- This AE92 Toyota Corolla GLi Twincam 16 belongs to the founder of @twincamfanclub up in Johannesburg. Someone who shares the same passion for the twincam platform that I do. It's an executive model with the rare (I've only seen two so far) sunroof option.
Under the hood is the 4A-GE 16V with 20valve throttles from the AE111 and inside the head is a set of 272 degree camshafts. All this is mapped in with a management system and this car even has 2 step activated via a button.

@@akeelhassanvideo It is a GLX AE92 and currently have the standard 4AF carburetor engine in at the moment but will be slapping in a 4AGE red top after the paint is completed. Also sticking with the factory colour it came with (BALI SEAS 40999).
@@cameronbatt3399 that's a cool base to start with. You need to convert your fuel tank to a fuel injected tank and then the 4afe gearbox has longer ratios, you don't need to look at changing the whole box, but if you can, a c56 box will have some shorter ratios.
reminds me of my fathers gl ke70..those times will never be forgetton!

Put some flavor into the engine bay. 😎😎😎😁😁😁. I'll gladly advise, some cams 264 degree, uprated valves, redo the exhaust system and fresh racing plugs. 👌

@@akeelhassanvideo yes got reason those old car more sensible corrosion the cars now have better protection with that problems & the winter are not the same no many snow ,we have winter with more rain more hot today + 10 degrees celcius
@@lolicool6920 I'm glad the conditions are better now so that there's an opportunity to preserve the cars. Europe did get some cool Toyota's as well especially the Toyota Corolla Compressor, which we have as the Toyota Runx here but we never got a supercharged version.

Hi Akeel, are these cars worth buying on 2023? And which approximately what would be a good mileage for this vehicle?
Good question, if you can find a neat one, they go for anything from R65k upwards. Decent mileage it's hard to say but most will be well over 250 000kms now.

Hey man, firstly where are based and are you talking about the black slimline rubber Cressida lip or the Twincam two-piece lip?
@@akeelhassanvideo the front bumper rubber lip for ae92. I'm in NZ
@@cameronbatt3399 So the rubber lip is called a Cressida Lip. It was a South African only thing so I really doubt you'll get it there. Another option is to give the flexible EEZI-lip a try which can be bought on amazon, ebay etc. Even wish I think.

twincam is great but its slow
It is a bit old yes hence the reason for it not being the fastest anymore. It is fun in a safe way though.
i guess its great for the looks, the sound and a collection piece but i feel personally it needs a lil more power. VVT swap would really bring out that 80s sense of power and speed. Overall the EE and AE series are amazing till this time
@@mrdevilish1056 people nowadays have moved to dropping a 3s-ge engine into these cars as well as the 2ZZ-GE engine from the sportivo/runx. A very versatile platform still yes. Highly agree with you on that. Keep coming back for more videos 😁👏
