I just got an AX8 and will start dialing in my presets after I get through this weekend's gig with my old rig. Your vids are very helpful and will get me down the road a lot quicker. Thanks for what you do.
Thanks Leon. Another great vid. You’re becoming the go to guru for Ax8. I have also used the GEQ to bump level and raise the mids. It’s a bit more subtle but really nice for creating a different voice for solos.
I considered mentioning the GEQ but since I rarely use it myself I'm not as clued in with how to get the most from it. I want to do a video on GEQ/PEQ pre or post gain adjustments.
dude. you're videos are so clutch. Just got my AX8. Its awesome, but almost like learning a new program, lol. Thanks mucho for all this great info brother!
Thanks Leon.., I prefer the PEQ method but have recently been using the scenes output to pull back the volume for some dynamic changes as well.. good vid
i just got an ax8... but what i cant figure out is how to get an amp model say like in bank 1-6 (59 tweed bassman), how do i copy that amp model to say an empty spot i have like bank 40-1 so i can modify it and make presets or scenes while still leaving the original 59 tweed bassman in bank 1-6 alone to use another time? Or is this not a necessary maneuver because Im missing something?
Hi Leon. I would like to clarify some issue. Normally we dial our preset according to level meter and try to have our max volume level on that line as Austin Buddy also indicated. This gives us the headroom we need and prevents digital peak distortion. When we do so, we get on the line level around -12dB on on digital output. When I dial a tone regarding this rule, I am on safe ground. However, after adding solo boost for about 3-4 dB, the preset volume exceeds that line obviously. On some points or chunk movements it reaches max which is what we wouldn't like :). So how do you cope with this issue? Would it be wise to dial the tone first according to that 0 level line and then lower the master volume of the preset for the same amount of boost to get again 0 level whenever the boost is engaged? I am sure you had used TC Electronic G-System earlier. That unit functioned this way in order to prevent peak. It was regulating the output volume automatically, holding the overall max volume with boost engaged constant and lowering the volume of the preset without boost.
Hi Leon. Any problem to use the GEQ or the Filter block before the cabinet block? Asking this because I have a FX loop block that allows me to send the signal to a Seymour Dyuncan 170 powerstage that feeds my 4x12 cabinet.
Hey Leon.. .just watching this video again for the 5th time.... I guess its really a matter of preference? I take you like the PEQ for solo boosts? ... Seems to be the way to go... I tried the others to.. This is a great video.. I have to be honest.. Parametric EQ's and regular graph style EQ's always sort of messed me up... I get the regular graph style.. but Parametric always threw me off. I have no idea why? Maybe because it's visual like the Graph style

Much appreciated, happy to hear they're helping. If you have any questions or suggestions let me know.
Love these "basic" but great tips and tricks videos that you do. I learned so much about the AX8. Please keep doing this. :-)
It's a fun series, plenty more to come!
You are a lifesaver Leon :)

Cheers! Yeah it's very much like learning the controls on a brand new gaming console!
Excellent
Hi Leon, is it possible to access scene output level 01:29 directly from the ax8? I looked and couldn’t locate it, thx

Me too ;)

Have you ever had any problem with the output clip ? .. could you please make any vid about that !!

hello Leon , love your video always helpfull , what do you think at the very end of the signal boosT with the ENHANCE bloc . Thank you for your input
Works great! I generally prefer a dual detune for that effect but enhance is awesome too.
Thank you for the respond @@LeonTodd
Hi Leon.

Asking this because I have a FX loop block that allows me to send the signal to a Seymour Dyuncan 170 powerstage that feeds my 4x12 cabinet.
How do you do all of this without having to walk around with a computer in your pocket?
hi leon, do you think that using the filter to solo boost is better than set the lead scene to 3b?
The filter gives you the ability to turn it on or off, otherwise they're the same
Super helpful, thank you!!!!!!
Hi Leon, is using a filter for solo boost different than say your video on single vs humbucker in front of amp?
Thanks dude.
You're welcome, hope it helps.

The graphic EQ is a great example of something being as simple as possible while being as effective as possible.
Leon, thanks so much for doing this. I've never seen the output option - does it affect CPU usage at all? I'm going to experiment with these.
Very tidy with CPU ;)
