I respect William Cheung however, he should not attempt to show any form of ground techniques without an area of true expertise. He really needs to stay on the topic of his true skill.
Lol how would you know? Oh no ufc fights yup yeah ok. No one else is skilled in fighting with no rules involved unless it was filmed. So all them Samurai were fake and would lose to a ufc fighter. Bruh you have no martial arts ability. Your a joke. Hush
@@lordoffaiyum9727 I would never suggest that you do not have a Martial Arts background, nor should you post such an obtuse post towards me. I have actually had 3 very successful Wing Chun Schools as well as implemented Judo, Shoot Wrestling, Jiu Jitsu, Knife Fighting, and Police Tactics (I am a police and SWAT officer) .... from 1984 to present time. I've actually met Master Cheung in the 80s. As a proficient martial artist with over 44 years of experience, I have the credentials to make this observation and opinion....you sir are not qualified to make any form of an assessment if you think that this video gives any sound ground combative techniques. Please save yourself getting a "ground and pound" lesson by studying ground combatives from a qualified person. Peace be with you.
@@Weygandt he assumed you were an MMA HEAD. See... judging a book by well.... no evidence? 😂idk. I just think some of this looks dangerous. Trying to stop one hand on the inside is really bad. We never commit both hands to stop a hand inside. Crazy. I’m a GARY LAM WING CHUN person. I study him exclusively.
Exactly what he's doing, a demonstration is meant to be slow if he was trying to hit him it would of happened full speed unless you've tried it you won't understand, he's doing this to show people how its done and to do that he needs to do it slow so.he can explain the detail and you can see the technique
Wing chun is OK, the whole art is to get into a position like 1:47 when the opponents just hangs in the air his arms and let them be trapped. All this theory is about self protection against unskilled opponents. So on the street fighting single drunk opponents Wing chun will be highly effective. Not so on the ring or in the cage against skillful opponents which strikes take a blink of an eye. I am waiting to see someone who will put those techniques in actual sporting competition. My criteria that a technique that is not battle tested (cannot be executed in an MMA fight) is not worth investing your time and muscle memory. As you know muscle memory under stress is very limited and you can truly rely on few things. Actually I saw one MMA wing chun that was a disaster for the wing chun, he got totally confused all this theory did not work, he protected the center theory, but the mma got a swing arround it and he got NK. ruclips.net/video/hyElQ4l48ek/видео.html
The concept and theory within the movement is sound and effective. Wing Chun is best described as a complete system. William Cheung also uses touch reflexes or sensitivity and positioning and combined with the ability to interrupt his own movements are basic fundamentals of this particular technique. I perceive the action can be pondered and practised and once the concept is understood it allows one to counter and strike automatically against any opponent.
@@scotty1404 It is taught as self defense system not a sport. It will fail miserably against a trained western boxer. or jiujitsu grappler. I do not say that theoretically it cannot become one. But there is a need for a martial artist talent to make it and defend it on the mma ring.
It's a technique demonstration. A decent wing chun front punch to the right target will be devastating and usually it's not just one but about 3 or 4 rolling.
Been in mad street fights. Never seen any leg tackles. Never. Seen guys head kicked in on the ground though. Many times. Have never seen much time on ground wrestling cause when people go down big danger in street fight if u dont rise fast. Stfu

Yes, but what do you do if someone is actually trying to hit you (unlike these guys)?
