This album should have won the Grammy award for best reggae album of the year just based on its relevancy. Steel pulse was able to capture the spirit of the current times. Respect to David Hinds for still grinding despite the passing away of key band members.
And the Grammy went to teenage Koffee with her mini album. Nothing compared with Mass Manipulation. And we still don't know what the criteria is. Famed Reggae Singer Freddie McGregor made it clear in one video..
David sounds great as usual! Powerful lyrics with such an important message. Listen to the wailing harmonica and pulsating bass line, augmented by a terrific drummer. Blessings to this great reggae band. Jah love to you now.
In 2008, my friend Foad S., may his soul rest in peace, passed away. However, it was thanks to him that I had an unforgettable experience in 1990 or 1991. It was during this time that I had the opportunity to hear and appreciate, for the first time in my life, the band Steel Pulse, through an audio cassette. This cassette contained the recording of the concert "Rastafari Centennial - Live In Paris: Elysée" in France. This moment turned out to be a precious discovery, like a rare pearl, through which I could feel a special joy with each song performed. I would like to extend a special thank you to my friend Foad, because without him and this cassette, this unforgettable musical experience would not have been possible. His generosity in introducing me to Steel Pulse in this way enriched my life with music and unforgettable memories. I would also like to express my gratitude to the band Steel Pulse for their incredible performance and inspiring music. This experience was a precious gift that I will cherish forever, thanks to my friend and Steel Pulse.
I Love Steel Pulse as they continue to sing and cry-out for the total liberation and unity of Afrikan people worldwide, Freedom is a must!!!🗣️🦁🗣️💥🗣️♥️🗣️🖤
Yall never miss. I love this album. Steel Pulse just keeps getting better and better. I especially love they way yall hit the "jah kingdom" on the chorus.
En reggae c’est vraiment les meilleurs je ne suis jamais déçu depuis que je les écoute et ça fait depuis longtemps. Merci stèle pulse pour ce merveilleux son
"The Final call" definately sounds real real good, i agree with me, myself and I and I that this one is my favorite on the Mass Manipulation album. if Ronald Mcqueen was on bass the groove might have been spicier but all the same the overall sound touches my soul. The lyrics and message is "straight up", David Hinds has the guts and the balls. i declare the name of the band be changed to "Still Balls" in stead of Steel Pulse, why? cos David Hinds still got the balls to say what has to be to be said. Steel Pulse still depon top.
@KoA + I definitely agree with you. 35 years on, but I still greatly miss Ronnie "Stepper" MacQueen, outstanding bassist, but very much underappreciated by many.

Forgot the reverb ?
There's always a little bit there. But too much is too much too.
The reverb, a trademark in reggae especially Dub, but I don't think it should be a mainstay.
N R this is 2019 bro. This is a more modern sound. Still amazing.
