That's why she is called the queen of hip hop soul. A lot of her music is based on hip hop principles, samples, break beats what have you. You got stop harping on the sampling Diddy has done.

Uptown Records was the label that founded Mary and what she majority did her albums from the 90’s. It also the same label diddy first worked at as a&r before he got fired and started Bad Boy. Mary, Diddy, Heavy D & The Boyz, Jodeci, Christopher Williams, Al B Sure & Soul for Real, all started there successful career with Uptown. Biggie was temporary signed to it as well with diddy help. but once he got fired... he brung big with him to launch Bad Boy. R.I.P. Andre Harrell the founder of C.E.O. of uptown records. Always LUUUUUVVVVVed this song!!!!!!! One of my anthems, and my QUEEN MARY homegirl/former neighbor delivers….ALWAYS!!!!!💯💯💯💯❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥🎼🎶💃🏾💃🏾 MotherPop!!!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
One of her best songs to me. I also like the "What's the 411" album. Real Love, Reminisce, You Remind Me, and Love No Limit were great songs on this album that you need to check out.
@@jasonrodgers5533 I already did the other day. It made me cry 🤧 Now when I go back and listen to the album, I can feel the pain in her voice. Every song is like "KCi... why don't you love me?" It's classic. 💯
There are companies that reproduce accurately any old groove that you send them -- that was used heavily on this album -- thats why when you hear the original there are little sounds added or taken away.
Yeah... I seriously doubt diddy ever got behind a keyboard and produced 😂 Bro was probably taking credit for other producers. But... him sampling songs is no different to what Dr Dre was doing sampling the Parliaments- Funkadelic, music. Lol
- My Life album.... whooooooooooooole album jams... her best album in my opinion - Curtis Mayfield sample - You need to watch the My Life documentary... this album is her pouring her heart out - You need to do the whoooooooole My Life album - This album is mostly produced by Chucky Thompson. P. Diddy reeeeeeally doesn't do many beats
The only thing that’s really similar to the Curtis mayfield sample is the beat itself. They sped the tempo up, made it funkier and added some bongos. Mary’s melody and her lyrics are all totally original and different from Curtis mayfield, totally dope 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
These kids came up with creative ways to make music after they started taking instruments out of schools because of our creativity as a people. History is important to learn and unfortunately they don't want the younger generations to learn
Loved all the artists on Uptown Record but hated the engineer who burned it to records & 12" singles. The sound quality was always low even on her 12" of this song. When we were about to play any song from uptown records you better have your volume or gains not all the way up while djing cause the crowd would noticed the change in volume from the song before & after you played a song from uptown records. I fell in this situations a few times & got booed for not paying attention to the volume on the uptown records.
Totally agree about Sean Puffy P Diddy Diddy Combs. He was one of the laziest producers ever. If you're going to sample at least be creative. Don't just take the whole track and put new lyrics to it🙄
I'm sorry you never herd of Mary where do you live under a rock 🪨 I don't believe half of this I never heard of some people do you really listen to the radio for real🤔😒
You want 90s hidden gems? Check out "I'm Going Down" remix by Mary ft. Mr. Cheeks (from Lost Boyz) and "I Love You" ft. Smif-n-Wessun. Since they're before youtube there's literally no way anyone from this period could know how much airplay these songs got back when they came out. View count is so inaccurate. But you really want to know where she got the name 'Queen of hip-hop soul'? It's because of her work in the 90s... hit after hit after hit.
One of her best from arguably her best album
That's why she is called the queen of hip hop soul. A lot of her music is based on hip hop principles, samples, break beats what have you. You got stop harping on the sampling Diddy has done.

Can definitely see you using this as an intro song.
Top mary right here
I feel like this was probably about her relationship with KCi. But yeah, easily one of my top 5 favorites from her 💯

If you haven't done I Can Love You by Mary J Blige featuring Lil Kim, that would be a good one.
Perfect intro for your high energy uploading these days! Bloody good reaction of a great song! The title says it all and I feel happy now.

A classic.
One of my favs from her. I was going thru a breakup with my ex fiance this song and that whole album was my life at that time
Your disdain for Puff is hilarious. You basically are saying everything that we used to say back in the day when he was poppin lol.
Top 5 Mary song!

Why worry about the samples so much? Just enjoy the groove
Because the original artists deserve respect and attention.
