i don't really know, but i personally thought this song was about the conflicting feelings of wanting to give up on your dreams because of how difficult things have grown to be, but also wanting to persevere and keep working at it

I see it as that, but also as someone who feels like they're a burden on their friend for their constant search for identity (and the confusion and pain/clinginess it leads to) and is just wanting to stay in the moment with them, despite knowing they'll hurt that friend again eventually
