I gotta give props to Cinematography. 0:09 to 0:35 The incandescent glow around Charlotte and Alexander as he arrives is pure poetry. Not to mention that sweet and adolescent smile upon Charlotte's face is hard to mistake. ☺️💗
I'm very late to the game (watched the whole series Sep 2024). So wonderful. I can't help but feel that Charlotte is still angry at Xander even a couple months later. So it's amusing to see her still smile at him from afar after a while. They are just so hopelessly in love and really mis-connecting, but still can't help themselves from eyeing each other. I think they both fell in love the night of first ball they were at together. I'll never know how the heck Xander could bring himself to push Charlotte away, considering how much he felt for her.
I love this scene. The glow of the candles around Xander when she first sees him enter the ballroom. Charlotte's heart is beating out of her chest. Augusta..smooth move. And those interruptions...Lady Montrose, tell us how is Mr. Colbourne so famous? Ralph... I must say that this scene showed Alexander's growth. When he found out she was engaged, last season he would have stormed off, grabbed Augusta, and left. This time he stayed. Used the governess excuse to cover what he really wanted to say, and stayed around to observe. The dance scene was awkward...but his comment about Ralph being worthy of her is from Sense and sensibility. Brandon makes a similar comment about Willoughby .
I'm sure Mr.C did not intend to propose her when he was interrupted suddenly. I suppose he would choose a more private, more intimate occasion for that. I think he wanted to say how he missed and needed her not as a governess but as a woman.
If only he hadn't been interrupted each time, but then we wouldn't have had the entire season! Although I wonder whether he was lying about asking her to come back as the girls' governess. I think he said it to save face. Yet, I think Charlotte might have believed it.
Ralph interrupted Xander; asking Charlotte if she would return to resume working for Xander was an excuse. I don’t believe he had her position as governess in mind.
I think she believed it as well - I think he mentioned governess as being polite and not having Ralph inquire as to why he was talking to Charlotte. Her response to governess in the dance scene is she is annoyed - that is all he thinks of her is in this role. At the end of Season 2 - I think Alexander came to the Parkers to propose marriage. Herrick place is a metaphor for Alexander.
@@renolittle4950 I am sure Xander was thinking of apologizing and proposing marriage or courtship leading to marriage but he couldn't very well say that to Ralph. Sigh.

Merci.
I am glad that we are talking about this scene. It's beautiful, but it IS difficult to watch, in ways. Alexander to Charlotte: "I was hoping that we might have the chance to speak." YES, ALL OF US HERE WERE WISHING THE SAME FOR BOTH OF YOU !!!! I WILL say this: Ralph was correct when he said in the presence of Charlotte & Alexander: "Thank you, Sir. But I interrupted." Note to Ralph: YOU SURE DID !!! But I know we WILL be rewarded in future scenes when Charlotte & Alexander share some dear words together, and Ralph will NOT be there -- YAY !!!! ❤😄❤
Xander looks a bit angry when he walks away after meeting Ralph. He has himself to thank for pushing Charlotte away. His head nod when he first sees Charlotte is to die for tho. If I were her, I'd say adios to farmer Ralph asap!!
Any idea where can I see this online? I don't have a US credit card, so couldn't rent it on Amazon. I do not want to sign up to a new subscribtion, but really want to see it! I watched the other two seasons, need to see it through. 😅
"You have proven to be quite irreplaceable, Miss Heywood." He said everything with that one sentence.
Poor Xander trying to say what he should have said months ago
I have rewatched this scene now. Augusta asking "and you uncle" regarding suitors is funny. Xander's face.
The looks, the longing. 💖
These two burning for each other ❤

And the music to boot, just perfection.
Loving your cuts. Everytime I see Charlotte introducing Mr. C to Ralph I remember Loina's memes and laugh. Every time!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Aww...So wonderful. Finally, I understand all dialogs. Many thanks for the german subtitle :-) These scences are so heartbreaking...
Xander was about to tell Charlotte the house misses her 😂😂
Pretty sure he’d learned his lesson on that one! 😂❤️
Perhaps Hannibal misses Charlotte, she did earn his respect 😄
@@karenshurley4793Luna misses her too!! All analogies for him 😊❤
Don’t forget that the locket instrument (i can’t remember the name of it right now) also misses her too.

Mr Colbourne probably has made money in business and has shown up on societies' radar.
