  • Edited reaction to The Golden Girls (1985) - S2:E17 - Bedtime Story | Canadian Reaction | TV Commentary.
We are back with another THE GOLDEN GIRLS REACTION. Today, we are watching Bedtime Story. In this episode, the girls realize that they invited guests to stay over their house at the same time. This leads to discussions on how to accommodate their upcoming guests. The discussion subsequently leads to them recalling other unusual sleeping arrangements they've had to endure. This show is full of laughter as always!
The Golden Girls is an amazing AMERICAN SITCOM that follows four older ladies living in a house together and their shenanigans.
This is not a substitute for the original material. In Canada, you can enjoy the tv show on Disney+.

the scene when Dorothy, hid Rose's food in Sophia's purse, is hilarious.
also, Dorothy destroyed the train station guy with: 'don't you have a cousin, you should be dating?' 😂🤣

Ok, time to dispell some rumors. Bea Arthur (Dorothy) was a very introverted and private person. Betty White (Rose) was a very extroverted crowd pleaser. They clashed but they still cared about each other. The rumor comes from lines from interviews taken out of context. Bea and Rue (Blanche) worked together on Maude and Rue is the one who convinced Bea to take the role of Dorothy after she initially turned down the role. Betty and Rue grew close with as many scenes as they had together. Bea and Estelle (Sophia) also had a lot of scenes together and they grew especially close. Estelle passed from Lewy Bodies Dementia and in later seasons she was having so much trouble remembering some lines that they'd hide her script in places like the oven or behind the sofa. She still gets the job done but there is a lot of history behind the girls. Estelle was also primarily a stage actress alongside Bea so their perfomance styles meshed well. Betty has always been a television and radio personality so her more bubbly and "loud" persona definitely would've rubbed Bea who was very professional and quiet the wrong way but you can see in bloopers and behind the scenes footage that if Bea truly hated Betty, she wouldn't have been nearly as affectionate to her as she was shown when not filming. I'm very passionate about this series so if I can help dispel rumors, I will gladly do so.
About this episode, this is one of the clip show style episodes that the writers would throw together when they struggled to put a solid plot together before they had to start production of an episode. They aren't super common but they are a reoccurrence at least once a season. They're not bad but you can defitiely tell they were stitched together from separate plotlines.

She should watch the Lifetime Intimate Portraits of the 4 ladies.

Dorothy's Uncle Vito must have been her father's brother because Sophia didn't seem interested in his visit whatsoever. 😂

Sophia and Dorothy had an amazing bond. Their dynamic with each other, be it moments of love or even fights, really made the show even better.

The actresses that played Dorothy & Rose were the ones that didn’t like each other but the rest were ok and got along with both, Rose (Betty White) and Dorothy (Bea Arthur).
Betty white did speak up about it and said she didn’t really know why Bea Arthur didn’t like her.
It has been said in docs that Bea comes from a theater background and she likes to stay in character through out the filming of every episode.
Betty white would break character in between tapes, commercials and make jokes and Bea disliked that. Also she disliked and didn’t believe that someone could be so cheerful and happy all the time (which Betty White was).
So in a way both, Bea (Dorothy) and Betty (Rose) were in a way similar to their characters.
I can understand both Bea & Betty I can be like both of them at times. I can’t stand a happy all the time positive person but at the same time I can be one lol
It is a shame but these two ladies were Professionals! You could have never known the dislike of Bea Arthur for Betty White.
I love all of them equally, May all of them R.I.P❤
    Our beautiful Golden Girls💛

Opine and Aunt Bee were characters in the Andy Griffith Show and both appeared in Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C. I remember the nights I would sleep in my mother’s bed.

See I do not get why those two could not get along, I am a lot like Bea Arthur but I love Betty White way better, guess because I hate myself a lot, I would wanna be more like Betty then Bea.
