Send a test amount first. Also, after copying and pasting, double check first and last 3-4 characters/numbers match exactly.

Yes, always!!! Send the smallest amount possible. Double check it landed in the correct wallet THEN send the rest!
That's a good habit to get into unless you're stuck using Ethereum. Then it can get expensive. Still better than losing all your coins though.
The fees are too high. A test send 2as costing me 24 bucks

Don't send usdt from binance to coinbase on optimism even though it's provided as an option, coinbase apparently doesn't support optimism yet even though a warning is no where to be seen!

If you make a typo the most likely scenario is that the build in checksum isn’t correct, and the transfer won’t go through at all.

The last example isn't explained well. If i understand correctly: If you send ETH to non EVM, then it does sit on the chain under that address, but you cant generate the private key with you your etherium seed phrase? So that is similar to scenario 3?
The actual answer is that chains are entirely unrelated except shared addressing in some cases. To send from eth to polygon you have to bridge the assets. Centralized exchanges typically do this automatically for you. If you select incompatible chains then it's up to the exchange what happens ultimately. Since they're handling the bridging. But wrong address = funds are lost. If you just select wrong eth l2, same keys are used everywhere so you can access bridged funds.
There's a 4th posibility : you initiated a transaction but your internet or power went out. Your wallet thinks you don't have that amount but everyone else doesn't know that so unless the wallet can rebroadcast the transaction on demand your funds are stuck. Happened to me :|

Keep in mind that this is like the early Internet days this is the copper wiring, the pipes, the cement, the foundation being laid. These are the circuit boards and wires below the ATM. Once crypto is adopted it will be a simple depositing and withdrawing Fiat cash from an ATM
What issues lol, if you write the wrong address it will obviously go to the wrong person, just like writing the wrong email address or the wrong IBAN
The same thing happens if you try to mail a letter to the wrong address BTW.

They really need to solve this problem before mass adoption.

I reckon you send to recipient, recipient acknowledges receipt, sends message to sender confirming something known to both (say passcode), sender then accepts validity. Only if all three occur does the transaction get finalised. Otherwise transaction does not finalise.
What if I sent wrapped-solana from my wallet to my coinbase Solana? The transaction went through but I can't see the money? Is there any way to get that money back?
talk to Coinbase about it. they may recover. Dont trust random people online who say they will recover. they are scammers
If the TX shows that coinbase received it you should contact their customer support. If you use sol in self custodial wallet and send to the SOL address coinbase gives you, you should receive the funds fine. I've done this numerous times. Sometimes it takes a second for coinbase to show it.

If you send crypto on the wrong chain but from one cex to another cex... you can recover those funds... but you have to pay each cex fees to do so...

@@K-boy22 search for crypto bridges, BNB exchange had one few years back, there you can send an asset from one chain, to another if you connect to a wallet or give an adress.

Technically the transaction is UNVERIFIED AND LACKs FULLY INFORMED CONSENT so it a illegal and unlawful transaction that should be canceled and returned to the owner, so the transaction Should be REJECTED AND RETURNED. But we dont have the crypto legal regulation structured required to RETURN TO SENDER incorrect transaction.
ALL TRANSACTION ARE A CONTRACTUAL EXCHANGE OR FREE TRADE BY FULL INFORMED CONSENT OF ALL INVOLVED IN THE TRADE OR PURCHASE AND ILLEGAL TRANSACTIONS AND TRADES SHOULD BE CANCELED.
If there is not individual on the other side of a crypto transaction they cant consent to the transaction so the contract should fall thru and be dissolved and rejected Thus all assets should be returned to their owners.

This is just an inherent address problem. If you send a letter to the wrong mailbox it's gone forever. If you send an email to the wrong email address, the wrong person receives it. If you wire funds to the wrong bank account number, it ends up in the wrong place.
This isn't a problem unique to crypto...
