oh yeah, mixed them up 👊🏽
He is amazing
So intense pulse
Phantastic music! Ronald Bruner Jr. is the most innovative, musical, soulful, unbelievable and wonderful drummer I ever heard; thank you so much for this video!
Spiritual beings creating high vibrations and divine energy with music. Thats what its all about.
Nah dawg, its straight trippin, watching anime, playing videogames and getting inspired
low vibrations all around there, if we're being literal, lol.
@@imthewizardofoz yes but they make you feel high lol
Seen him twice in small spaces once with an all brother lineup, just sick. I've seen Stevie, Bootsy, George, Dr. John, D'Angelo, James Brown, Outkast Stankonia tour, etc and Thundercat is up there with all the greats. A true cosmonaut. My best friend and partner in experimentation sadly OD'd in early 2020. This track makes me smile about all the mushroom adventures we had and reminds me our loved ones are always with us.
Keep coming back to this.....
That drum solo is absolutely ridiculous
RIP Austin Peralta 😢 🎹
We see you Ronald!
Yeah My Nigga on the drums!
Oh daaaaamn!!! Literally this was the first time I heard Thundercat when this first came out and it changed me as a musician. Literally couldn't find it anywhere online for so long! Can't believe it's been on f*ckin youtube for a year haha! LOOOOVE!
How old is this video originally?
@@slimothee5773 oh jeez at least 12 years old? From the basement ran from 2005-2009
I’ve seen loads of these from the basements from years back. How have I never seen this
I'm pretty sure the other artist on this episode was Radiohead performing Reckoner. That's nuts.
This is one of my favorite thundercat performances , I used to watch some janky bootleg shit version of it back in like 2012 because it wasn't posted on RUclips for some reason. Thanks for finally posting
Yeah ,recorded it at the time from Sky . Then lost it ..glad its backs .Bad ! As i remember
ha ha the drummer mad skills!
i love the little bite out of the brim of his hat -- very anime
Absolutely astoundingly beautiful, gorgeous, soul-touching performance
got me emotional
Young Dennis chambers on drums 😉
So quiet. Why?
Blow my mind awesome
what a piece of art
Awesome!!
Wow, great sound!
It's the mic flip at minute 5:36
So many pluses too.
I should have played in this session but i overdosed the night before, my life is a mess please help me
you're a massive drummer-i hope you are doing better. do not be afraid to seek help, you are talented and loved.
you can only help yourself, especially when it comes to drugs
bop
Mandatory viewing.
goddamn
I’m amused at the bass player getting a second bass player. And that Thundercat apparently has been stealing from Gary Clark Jr’s wardrobe.
The engineer should be arrested immediately lol
😂😂💀
the rainbow dash shirt tho
I wanna meet this Jondy cat. Or maybe I don't.
If i understand correctly, Johndy was a friend of his that passed away. It's based on his recollection of a trip they shared
@@N8russell Austin Peralta is the friend he's talking about
4:03 5:36 😭❤️
Does anybody know what is the bass he is playing? It looks like a custom 6-strings Ibanez BTB but I can be wrong
4:05
who's the second bassist?
And I'm not going to get tattoos because it's such a relief not get those.
Is this song about shrooms or acid or sumn?
Yes. Its about a psychedelic experience he had with his friends.
when was this recorded
Video was uploaded in May of this year but the song was released in 2013.
9 years ago he came a long way
this was recorded sometime around 2011/2012, the album was released in 2011 and thundercat got the current bass he uses to this day around 2013 and 2014
I'm just going to make music.
Brilliant performance, awful mixing. It's a shame you almost can't hear the great Brandon Coleman.
and the og drummer of this song is justin brown, but both him and ron are insane at drums
Thought it was Thomas
It's actually Thomas Pridgen
@@WavesByWayne It's Absolutely Thomas
crap mixing
The mixing is pretty good, its just quiet
@@onthebackwheel I actually liked how quiet the piano break was compared to the rest of the instruments
jonny chandler hell no i cant even hear the rhodes solo
@@Jpgoeagles crank up your hearing aid
@@Rnbowbne lol i got headphones on , the keys need to be turned up. definately took away from the performance
