Hey guys, thank you for all the nice comments and love for this video. I am not going to lie but i am not too fond of how it all came out! Happy that its out there but i just wish an official release would happen. I hope this video gives J Peter Robinson the drive to release an official soundtrack (that is if he has the scores on a master tape ...which i don't think that they were). I encourage people to share and support this video to show that an official release is marketable and highly requested. Regardless if all fails we at least have this and overall i am so happy that people still admire this video for what it is, that really says something special so thank you. :)
There are some glitchy areas between minutes 11 and 14 but I actually like it the way it is. If you mixed it from the film, I applaud your efforts. Huge fan of the film, here. I wrote a screenplay based on it 4 years ago. Still trying to get it produced.
It's funny how differently some people might see this movie. It happens to be a strangely important thing in my life, and today amazingly I find this. Thank you
I had always had a vague memory of this being on tv on Christmas night. So vague I wondered if I was just imagining it - that I was with my cousins on Christmas, sitting in front of the rabbit-eared tv watching 'The Wizard'. Just a few years ago I went to our University library where the have T.V. Guide archives. I started looking at the tv listings for Christmas night 1990 broadcasting. Sure enough, there it was! Even had a promotional picture of Fred Savage!
I was 9 in 1989. For the people out there like Jimmy, this movie ran deep. I'm one of them. I'm a big fan of atmosphere in music, and this movie had it in spades. There are similarities to Hans Zimmer's score in Rain Man, particularly in "California". "Let's Go" is my favorite. It's peak 80's scoring/music. A lot of music in the mid to late 80's had that big, slick production, with the fat, layered synths, and the wailing guitars. It's like a security blanket. I can wrap myself in those chords, and I still get those same feelings I had all those years ago. I would have probably liked this movie anyway, as I was obsessed with Nintendo as a kid, but the soundtrack really lifted it. Robinson did a really good job with the score, and Anthony, you did a terrific job recreating it. Bravo, sir. Thank you so much.
Let me tell you man, I go wayyyyy back with this movie. I remember seeing it in the movie theaters. Renting it when it came out on vhs and then recording off cable tv. Every time if I travel near the Dinosaurs I stop and go take pics. Great music and great great movie. I can't wait to show it to my 2 young sons when they get a bit older.
A family broken by tragedy, healed though the phenomenon of video games. The guy who wrote it was not even contacted by Nintendo to do so. I don't care what anyone says, this is a empowering movie. Great OST.
Such Awesome music! I remember as a kid when I first watched this movie in theaters with my Mom the music felt so magical! Like it was the dream I had always wanted come to life that I didn't know how quite to explain or realize but this whole movie made it come to reality. It gave me goosebumps it was all so surreal. This was every kids fantasy come to Life! I've been looking for a real score for this movie with full longer songs in their entirety. Especially for Dart the Map!
Every couple of years I go searching for more info on this soundtrack, hoping some which way there’s news that it’ll be released. I’m keeping my fingers crossed forever! Please officially release!
Appreciate you posting this. One of the more memorable favorite films of my childhood right here. I used to rent this from the library constantly in elementary school back when I was a Super Nintendo playin young lad
Absolutely brilliant, I have adored this movie since seeing it in the theater when I was 5 years ago. Its actually a very sad movie if you watch all the deleted scenes. Too many people just write it off as a commercial for Nintendo but I feel its much more than that.
Bro.......... if you listen oh so very close you can almost hear the lines from the movie in the tracks, but is soo well done I can't tell if its my nostalgia filling in the gaps or if it's in the the track itself., maybe a little of both....... you have no clue how f***ing thrilled to listen to this. well done-well done. thank you! (this movie meant a lot to me growing up)
I really appreciate the effort. I’ve been looking for the score to this especially the final game. Shame it’ll probably never see the light of day, like you said.
dude.....!!!! great job filtering the sound quality... this is top notch audio mastering!!! i happy with the quality as well.... you dont hear jenny laughing anymore i literally listened to the whole soundtrack just now. enjoyed every second of it. :)
Thank you for doing this! Im impressed and have no idea how you did it but great job. It brings back good memories. I was a little gamer kid when I saw this movie and had dreams of running away from home like this, haha. No wonder Im a long distance backpacker now :P
I'll Find My Way is my favorite song!! Sally Drowarsky, Live By the Groove Paul Carrack..& Send Me an Angel Reel Life..I can't believe..you can hear Fred Savage and Jenny Lewis (voices) cool 😎 Neat..🎮 I don't know what else to say..but, this is an awesome, overlooked 🎥 movie 🎦 📼 So many memories.👍👍 💕 i♡ the 80s 😍 ♥ -my favorite part!! Song. And,..sometimes you can hear Jenny laughing :) 😊 Love this..
Thank you for doing this! I've been looking for this for years. I emailed J Peter Robinson at one point to see if he had the audio, and it sounded like he wasn't sure if he had masters of it or not. Never realized that "California" is basically a continuation of "Darts in the Map"
You can. "Haley" (aka Jenny Lewis) is an indierock artist in real life who has built her music career through her band Riley Kilo. She currently a solo artist that continues to tour to support her albums. You could catch her at one of her shows as long as you don't appear too creepy about it ;).
On SD-DVD, sometimes you can separate music from everything else in an ancient version of VLC media player. Mono and Classical would occasionally strip dialogue and sound effects off the track and leave you with music. Blair witch 2, for example, you could hear only the music and none of the dialogue. But it only works with standard definition DVDs and a version of VLC from like 2005 or 2006.
Of course this isn't a rip-off of Rain Man! Everyone knows Ray is only allowed to drive the car on Mondays. Jimmy isn't allowed to drive anything besides a controller!!!
I love how it’s supposed to be a new game they are playing in the movie right super Mario 3!! So how the hell does she know about the warp hmmmm she did call all the game cheat places in the movie but if the games new how would she know to ask about it hmmmmmm lmao 🤣
The ending song to this film "I've found my way" I always found very moving. Can at times bring tears to my eyes. Really brings back memories of that time period. It's almost like a farewell theme to the 1980's. A time I miss very much. She sings a little flat but in a strange way I like it that way for this song. It's like the way an innocent teenage girl at that time would have sang it. Gives it a certain innocent quality and character that goes with the whole thing.

The music where they enter Reno, What's it called?

Wow, I almost thought that I wrote this after the first couple sentences.

I dont think im alone saying it was a great fun and great actor

Couldn’t have put it better myself. Saw it with my Dad in the theater. Makes me super nostalgic.

Excellent job. Have been looking for this score in ANY format for years. Well done!
for what it's worth, you did an amazing job on this
That first song still gives me chills

Even the background score (at the beginning) sounds like RAIN MAN...
I agree. Never realized this before but I also loved the Rain Man score. That explains why I loved this score as well.
The scenes are playing in my head with each piece of music.
Thank you so much for this. Amazing work!
I really appreciate the effort. I’ve been looking for the score to this especially the final game. Shame it’ll probably never see the light of day, like you said.
Thanks for this hidden gem!!!
10:21 "Jimmy's found a secret passagewaaaaaay!!"

Im attempting to learn the guitar part for the traveling theme that begins at 1:00. So this helps a bit, thank you
Funny how the score sounds like SNES music!
I’m here after reading the docs book, this soundtrack goes hard
9:53 Now the real battle begins.
11:11 She's out! She's out! She's out!
I wish I could meet Haley one day and just give her a big hug and thank her for role in this epic movie 🎬
You can. "Haley" (aka Jenny Lewis) is an indierock artist in real life who has built her music career through her band Riley Kilo. She currently a solo artist that continues to tour to support her albums. You could catch her at one of her shows as long as you don't appear too creepy about it ;).
" he touched my breast "!!!!
She doesn't have any breasts!
@@FlappyBelly*SO YOU TOUCHED HER BREAST HUH!?*
JIMMY, watch the mushrooms!!!

I had a power glove when I was in second grade. The damn thing didn't work and made your character in the game move out of control.
This is fantastic! Any chance for a download? Pleeeease?
Download the whole vid, get a RUclips downloader
..."CALIFORNIA"!!! 😩
Holy shit thank you
✌️💚
You can’t find this ANYWHERE
I tried also no luck my friend burned a CD for me that's all
Of course this isn't a rip-off of Rain Man! Everyone knows Ray is only allowed to drive the car on Mondays. Jimmy isn't allowed to drive anything besides a controller!!!
Is the score available anywhere to buy?
love it but this is the score, not the soundtrack.
Technically the soundtrack would be all the audio from the movie. People have been misusing the word "soundtrack" for a LONG time
I love how it’s supposed to be a new game they are playing in the movie right super Mario 3!! So how the hell does she know about the warp hmmmm she did call all the game cheat places in the movie but if the games new how would she know to ask about it hmmmmmm lmao 🤣
