I so love naked trees.. fully dressed trees..&trees in process of shedding? I have dreamt of doing these sketches.. so now I may actually attempt this! You have a way of simplifying things,,, but I'm FINALLY realizing I need to ATTEMP a few hundred times to actually bring together all that I'm learning from you.. You seem to exude patiencefor which I thank you😊

I’m so glad this was helpful. Try sketching trees in a small notebook so that it’s less overwhelming. You can do it! 😊

Thank you so much. The tip "seeing" shading sphere to clumps of the tree was just the step i so needed. Simple, i know, but so esssential, and i just didn't see it before. I was trying to see Too Much in the whole tree not the clumps. Thank you. I'm just starting studies/portraits of each of the trees on my new home place. I've been overwhelmed because the light and color and all changes so much each day, so starting when trees are losing leaves. Actually starting with twigs! haha. The sketches by Rembrandt were also very helpful, how just a few lines can create details and character that only comes from dedicated observation over time. Thank you again. I know i'll watch this episode multiple times. The simplest tip can be the essential step to "seeing" that makes all the difference. Watching you work thru the sketch is invaluable to me. I live in Oregon, USA, so fingerscrossed you do a Cloudscapes 10 Tips. the cloudscapes here are incredible for their dramatic contrasts and also for taking away the light source i need to sketch trees and old tumbledown barns! hahah

@@LeslieStroz Thank you. By the way, I recently ordered a full pan mixing palette of 14 colors produced by Roman Szmal from Poland. The package from Jackson's Art Supplies arrived today and I was eager to see for myself the bright colors I had heard about and try them, especially since they come in a metal box for such a reasonable price. The colors are vivid and jewel like in full concentration but soft and delicate when watered down. Combining colors such as Cobalt Cerulean and Quinacridone Gold, I get the nice muted tones that I like. I'm going to enjoy experimenting with these new colors. :)
