I play public courses. Sand traps on those courses commonly have a 1/8th inch veneer of sand with hard packed clay underneath. I play a 58 with 8° of bounce because a lot of the time I'm "chipping" out of the sand to keep from skipping the sole off the hard packed clay and skulling it over the green. If I have sand, I can still play a regular sand shot with the 8° of bounce.
Yeah. I use my low bounce 58 out of hard sand, especially if there's hard ground underneath, or wet sand, which I get a lot in spring and fall where I play. I use a conventional 56 sand wedge for regular or softer sand. I also have a wide sole 55 that I put in my bag sometimes instead of the 58 if it's all really soft sand, and I have a lot of rough to deal with around the greens. I find that gets the ball out of there nicely. But take that for what it's worth from me. I'm no brilliant wedge player.
I love it when they talk like friends and talk about what they can do and not sure of.
It is very nice to see the players interact. You have 3 of my favorite players with you. So very jealous.
