I think this is my favorite Deltarune song. It's the most fantasy-like theme in the OST, and it makes me nostalgic despite how recent the game is. It's such a happy and whimsical theme imbued with a hint of sadness.

Honestly if Nintendo Decided to restart the Mario and Luigi series Toby would be definitely be the New series composer would it delay Deltarune Chapter 3 by months at very least yes but would it have an Amazing soundtrack OH HELL YES.
Having Toby Fox compose something for a Mario RPG game would be amazing. And it's not really out of the question either, he's worked with Nintendo & some companies under them before. Like when he composed a track for Pokémon Sword & Shield, when he got the Sans Mii costume in Smash Ultimate and composed a remix of Megalovania for it, and of course when he got Undertale & Deltarune on Switch.
Quiet Autumn and Scarlet Forest are both beautiful classical music that i love, part of my top 5 favorite song from chapter 1 along with Chaos King, Fields of Hopes and Dream and Vs. Susie! (i also love Lantern for Sheam's shop, this song is my number 6th favorite)
@Mery Soot I like to think there's a reason as to why Gaster's theme is as simple as it is, and that the use of this arpeggio helps with the "scattered through time and space" thing
“Back on the board, I went to the nearest level icon I hadn’t seen yet, which was a white tree. As I had guessed, the level was a winter themed recolor of the forest stage. But unlike the regular forest, I didn’t feel unnerved starting this one. I think the music had a lot to do with it. It was a gentle, calm song. It almost sounded romantic. It was quite stress relieving, and the forest looked much less ominous covered in snow. I traveled through the first segment enjoying the atmosphere for 4 minutes, when suddenly I realized something: I haven’t seen a single creature since I started the level. Where are all the animals? Soon after, I left the screen, and the next segment started.”
Why does this sound like it would be so perfect to have playing softly in the background while you read the many conversations between a small group of kids messaging a larger group of alien kids like their all a bunch of fucking pen pals n shit?
Lowkey kinda like that the symbol is reminiscent of legend of zelda, namely the triforce and the fairy, which are essential elements of the zelda series. When you think about how link is the link between you and the game in zelda, I wonder if anyone ever connected the dots that 3 is also present in all games, there's you, the creator and then the game that connects both of you, 3. And just like the fairy who's job it is of guiding you the player, toby guides us instead with the way he writes us into the situation. Its been made clear Toby is a big fan of many classics and the games make me feel like I get to relive the wonder of childhood experience of gaming all over again. I'm filled with awe, wonder, anticipation, shock, joy, mourning, loss, truinph, memories, laughter, a pallete of the human experience and without listing any spoilers, its done in a way that is of meta that revigorates the experience. So many younger people blow off the series as overrated, and I wonder if they can even comprehend or simply appreciate the layers present in the same way there are just so many layers to this song. I feel like this song almost encapsulates the entire experience of undertale and delta rune as whole, it's a torrent of steady wind, pressing you forward with a silent certainty, the bass is consistent, it is reliable, the violins are calm, reassuring, adamant, but when the drums come in, the added elements of other instruments make it more playful, uplifting, like kids running outside laughing, then the bridge happens, and we are met with some more serious undetones before being met with an upbeat yet almost familiar close to the song that is like some of the other songs throughout the series. The song, encapsulates the experience, so much so, it led me to be able to put everything else I talked about into words. I hope there is many more beautiful games to come, but especially music. I mused over this song for hours and I suspect like other songs of this nature, it will live to reach its fair share of time in my life span, such as it deserves. They say the right music can create dopamine release the same way doing other activities can, and yet toby fox has managed to write several of those that just hit like that for me.
