Fabulous presentation.
Thank you for posting this
Lenny was amazing. He is never considered or ever mentioned on the supposed best all time guitarist lists. None of the big youtube guitar gurus ever make mention of him. Especially the biggest name on youtube. But those who know guitar and appreciate the craft know who Lenny was. One of the best kept secrets hiding in plain sight.
That’s because Lenny was an academic player. Listen to his don’t think twice. who the hell wants to listen to that? It’s brilliant but you can’t dance to it. You can’t whistle it. You can’t hum it. It is interesting only to music theorists and guitarists. Ted Greene. Same deal.
Most people want to listen to the music that was written, I’ll be it with embellishments. They don’t want to listen to something that uses what they want to listen to as just an ingredient, a stepping off place. That’s what made Chet Atkins so popular. He went about as far as you can go and still sell records. And that is not a dig. He was a brilliant player and arranger. Nothing sounded strange. The music came to you. It bathed you. You did not have to go to it. Your brow did not furrow. You smiled.
Some of us like it…a lot. I like pop music, but I also like music that takes real skill to make.
Again i have to thank you for posting this.
Lenny was a musical genius! He was a one of a kind once in a lifetime talent! Im a guitar player who loves and appreciates all styles of guitar, but, Lenny was on a whole other planet! He was a great human being as well, but like most musical geniuses he couldn’t lead a normal life like you or I. Very sad he passed away at such a young age, he had so much more to show us. Im just saying when you have Chet Atkins in awe of your playing, you’re a certified guitar picker! I really think lenny was truly the greatest guitar player ever.
The reason he couldn't lead a normal life was cause he got into drugs!
@@ES175jazz drugs did play a part, but he was wired differently the most of us! You have to be, to be as dedicated to the guitar as he was. He related more to the instrument than the outside world.
He didn't pass away, he was murdered.
@@ES175jazzI'm not trying to be argumentative here..but I have to say that Lenny got into drugs because he couldn't live a normal life..make no mistake..
@@cliffbungalow9373indeed he was murdered.
They say it was his wife, but she was released for lack of evidence.
Lenny met her through Chet.
This is the best explanation of Lenny's sound I have found anywhere.
Wow what an incredible breakdown of Lenny/s style! Great video!
Thank you for sharing! I have a copy on VHS but, it's not the greatest shape, which is an understatement! AGAIN...
Thank YOU, THANK you, THANK YOU!!!!!
This has made my day!
this is just beautiful , inspiring , you name it and not enough people have even heard of him at all…… damn shame…. thank you for this , god bless Lenny!
Wow ...
This person is such a great player, and teacher.
Thank you for posting.
Absolutely subbed.
Thank you.
awesome lesson on some of the most hardest techniques ever developed by the man...Lenny!!! million thanks for posting this!
Your welcome!!
❤wow, one of the best if not the best instructional videos I’ve ever seen!
I recently watched a video with Lenny explaining his harp harmonics which was very informative. Between you two my playing has improved and am enjoying discovering new (old) ideas. Thanks!
Thanks so much for this priceless post! Awesome material and a wonderful tribute to Lenny!🙏🏻🙏🏻
You do justice to Lenny's unique technique and style. Bravo!
Such a wonderful instructional video. Thanks for sharing
What an exposition! I knew many of these concepts but the specialty chords were a real treat - so Lenny-like to me.
Paul met Lenny at the Folklore Center in Ottawa and did an interview. I have a copy of the whole thing on a CD that Paul gave me.
@mr halvi You should post the interview on your RUclips channel! Please do so! Any interviews or material featuring Lenny is so hard to come by, I would be grateful if you would upload it. Thanks!
-Nick
@@viciousdope66 This interview was given by Paul Bordeau my music teacher it's only on a VHS there is no video it's blacked out but you can follow what Lenny is saying and doing as he explains his style of playing. This was in the mid-70s. it took place at the Ottawa Folklore Center.
Lenny Breau was a god amongst men. I advise anyone interested in Lenny, his music and his legacy, to got out and get a copy of the biographical book about him. I have it somewhere in my collection (I don’t recall the name right off-hand). The book gave me loads of insight into this man. He was a true revolutionary!
You are a pretty amazing musician all by yourself sir.
Beautiful playing at the beginning of this video
Thanks for listening
I can tell you are a great teacher. Thanks !
I just got turned on to this technique, transcribed some examples from a video where Lenny explains it a bit, and I now came across this video. Excellent and thank you for posting.
Thank you so much for posting this! I think this is Paul’s lesson from back in the day he’s an amazing teacher and student of Lenny Breau this is so rare it should be in every major bookstore on the planet thank you for this and I am seeking to buy the entire series with the PDF etc. it is Absolutely worth it’s weight in musical gold thanks a million for this‼️‼️‼️🙏🏾🙏🏾🎸🎸👌🏾👌🏾👍🏾👍🏾
You're very welcome!
ES175jazz do you know if there’s a pdf available to this course?
@@MultiGuitarteacher I don't think anything is available as far as I know but you can use a software called Transcribe! and there is a way to get the video on Transcribe and loop it, slow it down, etc.
It's an out of print video that I believe was originally on VHS - I don't know if it ever got onto DVD. Anyway, based on the review I found it did have a booklet included that had guitar tablature. It may be quite hard to find that anywhere; so your only option may be to transcribe - obviously somewhat assisted by the visual aspect of the video as well as the audio.
@@WVNicholson “loop to learn” app,$3.00, way easier than “transcribe,” program.
Thank you to ease our understanding in the study of guitar and thank you for sharing.
My pleasure!
omg this is so amazing... thank you so much for posting this please never delete it

Awesome! Thank you!
Very useful!
your guitar looks and sounds great
It's a pity this video/ DVD is out of print - I can't find it used anywhere. It's nice to be able to watch it here; but I would like to get the booklet that came with it (either in a hard copy or electronic form).
yeah !Thanks !!
Sensacional!! Obrigado!
Wow, thanks!
THANK YOU
I was on a sailboat in the Caribbean with a guy who had just been released from a mental institution. One night we were sitting in the cockpit of his sailboat playing guitars. I’ve never seen this guy before. I think I played Freight Train. He played it every note harmonics. This is 30 years ago. I don’t know when Lenny Bro invented this stuff but if it wasn’t 30 years ago, he didn’t invent it.
Harmonics are over 500 years old on the guitar. He didn't invent it he just utilized them to the max.
Lenny Breau died in a murder in 1984 and had a long music career before his death; so he certainly was before your guy 30 years ago.
Good job . bravo
👏👏👏👏👏

Welcome aboard!
Hi Paul it's been a while, please post some lessons of Boy Wonder the country stuff.
Great lesson , thanks , by the way, is your guitar a Guild aristocrat ?
Paul, if you do workshops, then please let us know how to subscribe and follow your teaching activity, if possible. 👍🎸
Great lesson! Who is this guy?
The instructor's name is Paul Bordeaux, a Canadian college professor. He met with Lenny and sponsored a workshop with him in the early '80s. I think he does a great job of breaking this stuff down.
Paul Bordeau
How about some props to Tarrega who did absolutely everything Lenny did with Harmonics on an acoustic and several decades earlier ?
Ah myths ! So lenny was the first to play guitar self accompanied. What absolute tosh. This is how dark ages start.
Not able to understand the difference in task between effective transposition of harmonic devices and composing for the classical guitar? Shame.
Did he improvise with them over standards?!?
I think lenny breau it could happen to you arrangement should be teach as base of his style There's many different progression and his approach of comping at same it
does anybody know what kind of guild guitar that is?
I think a Guild maybe? Hard to tell
M75 aristocrat?
Do you, or anyone have the booklet or tab for the examples on the video, please?
I don't but you can use Transcribe! software to slow it down and loop the sections you want to work on.
yes, I do
@@mrhalvi are you able to share a scan pdf at all, please?
@@tmladenovic5780 scan a pdf, sorry, I'm old school what I will do is transfer the VHS video to Cd and download it to my hard drive and I'll post it. But I need the ok from Paul. It would be a lot easier just to send it to you, It's way out of my league I don't use it. I have the booklet and the tape.
This was all laid out on paper by John Knowles and Lenny himself dude.
