After watching your channel for a couple of years, my appreciation and love has grown for so many variety of plants! Echinacea is definitely one of them! I used to pass by so many plants and flowers and just go straight to a couple of my "go-to's" every year, but now, I stop and get so excited when I recognize (and can name) what I've learned from you! Thank you so much! My garden is evolving and becoming more beautiful because of you!
Same. I’ve never liked ornamental grasses until I started watching Laura a few years ago. & never thought about shrubs or structure in my garden for that matter. I have so many garden dreams now. Thank you Aaron & Laura!! 💛🌿🐝🌸
100%! My plant knowledge has increased by far from watching GA for the last 4-5 years! I love how she doesn’t just plant, she educates and gives us the “tag stats” Of each plant as well. HUGE garden answer 🪴 fan!
Hey Laura, just wanted to say thanks, I remember you have said if it doesn’t bring you joy it’s ok to get rid of plants. A couple of my summer pots were getting tired and I was getting rid of them. My husband stopped me and said,” why are you doing that they still have some time left”. I said, “ Laura said it’s okay” 😂😂
I read this to my husband and he laughed and said, "So Laura is the the Garden Goddess" . I laughed and said," yep...that sounds right". 🤣 She is for me for sure.
I completely agree! Up until I found this channel, I felt this huge sense of "commitment" to the plants in my garden, just because I had spent money for them. Many of them were not bringing me any happiness nor did they add anything to my garden anymore. In one of Laura's videos she said that it's ok to dig out / give away any plant that doesn't bring you happiness, so I dug away! Gave away so many hostas to friends and posted ads to give away the plants. This was one of the best things I learned from Laura.
☕️Happy Friday to all! Laura, you have the best ideas and ‘eye’ for just to plant where. I love the echinacea plants-when I first planted them in my yard years ago, the color choices were minimal. Now there’s a color for everyone. Thank you for planting a little bit of memories of my days in the garden … you are a bright respite from all the sadness happening to so many right now. Stay safe, be well, and keep crawling, Samantha Grace ! 🍼🍃🦋
A few years ago, I planted 'Rainbow Marcella' (I think that's the name). It was supposed to be orange. Last year it bloomed the most glorious icy pink (I prefer cool colors) so I bought another one. That one IS orange, maybe it's in more sun. Unfortunately, I think I stepped on the first plant in early spring and killed it because it never came back. 😟
Butterflies and bees are going to love those areas! Beautiful choices……with the sedums and Buddleia Bush all you need is a water feature and you have the perfect makings of a butterfly garden. Who knew there were so many colors of Echinacea to chose from? I’m making a visit to my garden center today. Thanks so much for the inspiration! 👍
I have been watching for a few years and never commented, but seeing your choices of echinacea made me want to join in. I just planted Sombrero Flamerco Orange and I am loving the color! I’ll be on the hunt for the color’s you have chosen. Thank you.
First year I’ve grown some perennials from seed and I have you to thank for it. I transplanted into pots, which would have NEVER occur to me in the past. In a few weeks many will go from the pots to their permanent in-ground locations but now as established good sized plants. Thank you!
Whenever I hear that something is deer resistant, I want to try it. It is rare day when deer are not in my yard in the morning. I keep my hosta close to the house back planted with herbs but this year the deer found them. In one night, they were all eaten. I replaced most of the hosta with brunnera which I also learned about from your channel. Thank you!
Love how your nail polish matches the flowers! As a gardener myself, I'm chuckling because I can't keep polish decent for more than a day or two and I know that you're the same way. ❤️😻
With the grass pathways and borders it’s going to be a beautiful walk thru a park like setting. A walk thru a a beautiful interesting and wild garden. I can’t wait to see the pathways and borders done.
The echinacea is beautiful and will look so lovely out on the new property; the new property is my favorite place. Watching you is the first thing I do every morning and it's always so sad when you say, "See you in the next one" and I have to wait 24 hours to see more. On some days I just go back and find older episodes to watch especially ones on the new property and with Aaron flying the Drone. To the both of you I say thank you so very much for all your hard work and letting us be right there with you. I love it so much.
I appreciate that Laura and Aaron along with their families all work together to produce and manage such beauty. It takes intelligence, discliplinr, dedication, faith...💝💝💝
The grass and the mulched areas really make your new property look established. The perennials are bringing the colour. Great planning and execution, you guys.👍❤️
Between the grass coming up and the new plantings - it’s really coming together and I can start envisioning what a beauty your new space will me. Even more than it already is!
I love having echinacea in my garden! I have heavy clay soil and very intense deer pressure. Apart from the (to be expected) “test nibbles” when fawns are starting to explore, they mostly leave them alone. Mine are looking a bit scraggly by this time of year, but they look great for most of the summer.
The green twisters get about 4 feet tall, just in case your tag didn’t say that. I saw you planted some towards the front. I’ve had that variety for 3 years now and mine aren’t in as much sun as yours and they easily get 4 feet tall
I just planted some grass seed yesterday. We're getting several days of rain so wanted to take advantage of the free water. I hope it fills in as quickly as theirs.
I started the green twister from seed last year (had one bloom last year) and this year it is huge and beautiful. Gets taller than 30 inches for sure. Its probably the most asked about perennial in my garden. You are going to love it!
I am so enjoying the transformation of the new property. Halfway through the summer, here in South Jersey, I leave the seed heads on. The gold finches love the seeds, and I enjoy watching the antics of these little birds.
Last year, I deadheaded my echinacea to spread the seed in another area. Except I didn't do it right away. I just plopped the seed heads in an empty container and the next day almost all of them were gone. Squirrels.
I have Echinacea in all my gardens facing all directions. Absolutely love them. Some varieties (either due to birds or the plant itself) do spread so I’m replanting, giving away, or doing a plant exchange every year. Thanks for showcasing this perennial. 💖
Echinacea are one of my favorites for how tough they are. Those new varieties are truly stunnning and that cantelope one is AWESOME! Thank-you for sharing!!
Echinacea are my favorite, love the varieties you have. I have been adding more and more into my garden, love watching the birds come for the seeds too, especially in the winter.
I have planted a few of these varieties and the spread was much larger then the tag had said. So beautiful and a perfect no maintenance plant. I should look for more 🤔 😆❣
Laura I see your energy hasn’t diminished with summer, mine certainly has! A small garden as I have in the Mediterranean where I live has gone through a heat wave and it has done a lot of damage. Discouraging in spite of the hard work. I have saved seeds from perennials and that’s what I will stick to mostly next year. Some dahlias did beautifully but the heat wave simply burn them, it was so sad! I follow you and enjoy your videos, thank you👍😍🙏
Laura is such an inspiration! I am envious that she can do so much of her own digging ("auging") and planting. I am doing lots of back stretches and strengthening exercises o that I can get into my garden digging and planting more easily!
Those are one of my favorite types of flowers and the bees and butterflies love them. What fun and colorful your land is shaping up to be. Many blessings
As a garden center owner I couldn’t agree more. If you want to have continuous color in your perennial beds one needs to see all the beautiful plants throughout the year. There have been some incredible breeding of echinacea the last 15 years.
Headed to my favorite garden supplier tomorrow! Going to check out those echinacea's :) Time to freshen up for the Fall! I'm a "newbie" to your channel and cannot get enough of it. So much inspiration, encouragement, and joy here! Thanks, Laura and Aaron...for everything! P.S...just shared your channel with my mama this week who is waiting for back surgery. At the young age of 81, she was still planting gorgeous containers. My 85 year old dad is the waterer these day and has done a phenomenal job! But mom cannot wait to be able to get back to the garden! Big smiles!
Just amazing Laura as always! I planted two sombrero coneflowers called “balsamanita” along with “prairie sun” rudbeckia, “Mesa bicolor” blanket flower this past June, and I just added “lil red Elf” coreopsis about 10 days ago or so. I love it!
So pretty! I'm thinking of planting Echinacea now that I've seen them in your garden. I just love that music you chose as you were planting. I think you should call that Laura's theme. I saw a cooking video and they played that theme, and I just said, no! That is Laura's gardening theme! My day isn't complete unless I've watched your video. Thank you for making my day.
When you go to a nursery and see all the colors together it’s breathtaking! If only the elk would leave mine alone. I have to find a new home for them inside the garden fence
Me, too. In Michigan, I had coneflowers practically growing out of concrete. Here in Massachusetts, I have trouble getting them going at all, and then the rabbits eat all but the stems. 😫
Liquid deer and rabbit fence spray stinks but it keeps the deer away from my hydrangeas, roses and supertunia vista bubblegum and snowdrift. (Stinks like fish guts).
The new property is so pretty already and is going to be so beautiful someday. I hope we get to see both your kids have their weddings in that beautiful, and love-filled place in the years to come, when that area is grown and all the time and care you gave it shows in every leaf and flower
I love echinacea and these are gorgeous. I love the seed heads, too. The birds benefit so much from them. I love that you think of them for winter interest. I dead head mine until about this time of year here in Texas. They still have time to put on more blooms before the end of the season. Then I leave those for the birds. Tfs. The new property is looking great. 👏🏻💕👏🏻
Yeah I agree if you have the time you can definitely dead head several times to keep many more blooms coming through the months, then leave the last bunch of blooms on the plants for birds & winter interest. Plus the spent flowers that you are cutting off can be dried and used for medicinal tea for us humans if needed in the winter months. Something for everyone! :-)
Can I say WOW the Echinacea are so wonderful and Proven Winners have an amazing variety of different colors available! Thank you Laura for sharing this gorgeous plant with us! Once again you have made my day special just by being a part of it!
Love the music you have in this video, I know you've used it before and it suits your planting videos, it's a happy tune. Whoever selects your music does a great job partnering it with whatever you're doing and adds so much to each video. Do you have a favorite or tune that you would consider your Garden Answer tune?
Hi Laura and Aaron! Those Echinacea are all so pretty. I like the colors on the Cantaloupe, and the petals on the Yellow My Darling the best. It's looking so pretty in the new area. Thank you so much for sharing!
I LOVE these varieties of Echinacea youve highlighted! The new property is really coming together--those grass walkways, shrubs, grasses and perennials are all starting to pull it together. love it! i just recently planted Aloha Echinacea! so beautiful and fragrant!
Oh I can't wait to see them as they grow. They are so beautiful. I just love all your garden areas. They really do look great. Great job Laura and Aaron.
Echinacea!! One of my very garden flowers. They make me happy. I will be planting more next spring. Lovely varieties. And your enthusiasm is contagious. Thank you 🌸
Laura, your garden 🌹 just keeps getting lovelier and lovelier as the days go by.I love all the colours and keep on growing. All the best for the weekend❤️
The Supreme Cantaloupe is a wonderful echinacea. I’ve had one in my garden for several years and not only is it beautiful but it is also a great performer. 🧡
Thank you for another beautiful planting video! 💚🌼🌿 Never tire!! Love seeing where you're planting...thanks for the extra bit of context re: location. Your family will enjoy those beautiful grass pathways for years to come!
You've often said that you don't have a formal plan when planting. How do you keep it from looking like a hot mess once it's all done? Meaning, I've seen people plant at random and it looks terrible. Is there at least a "formula" you use when planting, because your beds always look gorgeous 😍
Today’s planting shows some of that: plant multiples of the same variety in a drift to move the eye along, plant shorter things at the front of a bed, getting taller as you move back, larger things like shrubs and trees to provide weight and structure, keep colors cohesive but add in contrast. I spent years of just plunking a single plant of something I liked into my garden before I stumbled upon the idea of planting several of the same thing.
Drifts. Large swaths of color are restful on the eyes. I think lots of different plants make the garden look cluttered. And I'm a "plant collector" or used to be.
Everything you add just makes it more beautiful. Love those plants I have been adding more every year. Will you gather their seeds to replant? I have been doing that and so happy I did. I put the seeds in a pot last year for what ever reason they did not bloom last year but have made up for it this year. It’s been such a joy to watch them from my kitchen window. I’m getting ready to plant them in the garden for next year.
Good morning Laura and family, those are going to look stunning I'm going to see if the nursery has some, love the colors that you planted. Have a great rest of the day.
Happy to see you planting some echinacae this late in the season, just bought some to fill in some bare spots. Mine will be in front of two different color ninebarks.
I love how all the plants come together. After watching your channel I am going to purchase tool you used to dig hole. Having a shoulder injury I have limited planting. Thank you for your video I can now resume gardening.
I have loved coneflowers for years and there are so many beautiful colors now. They are a must in my gardens, they bloom for a long time throughout the summer into fall. They are great if you do not get alot of rain because they can take the heat.
Hey Laura, I’m in Louisiana, and we have just experienced a major Hurricane. I was without power for 6 days, and I’m blessed to have my power restored. I just wanted to say how much i missed your videos…… You really walk a delicate line, sometimes I have felt like you gloss over any “ unpleasantness.” But you are inspiring, positive, and like you have said, there are PLENTY of sources to get opinions that can be controversial, or saddening. Gardening is an escape, and I think it is balancing, relaxing. Just to say thanks again.
Those Abervitaes definitely put some growth and that is amazing because you put them in ground, like what, one month ago, during biggest warmth. First and largest chunk of lawn look very green and amazing. You will have some super treats for us when next year start to fill in and developing all those new flower beds! Looking forward 🥰
For some reason, seeing you plant flowers out on the new property makes it seem more like part of your garden. I realize you've got to get large infrastructure plants in place, too. Maybe I'm just more used to seeing you plant flowers. Either way, I could envision your family strolling down the grass pathways in the evening, enjoying the fruits of your labor. ~ Lisa
I have a small area that I need to plant, about 7’x20’ and I am trying to plan and be selective of what and where I plant things instead of my usual Willy nilly oh that’s pretty and buy and plunk it into the ground only to be the wrong place or plant. Laura you have definitely been a very positive influence on my garden knowledge and theory. Thank you so much. Thinking some echinacea will be on the list. I live in zone 11 so a bit of research will be done.
Just planted two different varieties of Echinacea in my Mom's yard this fall...I took a job as a perennial/houseplant vendor this spring and as a horticulture student, it's taught me so much I never originally knew!! (Like apparently, some people don't like the double flowering varieties because they're not as attractive to butterflies/bees) I still love them, and planted one (Double Scoop Cotton Candy) along with a single flowered variety (PowWow White)
Echinacea varieties are beautiful. They’re such wonderful plants and require so little maintenance. Love them. Sadly, a groundhog ate all of mine. Sedum would look great along the border. I’ve read that John Creech stonecrop is good ground cover to keep down weeds thinking of your puncture vine and bindweed). Things are really shaping up out there. Grass is coming in nicely. Arbs look like they’re thriving. So much progress in so little time. What a huge accomplishment.
Hey Laura & fam! Long time viewer, first time commenter :) love your channel so so much! Thank you for everything you do to inspire novice gardeners, like me! The science teacher in me couldn't resist popping by to clarify that the prefix echin- in echinacea does in fact relate to spikes or spines, but from my understanding, it refers to the spiky cone in the center of the flower. Fun fact - sea stars are in the phylum echinodermata because echin- = spiky & -derm = skin. Spiky skin! Love me some root words.

Can’t go wrong with Echinacea. These are some beautiful specimens! Those pathways are going to be so beautiful once they fill in.
I’m on my third year trying. I drown them with love so I’m reducing my water this year and I’ve been more successful. Started them from seed.

OOOH LA LA! the splash of color is wonderful, love the pink and purple together and the melon one! Makes me want to go to my local nursery!
Good morning/day/evening, everyone! Hope you have a wonderful day. Happy growing! ❤️
We need a tour of the new property, and a regular garden tour tbh!
This weeks videos covered the entire property.
@@jgwood10 I know and still I long for a pepper tour haha. But mainly one of the new property!
Soon! 👍
Thank you 🌸
Happy Friday all. Have a safe Labor Day weekend.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Even when she doesn’t have a full plan she still makes it beautiful keep up the good work !!!
It is You Laura who made me fall in love with Echinacea 🦋
Thank you.
Garden Answer soothes my soul.
The new property is really taking shape and starting to fill in beautifully. You have such an eye for placement. Thank you for sharing
Happy to see you planting some echinacae this late in the season, just bought some to fill in some bare spots. Mine will be in front of two different color ninebarks.
Aaron, you do an amazing job with your moving shots and editing. You and Laura are quite the team!!!
Each time you plant something it’s exciting!🌸
So beautiful Laura! Just keep planting....
~ Lisa
Good morning to all I get soo excited when I see a video up from my favorite gardener it starts my day off right😊
The tea is so good & displays beautifully in a pretty jar
Omgosh! I love your new selection of Echinacea flowers! Awesome!
I absolutely love echinacea!! Such color variations- striking!!!
Coneflowers do great here. (I'm just 40 minutes from Laura.) I have about 11 different varieties. They will be beautiful.
Everything is looking so pretty out in the new garden spaces 😍
These varieties are STUNNING!!! ❤️
The excitemt in your voice.. 😁😁 seeing the greenery coming up and so lush.. my excitement seeing the property develop also doubled..
Good morning everyone 🌻 🏵 🌼 💐 🥰 ☺ 🌅☕
Just planted two different varieties of Echinacea in my Mom's yard this fall...I took a job as a perennial/houseplant vendor this spring and as a horticulture student, it's taught me so much I never originally knew!! (Like apparently, some people don't like the double flowering varieties because they're not as attractive to butterflies/bees) I still love them, and planted one (Double Scoop Cotton Candy) along with a single flowered variety (PowWow White)
Who else loved seeing Benjamin's trucks in the bucket in the back of the Gator at the beginning?? 😂 Necessary garden equipment!
The cones are beautiful. I really like the purple. Very nice.
I love the green twister! So beautiful!
Echinacea are one of my favorites and the gold finch love the seed heads
These are beautiful. You spoke a lot about these which has inspired me to purchase them for my garden. Thank you.
I’m loving Benjamin’s tractor in the grey bucket 😜
@@trevormanuel9869 well. I was weeding on Friday not knowing that it was poison ivy that I was pulling. Needless to say, ended up in the ER today. My face is swollen, hot, red and ITCHES. Got a shot, a pill and 4 prescriptions. I’m absolutely miserable
