1:53:07 that part is actually literal in tolkien & the earth is still flat for elves allowing them to sail into west as well as see farther than other races
Yes, but that requires the volcano to be fairly well sealed or the way out obstructed, so that the steam building up cannot escape fast enough. I'll talk about the Mount Doom shenanigans in more detail in the second part though.
@@ACrowingCockatrice the volcano is just pure nonsense, fom how the eruption is triggered to how eruption dose next to nothing to the carethers wile destroying buildings, you could have at least solved the first problem by just making it so the sword directly triggered the eruption with magic
@@happynihilist2573 I cannot fathom how the decision that all the magic MacGuffin sword that drinks blood does is opening a dam got approved. It could have been replaced with a lever. You don't want your special magic artefact to be as useful as a sharpened lever.
Well... I have already completed well over one hour of the next part, but the project kind of got out of hand. I am now staring at a potentially 3-hour monstrosity. I can hopefully release it in three weeks. Sorry for the long wait, but there is a lot left to say.
I get your decision to review it on it's own merits and not compare it too much to either Tolkien's works or peter Jackson's movies but such comparisons are frankly understandable the series clearly is trying to cash in on the influence of both
I think you missed that he's kicked out of all dwarven lands if he forfeits, which means giving up. The punishment is not about losing its about chickening out.
Well, he does actually forfeit. I'm not sure you can lose this by any other means than giving up, save maybe for passing out from exhaustion. There is no limit on how many times you can try to break a rock, at least none is stated. There is one rock that we can see not getting crushed by Elrond on the first try, and he wasn't disqualified for it. So in this sense, there is no appreciable difference between losing and giving up. Also, the scene is immediately followed by Durin escorting Elrond out of dwarven lands due to his loss, but Elrond manipulates him before he is exiled for good.
Brilliant work, though I don't think the show deserves it. One more off-note that struck me is when Largo, Nori's father, notices her pulling on her top: "Find them by the riverbank did ye?" It's in the transcripts somewhere. Unfortunately these are becoming hard to find
Ah, always nice to have good longform content braking down garbage like this
Thanks loud dragon chicken

A note about the volcanic eruption - the is actually a phenomenon called hydrovolcanism

Rewatching tis I have to say, you deserve more views
Loved part 1, any ETA on part 2?

Well, you sure appeal to a very niche audience. But I'm glad you are here to make us think about points otherwise tend to fly over our heads.

45:13 idk those skin tones look reasonably similar to me
An almost 2 hour video????
So you officially spent longer making this video than the rings of power showrunners did actually writing the show

You mean when she's bringing back the snails after sneaking out to raid the berries? He is quite lenient with her shenanigans.
@@ACrowingCockatrice I don't think he's talking about snails
