How hard was it? I’ve played it here and there and I suck at it. Never even got past the first dungeon. I’m going to attempt to beat it though as I just beat the first game and plan on playing them all in order.
@@Rumblefan I looked up a video walkthrough and beat it about 13 years ago. It really helps if you can see the combat and you have the right controller . I used a Wii mote and beat it on the Wii Virtual Console.
@@gil3424 yeah I’ve already had to do that once I ran into that knight guy on level 1 who stabs you from below and above. Saw that you have to jump and hit him. I’m playing with the nes controller on the original console.
Another excellent run by Arcus! I always enjoy the lyrics being added to the old-school sound effect jingles. All of his runs are like being a little kid watching an older brother play just whip through games with the skill you wished had then.
Yeah I didn’t expect him to still be humming over an hour into the game. Lol I hum the first five minutes and then I’m trying to concentrate too hard and yell whenever I die 😂
Man what a nostalgia trip. This game was the first game I ever bought, using birthday money after getting the NES set for that birthday, and I played it so much I ended up with a corrupted game cartridge. I still run this on the NES online thing the switch offers.
Zelda 2 was very different but honestly I think it was a better game than the first just in terms of sheer fun. Design wise? Maybe not - the first game gave way to the formula we know now But Zelda 2 was just more fun to play and combat was better IMO
When will Nintendo remake that game ? I've been dreaming for years about a remake of that game. Imagine a remake in the style of "Vigil: The Longest Night". Just look up that game (Vigil: The Longest Night). And imagine a Zelda 2 remake in that style.
I hated this game when I was like 8 years old because it wasn’t like Zelda 1. When I tried it again in my 20’s I fell in love with it and beat it a couple times. I love that it’s an rpg style.
I played both the original Zelda and Zelda II when I was a kid. I liked them both, and never minded the side-scrolling aspect of Zelda II. It was only many years later, that I learned Zelda II wasn’t that well received, or at least had mixed reactions because not everyone liked the side scrolling aspect.
This is great because I have finally given this game a fair fresh start and am going at it seriously for the first time. I will make sure to sing, "we lit the hot sauce on fire" as I play!
Back in 90, we didn't have fancy online stuff. we had a TV and fingered it out for our selves sometimes paying a Nintendo Power subscription and hope the next issue will have something useful.
That was always thought to be an actual error in the game but actually wasnt. Theres another guy named Bagu which means bug...It seems it was a joke Error and Bug...tech problems
Hey Arcus been watching your channel for while and enjoy your calm and focused game play. Just wondering when did you start speed running .anyways thanks for your video's.
Why didn't you just select - reset after dungeon 2? Would've probably saved time to shield town vs wading through swamp. Or is that not permitted in this run?
He did that after obtaining several special objects. Ordinarily, Link will stand there with the item he found lifted over his head. When he's like that, you're frozen and you can't move him. I think he's casting fairy as he picks up the item because he can save a precious second since the Fairy is not frozen in position like that on item pick-up.
Watching your speedruns helped me beat this game for the first time last week. 👍🏼
Hats off! One of the hardest damn games I've ever played.
Me too

"Found a small doll of myself" had me crying. This is what I needed right now
Very sinister in a way....
Hot dog floatation device also did me in...
Arcus speedrunning a 35 year old game, still enjoys the music by humming along the melody. Amazing.
Yeah I didn’t expect him to still be humming over an hour into the game. Lol I hum the first five minutes and then I’m trying to concentrate too hard and yell whenever I die 😂

Nice. My 'buy it with bday money' game was Simon's Quest. Guess you and me pick the dark horses. lol
That first part in the cave was sick! Nicely done Arcus!
I love you adlibbed tunes.
"We got the trophy first place!"🤣
That's a heckin' run on Zelda 2 there bud. Good stuff!
Arcus is chill af, I love it. Really helps me wind down. Bless you, sir.
Holy shit!!! Finally some AoL! Love your channel, buddy!! Keep rocking
Fantastic run Arcus! Your chill demeanor is super refreshing and your skills are awesome!
Annnnd, clunk. I've always loved this 8 bit masterpiece. One of my favorite Zelda Adventures.
So glad I got to see this live. Great job Arcus!
I think the old gamer movie The Wizard should be the canon backstory for Arcus.
Watching you play is so nice, Arcus. You're always so chill. Also, GGs. Congrats on the PB.
Arcus, you just gained a new subscriber. Looking forward to browsing your library of kick-buttNES
Be careful. I heard Arcus is really fast. He has the guts to play for blood!
Reset…smash..mash…mash…annnddd..klunk - Arcus 🤠 👢 👢

You make things look so much easier then what they are lots of practice to member all that

I really enjoyed watching this. Loved the little songs along the way.
9 Days Later: This PB is Already Obsolete Twice. GG Arcus!
This is great because I have finally given this game a fair fresh start and am going at it seriously for the first time. I will make sure to sing, "we lit the hot sauce on fire" as I play!
Love your speedruns Arcus!
THE GOAT 🐐
00:37 Sounds like the kinda thing you'd need to wear to make it through some of these speedruns
This was the game that taught you as a kid that games read your freaking inputs 😓
The most satisfying speedrunner running one of the most satisfying speedrun games?
Yes to Zelda 2 content!
Unreal athlete
Talk about enlightening. I've never tried speed running this but now I do have ideas on how to make it quicker and easier
Back in 90, we didn't have fancy online stuff. we had a TV and fingered it out for our selves sometimes paying a Nintendo Power subscription and hope the next issue will have something useful.
Something about a cowboy playing Nintendo games I find so fascinating! Grats on a new personal best!
This game is sick when optimised. WTH with death mountain so early?? (From a balance standpoint)
Love all the little songs!! So funny! But my favorite is “And … cluck”. 😂
I AM ERROR
You’re still good enough don’t worry
That was always thought to be an actual error in the game but actually wasnt. Theres another guy named Bagu which means bug...It seems it was a joke Error and Bug...tech problems
By far the best always so calm and cool 😎
Always loved the music in this one
Best song: 🎶moo. that was a good moo, a strong moo, we brought the cows home🎶
maybe it's just me, but I remember it taking me days of dying an replaying the levels in order to get through this game as a kid
i never knew the lyrics to this games music until today... thank you
The most impressive thing about this run is the guys mustache. Don't get me wrong, I'm not dissing the run, but damn that mustache is glorious.
yeah
Your playing is beautiful!
Your combat skills have really improved, and they were already impressive! If I had a better sword, I'd let you have it.
Hey Arcus been watching your channel for while and enjoy your calm and focused game play. Just wondering when did you start speed running .anyways thanks for your video's.
Best Zelda sound track , just my opinion
Love the zelda 2 love.
Speaking of number 2, you ever gonna do a legend of zelda 2nd quest speedrun?
nice P.B ...you make this game look easy.
Brilliant run mate!
Thanks for this! 🎉🎉
47:28 moooooo. That was a good moo. A strong moo. We brought the cows home! WTF!?!? 😂😂😂😂
Haboula
Into the lagoon I go. That's 5 snackaroos. This guy says the funniest 💩
Best speed runner ever
Conglaturations!
You need to make t-shirts of you saying "Aaand clunk, thats a good clunk."!!
It was so depressing getting this game as a kid with zero help, I eventually gave up, I could never figure out where to go😢
is this a 100% run? I am just curious why you grab the 1 ups (besides the song you've created for my entertainment lol)
100% all keys, 1cc
Wow great memories of a super good game
❤️
It’s dangerous to go alone
“ that was a good move a StronG MovE ! “
Good clunk and mash let's go boy oz
Congrats on the PB!
I'm here for all of the clunks. Those were good clunks.
Yeah💚
Your display picture reminds me of the icecream here in Australia called "Buffalo Bill".
Nice run man, good nostalgia :)
Somebody lit the hot sauce on fire.
This was fire.
Great game Arcus. Love ur Zelda runs most. Why did you move to WA?
Amazing. You are the best player nes of the World😁
I wonder if Arcus plays on emulator or real hardware? Not that there is anything wrong with emulation, I am just curious on how is timer is linked.
He plays on an nes cart with roms
Clunk....annnd it's a good clunk....awe, I adored that sooooooo much
Крутой чувак, давно смотрю
Awesome 😊
Am i imagine things or did Battle of Olympus recycled same villagers?
Would make sense since it's basicly a Zelda 2 clone(a good clone game still).
Well, I wish my catheder bags gave me experience points! I'd be God tier!
@Arcus, is Fairy Feet allowed in this category? I see you didn’t do it anywhere, just wondering for when I start running this category. Thank you!
make it look easy! GG
After 20min he was already farther in the game that i've never been
Mash mash mash, clunk! Awesome!!!
The best Zelda game
I 69'd with Arcus in college, and all I can remember thinking was how big his feet were.
Why didn't you just select - reset after dungeon 2? Would've probably saved time to shield town vs wading through swamp. Or is that not permitted in this run?
This game is pretty fun
Do you have all the dungeons memorized or do you use some kind of map?
Congrats
Why do you cast Reflect on Thunderbird?
What a run!!!!!
Awesome!
Have not had a good zelda2 clunk in quite awhile
What was the reasoning behind using fairy immediately after acquiring the raft?
He did that after obtaining several special objects. Ordinarily, Link will stand there with the item he found lifted over his head. When he's like that, you're frozen and you can't move him.
I think he's casting fairy as he picks up the item because he can save a precious second since the Fairy is not frozen in position like that on item pick-up.
I already watched a video of you with batman on nes you finished the game in 15 minutes 🎮😮
arcusHUA
Level 5 was bar none the most frustrating thing to a 7 year old.
I was there. LETS GOOO
1:08:02 😇💪🐮
How in Tarnation is anyone supposed to figure out this screwed up puzzle without video guides?!?!
Repetition over the course of an entire childhood
GG! :D
👍😁
*Cowboy Boots Two For One Sale*
I feel like you’ve played this before.
