I've been waiting patiently for this, I did my R60 ALL4 clutch off the garage floor couple years ago and I can attest that it's a pain in the ass, I didn't put mine into front end service mode, dropped the sub-frame out instead and disconnected the prop shaft at the transfer case. Great job Kevin.
Kevin i can't believe how much quick and responsible you are !! You are probably the most popular and responsible mechanic in great Britain !! I suppose you are Liverpool fan !! Only Liverpool FC!!
Extremely helpful! I'm doing the turbo, timing chain, head gaskets, and clutch on a bargain 2013 R60 I picked up. I literally could not have done it without this video.
Bonsoir Kevin-Albert Williams. Vous avez du mérite, la Mini est très bien réalisé comme conception, la moindre mécanique démonter toute la voiture incroyable.
The video came in very handy!! It also shows how pro you must be! Doing this with Jack stands in the driveway?! I had a hell of a time and I took the whole front off and had a lift 😆 also I feel like you made several parts look a lot easier than it really ought to be lol. Great video! I subbed just to see more stuff like this!
I think you have great business and I want to see you succeed. You do this all on the ground which in a challenge in itself. To me it looks like you're good at what you do and fast at it. Keep up the good work and keep releasing the awesome content for us.
I replaced a snappped rear sway bar and links on a golf mk5 2005 on Saturday. The heat and the rusty bolts nearly killed me. Only ever did one clutch. Mitshubishi galant whilst it was snowing. Never touched a clutch again. Something satisfying about watching this fella work.
Holy crap, the amount of work to replace the clutch is way more than I expected. I'm gonna have to take it to a mechanic because I just don't have the patience for that.
Great video.... the bolt at 16:58... I missed that and fought with transmission for 2 hrs before I realized that bolt was there! ughh. Should have been paying attention...
By heck mammoth job! I bet when they rang up you cringed when told it was 4wd!!!! I take my hat off to you doing that job 🎩 As ever Kev, your a master at your work 🙏👍🏻
Really enjoy watching your videos, I work alot on cars myself, Got a cosworth myself, And i do hate to replace the clutch and such on that thing but i do it in a garage. So its nothing compared to your work!
Awesome camera work! Thanks for the effort! I’ll be doing this soon, it’s nice to know what you’re getting into. Looks helpful to remove the front end but not necessarily? Im surprised you didn’t replace the main seal while you were in there
Hey there thanks for the video. I too am having to replace the clutch in my R61 paceman. I have gottan everything apart and bolts removed inorder to separate the bell housing from the engine just as you did in the video. My question to you Kevin is im having a hell of a time seperating the bell housing. I have the engine supported by a floor jack and im positive that all bolts are removed. How did you do it so easily. I know the bell housing has 2 dowels for alignment up top. I am struggling here. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Another great job kevin, have just inherited the wifes 2016 countryman reckon the clutch is getting fairly close as well!!, damn shame your not closer to margate!!.
Lots of work on this car. Lots to disassemble. When do you show us how to replace the clutch on a Citroen C5 ? I understand it's 7 hours of work. I know you replaced the clutches on the Citroen C5. Thanks king Kevin ! Thanks teacher Kevin !
I've got to do one of those soon you normally make job's look simple 😩 I'm half way through sorting a diesel one with a camb chain failure engine out full strip etc the prop shaft was difficult and the transfer box doesn't seem to come out until the gearbox is loose I was hoping to find a easy way to go with the next one 😢
Can someone please tell me what that piece is hes using to those 2 pieces together at 49:29? Also is he just spraying water on the clutch and inside the transmission to clean out excess?
I am doing one of these now. Clutch came with an instruction sheet indicating special tools are needed to install the self adjusting clutch or the clutch wont work correctly. I take it you had no problems afterward?
it never ceases to amaze me how far BMW will go to make everything that typically goes wrong so incredibly impossible to get to. They have absolutely no consideration for maintenance except to hope you take it to the dealer and pay a small fortune for them to get more gray hair. It must be part of their business model. Great video but I think I will sell my Mini before the clutch goes :)
did you use any special tools? the one in the middle of the pressure plate and disc is just a centering tool right? You didnt have to do anything with the self adjusting mechanism? currently just did this job and car wont go into gear with clutch to the floor, it will roll slightly when i try and force it into first gear like its not disengaging the pressure plate.
Good afternoon Kevin, I hope you are enjoying this sunny day. This will be my evening viewing, I bet this mini was a job and a half to do being all wheel drive
What a great job well done properly I salute you, I'm sure taking it to a garage that would cost you an arm and a leg just for labour. Do you know how to do the wishbones on this car does it involve dropping the subframe as well like the older models to get access to the 2 bolts hidden at the top of the end bush or you can simply do them from the bottom of the subframe, thanks?
I have a Kia Ceed 1.0. It’s only done 16,000 miles and I’m the second owner. The clutch doesn’t slip or drag, but it’s jerky when you release the pedal after changing gear, mainly from first to second. If you don’t release it really slowly it’s hard not to induce a slight jerk. It’s hard to be smooth around town because of this. Could it need a new clutch? No idea how the previous owner drove it. A friend mentioned the torque springs on the clutch could be worn. Would appreciate your thoughts.
@@WMCS thanks for your reply. Out of interest why does lack of driving affect the pressure plate springs? The car is three years old and 16,000 miles. Thanks.
Ciao from Italy i have an audi a3 1.6 tdi 105hp cay from 2012 with start stop. You can tell me if I have a single or dual mass flywheel?? Thanks good job
I'm 7 months late to the comment party, but dayum you are brave and a masochist. I ran a mobile repair service for several years, and I specifically didn't do jobs that required pulling engines and transmissions (I got talked into the odd clutch on Subaru or little pickup truck here and there, just because they are easy) just because they are such a PITA outside of a shop with a lift. Good on ya, and if I had to guess, you've got a good enough niche for it to be a successful enterprise. Gotta do the clutch in my wife's car (same thing as this vid) and no matter how many other cars I've done the same job on, it's great to see the specific model done beforehand, because damn does mini love making repairs into puzzles.
you should take a look at the little trolley the pakistani mechanics are using when removing the gearboxes ==> link here : ruclips.net/video/dcJoCar5hYU/видео.html
That was a serious amount of dismantling for the Mini-can't believe how patient you were, still getting the perfect camera angles
Thank you.

The best mechanic in UK !
Thanks for sharing !
Respect king Kevin !
Thank you so much for sharing this! Saving me sooo much time on the clutch change!
Thankyou so much for the kind gesture. It’s been well received and very much appreciated
i’m thinking about buying one with 106k miles, is it a good idea? it probably still has the oem clutch.
Bonsoir Kevin-Albert Williams. Vous avez du mérite, la Mini est très bien réalisé comme conception, la moindre mécanique démonter toute la voiture incroyable.
Just got this job before closing shop tonight. This video will be immensely helpful in the morning! Thank you so much!
No probs. Let us know how it goes down and if the videos came in handy.

The first person i see working on youtube.

That’s some serious dismantling just for a clutch, well done especially in this heat 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

It was a bit involved that one ….🍻☀️

Watching from Canberra Australia. Big job mate, I just did the clutch on my td4 06 Freelander and I thought that was hard lol. Hat off to you dude.
Thanks mate. Really appreciate the feedback.
There’s a TD4 on the channel. Let me know your feedback
Great work! So much work to change clutch. Thank you for the share Bro ☺️🙏
Thankyou.

Kevin you have iron nerves, all these plastics, fenders, cables, admiration
There’s so much of them

You need to bleed the hydraulic system.
@WMCS did that already but will try again, thanks!

Excellent video! Do you do service call to Wisconsin,USA? How heavy was the tranny? My 2015 Mini all4 needs clutch, not sure its a diy job.Thankyou
Excellent video, thanks for posting!
Did this job take any special tools?
Excellent work. Don't suppose you could film doing a 2.0 TSI Scirocco if you have any?
Wow, job and a half! Bet you had enough parts left over after putting it all back together to build another mini!
lol 🍻🍻🍻

My thoughts are the pressure plate springs are at a fault due to lack of driving.
New clutch for sure will remedy the issue.

Great video Kevin, top job done as always
Thanks Rico
total respect sir!
Gracias bro
Apparently the mini cooper is a mass car for you in England, but it is very bad for work, congratulations again.
Ворог усіх автосервісів👍💪👌
Hi did you had to take the subframe out? And why did you take the front bumper out?
?

Thanks for the feedback. Really means a lot coming from a fellow mechanic. I’m sure it’ll go well .,, only advise is go for the full VALEO Kit.
Approximately, how many fixes do you use to make in a day?
Grande,ingamba davvero bravo....
That is a major op, not for the faint-hearted.
How did u get the transfer box and the gears box back in all toehyher ?
As seen in the video. Just wiggle the spline in ., slowly slowly
Have you ever encountered stuck driveshafts in the gearbox? If so, how do you deal with them?
Not as of yet mate.

Muy bueno.. es verdad que hay algunos mini con el motor PSA, ya sabes , Citroën / Peugeot? 👏👏👏👏
Beau travail 💪🇲🇦
These vids are awesome 😎😎
That was a challenge!
Sure was Matt.
Question is: engeneering komplete garbage or smart :-)
Its a case of removing the car from the clutch instead of removing clutch from the car.
😁😆
