My wife and I are the owners and contractors of the treehouse. I see some comments about costs. It is an inexpensive 600 square foot house; it costs so much because our county threw so many hurdles at us that before we could even begin to build, we had spent 10's of thousands of dollars. Also, I am not a craftsman myself and a lot of labor went into that house. It was cheap to mill the wood (which was my contribution to the work) but expensive to shape it and install it. If I were a younger man and/or a craftsman myself, it would've been way less expensive. As to 'rich people thinking they are poor...' I recognize that in comparison to most of the world we are rich. However, when we started this journey, we couldn't really afford to go out to eat dinner. My wife can pinch quarters out of nickels and so we didn't starve and had a fairly comfortable life, expect always keeping track of finances. The way we afforded this treehouse was that we vacated the house we built (on the same property) and started to short term rent that house. Then we lived here and there including our 120 square foot, no bathroom, small treehouse or lived in small cabins as we managed them, all the while we poured every penny we could into the treehouse. It was an adventurous 3-4 years. We had to give up everything else in our lives but work and family to create this little bit of Heaven on Earth. Thanks for watching and sharing about this dream.

Super cool I actually think a couple of my friends managed that property... Also I'm all confused on the 300 grand I've been a woodworker for 20 years and if you got your own mill and doing your own lumber I would think it would be more like 60 grand but Hey I don't know if you're adding in the property about it the power the water everything running meters I was just talking about more the material labor...that's just me and you did it years ago when lumber was cheaper and materials...

300k built from mostly forest lumber?

Yeah, it's a lot. I just figured maybe they included the price of the lot, which must've cost a fortune in and of itself with that view. I liked how he added; "You don't have to have money(...)", at the end, but I'm betting those 350K sure was convenient at the time, where they spent it all. :P

@@rustyrnds I bet they charge a lot of money for even just a weekend in that place.
I saw another couple that a treehouse as a hotel/B&B like these people. It was very expensive, about $2000 or more for a weekend. I can't remember that exact number, but it was something I could never afford. If go on a holiday for that much I am not staying in a treehouse!
They had a building, closer to their house, for showering and a toilet if I remember correctly. There was a chamber pot for nighttime in the treehouse?something like that. There was no way I was going down all those stairs and across the yard to go to the bathroom and to shower. I want to say getting water high enough into the tree was really expensive? It was much higher priced than this one and they were constantly booked. 🤷‍♀️
I guess if you are rich you will pay a ton of money for a "unique" experience?

Wow, beautiful house! I can see why it cost so much. But what's the life expectancy of those trees? And what happens to the $300k house when they start dying?
