Equal Rights brought together Peter Tosh's dedications to the revolutionary movements growing in Africa, and the mysticism and wonders of his personal growth as a prophet, poet, preacher and world-class musical trailblazer. The album included a number of songs that became human rights anthems over the next two decades: Get Up, Stand Up, Downpressor Man, African, Apartheid, and the title tune.

Downpressor man
Where you gonna run to
Downpressor man
Where you gonna run to
Downpressor man
Where you gonna run to
All along that day
You gonna run to the sea
But the sea will be boiling
When you run to the sea
The sea will be boiling
The sea will be boiling
All along that day
You gonna run to the rocks
The rocks will be melting Видеоклипы

Nunca envelheceram! É eterna!
I am born in 1950.
Last year i have visit jamaika
Together with my doughter Shanthi, mother from Sri lanka
When i met the locals i start to sing songs like that , Bob Marley and from all the others
I Covered my eyes behind the sunglass. Tears were running down behind.
It was the best journey in my live.
I had visit some other places in that whole wide world.
I am still a Hippie, but an old one.
But still the same and that's good.❤😂
Hold onto your hippie-hood.. we were from a generation that was unique. Generations who came before us didn't make it, and those after us just dropped the ball. Keep groovin'
2024 I'm listening this song with my brother Thapelo mphanya
Went to his childhood home many years ago. Met his momma. So gracious. His tomb is in front of the home. Sad but truly memorable experience. RIP Peter.....
I couldn't imagine..
❤❤❤
We need more conscious reggae in this complicated present ! We miss you Peter
I agree
If you are here in 2021 your going to be ok!!!!
Trevor Hall, Mike Love, Satsang, Nahko. They are all amazing. The most reggae-esque is Mike Love.
We need more conscious people period.
Say that again m brother
The "Stepping Razor" . During the dark days of apartheid in South Africa, these songs like "equal rights and justice" inspired, uplifted us, encouraged us, comforted. We took solace that other Blacks overseas knew and cared about our struggle against an oppressive regime. Other reggae songs too.
But nowadays!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What is happening in my country !!!
Oll
BLM= Boer Lives Matter
Bantus love Marxism
We have now had the United States of America completely destroyed and stolen from those who voted for the other guy another thing this is not about skin color it's about the human race being deceived by demons posing as humans of all colors
There was more to the game that eyes could see..
...Ours..not GOD'S!!..
Exactly what was predicted and what you were fighting for....
Peter Tosh was a ferocious beast musically! Everything he touched represents near perfection & has & continues to change this world for the better one mind at a time. There may have been equals but no one has ever been Better than PT, especially in this genre. To top it off he was also a spiritually beautiful human being. A beautiful beast! Marley & Tosh, their likes shall not be seen again. Thanks to The Most High that I was alive to see it all!
Downpresser man
Where you gonna run to
Downpresser man
Where you gonna run to
Downpresser man
Where you gonna run to
All along that day
You gonna run to the sea

I said, all along that day
So I said
Downpresser man
Where you gonna run to
I said, downpresser man
Where you gonna run to
I said, downpresser man
Where you gonna run to
All along that day
You drink your big champagne and laugh
You drink your big champagne and laugh
You drink your big champagne and laugh
All along that day
I wouldn't like to be a flea
Under your collar man
I wouldn't like to be a flea
Under your collar man
I wouldn't like to be a flea
Under your collar man
All along that day
You can run but you can't hide
You can run but you can't hide
You can run but you can't hide
Telling you all along that day
You gonna run to the law
Beggin' to hide you
You gonna run to the law
Beggin' to hide you
You gonna run to jah
Beggin' to hide you
All, all along that day
And I said downpresser man
Where you gonna run to
Where you gonna run to downpresser man
Where you gonna run to
I said all along
Along that day (downpresser man)
Downpresser man, downpresser man
Downpresser man, downpresser man
Wait, downpresser man
Where you gonna run to
Downpresser man
I don't know where you gonna run to
All along that day
Downpresser man
You can't run, you can't bribe jah-jah
Can't call him in a bar
Fe can drink some
Devil soup
Can't bribe him to run a car now
Can't test him faith
Downpresser man, don't, downpresser man
I said, downpresser man, don't run, downpresser man
Downpresser man, where you gonna run to
Downpresser man
You can't bribe no one
Them no want no money
Them run'f money
That money gets funny

Yeah I've always loved reage but I've been listening to alot of it lately
The time is upon us Pray for mercy for us all 🙏💙
Greetings from Jamaica...Peter Tosh was a true revolutionary. He sang from the heart.. This album takes me places. I prefer absolute solitude when I listen to this album (just want to be alone and be one with the music).... Equal Rights, a great album
Respect and blessings to all who are within earshot of this song..
am from Belize and lately found out that am roots from the legend ! Dennis Tosh gratefull to know that i came from a legend and his every song makes my heart beat and skip a beat... grateful to know why i love reggae music and especially my root my legend Peter Tosh
The whole system here in America from Wall st to D.C needs to hear this message from Peter Tosh.
I thought of this song when they said that the DUMBs were being cleared out..
They will
They won't hear but they Will feel

Our time is coming not a matter of if but when
This isn't just music it's something sacred with spiritual ingredients ❤🇿🇲🦋
For those of us over 60, Peter Tosh was the man. Jimmy Cliff opened the world's eyes, but Peter man, from the heart.
Ageist!
well said.
Right you are brother!! Bigger man than Marley in my eyes. 🌴 🇯🇲🌴
@@ironworker5792too many people are still suffering .
This album is almost a bible but legalise it is just a masterclass album i seriously don't know what I will be growing up without that album🇬🇭
@sweetpotato908; If I may add a few words to your great comment, I shall start by saying that you are an insightful person to describe Peter’s album as an eternal spiritual asset…
The fact is, Peter will forever remain #TheHighPriestOfReggae or as we say in Afrika, the Chief Priest. In our culture, a King without a Chief Priest is a King without spiritual fortification.
A lot of people do not recognize the Brotherly love he shared with Bob.
Peter was the high Priest who anointed Bob by teaching him how to play the guitar, which stimulated and unleashed the gifts of melody within him. He became King because he had the perfect High Priest.
Rest in Power; Great Sons of Afrika, born in Jamaica.
✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾🇯🇲❤🇬🇭✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾
@globalcetzen5271 my best albums are legalise it and bob uprising this 2 albums show us how spiritual this dudes where I know equal rights had mighty songs like I am that I am ,equal right and african but i think that Peter was at his best when he recorded legalise it the same with bob marley and his band the wailers when they did uprising Aston and carlton was unreal in that album.
This Album is obviously Inspired from the Bible.❤❤
One of my favorite reggae songs of all time . Awesome !
There's never been another King to Bless us....Long live PT a true soldier
Reminds me of how real the struggle is... Just remember god is good and he is always with us that keep the faih. 1 Love.. Jah forever!
That's some faith friend. Well done
Give a man the shivers child hood memories the black power days lots of good black music in the late 80s ..love from aboriginal Australia....

Peter Tosh is one of those people that got me through high school, back when I had to hide to listen to him, back when I had to hide to smoke a joint, back when I had to hide....from everything.... I love you man, see you soon....❤ Jah Be Good!
I was 17 years old in 1977. My world view expanded exponentially when I discovered Peter Tosh Equal Rights and Bob Marley Exodus albums.

I salute you Mr president of reggae.Your voice is still motivating me.You r still alive in my heart.May your soul rest in peace.
PETER WAS A MAN OF THE TRUTH,HE SAID AND SING WHAT OTHER DONT TRY TO SAY!! R.I.P. PETER MY FRIEND!!!!!
They killed him because he spoke the truth, I'm a white man , I got the message a long time ago, it's so relevant now with what's going on America, it makes me hurt for my country, I'm often embarrassed to be white
@@timjohnson8198 the revelation for my country South Africa. We had Lucky Dude who followed his steps and message but he was shot dead. RIP REGGAE MEN, YOUR MESSAGES ARE CLEAR.
they will all pay for their evil work
True word. Which was the big part of the split with his brothers
"Read it in Revelation! You'll find your redemption."
-Boby Marley
I used to listen to Peter and get high on mushrooms, lsd and ganja. Then I read the Bible and the words of prophecy. Read them and study them, they can set you free.
Incredibly powerful voice and an incisive mind that waged the war for freedom and justice for all mankind, and now lies a martyr...shall forever dwell in our grateful minds...
he had the most incredible voice. powerful!
And he wasn’t slack in the guitar department also. The best skanker in the business!
dar nelson so true it's mighty
strongest voice of them all
His voice is honest, vulnerable, and caring....but you hear the toughness and authenticity of the street and how hard the people his song are about have it.....
True dar nelson. He is a legend icon in reggae music till date
Wanna visit Jamaica to see where is Prophet is resting. Through Jah, it will happen 😊
This is the true definition of Reggae music no filter real rebellion uplifting Inspiring thought provoking. loving this music it will live on with every Generation until there is no Hate or injustice in this world this music will remain relevant …..I got it on repeat
There will Never be a time when there is no hate or injustice on earth, not before the last day anyway. To think otherwise is folly because you would have to control everyone on the planet and that is evil in itself.
The black legend of reggae
Yup...1st heard him in 1988 and still jammin him in 2023! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Arguably in the top 3 reggae songs of all time.

My fave version of this track is him live at the Greek theatre.
Much slower than his 1971 single (which I just listened to for first time). Both are great, but for me the groove in this album is irresistible.
