It's an amazing tune recorded live at Sweet Basil NY 1977.
Great performance from brilliant musicians...
Ron Carter - piccolo bass
Kenny Barron - piano
Buster Williams - bass
Ben Riley - drums
Respectfully, he looks just like Yasin Bey (Mos Def)
I thought that 0:13 😊 was him.
My thoughts the moment I looked at his picture.
The first time I looked at it I thought to myself Yasin....
Exactly!!!
This sound is like a party inside my body
what a bangerrrrrrrrr
Ron is such a beast. He has been involved in so many great jazz recordings. Recorded with basically everybody in the history of jazz...his sound is amazing as always!
Most recorded bassist of all time. He was on country records with Jerry Jeff Walker and of course he graced several hip hop records. He is the sound of American bass!
first time listening... DIRECTLY SENT TO COSMOS ! I am still shivering, warm shivers
some one tell the youth THIS is what BASS is about!!!!
So proud and thankful to even be from the same planet as these masters. I’ll go pick up my guitar now, and cry. Kevin
Awwwwwwwe. 😂
First heard this recording on KJAZ san Francisco in 1977. Rushed over to tower records and bought the album. Nearly played the album every day, then found through KJAZ one morning his quartet had been booked at Keystone Korner, bee lined over to their box office for a pair of tixs. What a superb and exciting performance they gave to all of us that night! This tune still rolls within my mind to this day.
One of the best songs in the history of everything!
Is it just me or does he seriously resemble Yasin Bey /Mo's Def. Beautiful composition, thanks for sharing.
There is a likeness indeed. Two exceptional talents, that happen to resemble one another😊
Man's really embracing that low register ! This is a wicked tune thank U Ron heck yea
I worked at Sweet Basil at the time and remember many a late night transfixed by these guys. It's exciting to hear the music again.
Is it true that the sweet basil was shut down? What a pitty... I've only had the chance to see smalls, 55bar and bonafide… but not sweet basil. What was it like?
You are lucky 😉
the intro takes your hand and pulls to the story. So wonderful
This is truly great 💎💎💎💕💕💕 brought me back to life again 😁👍✨✨✨
This is pure gold jazz...
la grande classe!!!
Now i know where Sting got his idea for the intro to 'Wrapped around your finger'
THANK YOU! I knew I was thinking of a Sting song but couldn't figure out which one.
I love mr carter's recording of this song.
Love that growly amplified tone
still love the big baby!!
This is an old recording and each time I hear it it's like meeting an old friend you haven't seen in years or gong back to the old home town and reliving some fond memories. A brilliant performance by the whole RC Ouartet.
Ron carter is one of the truly great bassist in all of jazz history. In the class of the great Charles mingus, Richard davis, Reggie workman, Cecil mcbee and Scott lafaro. He is a masterful cellist and a jazz master in every sense of the word.
I m in love 😍 with your music
Serbia (if you now wer is it ) love jazz
Ron and Buster both in great form!

Anyone else see the Mos def resemblance? Great music.
I made one or 2 beats from this song back in like 94-95 when I was first made aware of Ron Carter via his work with A Tribe Called Quest.. I bought this record at Mystery Train records on Newbury Street back then. Now im gonna sample this song again and make more beats with it...
Make noise when you do so we can listen!
This is Timeless
The man is BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!
I love jazz and its genius...
Ron Carter my favorite !

énorme et hors norme comme Ron !!!
❤
Thought this was Mos Def / Yasin Bey for a sec. Dope music.
Thanks for uploading this, my record is getting old :D
wrapped around your finger sound like this
love this. thank you for uploading this.
Awesome! Such a Classic!!!❤
Hum, delicious 😑😑😑
Wow! Amazing ambiance! Proof positive Ron Carter is one of the roots of the modern classical hip hop, R&B, Pop musical artists that enjoy more widespread appeal today 2020 style. However, the musical skill, knowledge, discipline & passion of the artists shine through creating joy, sparking inner peace.

Mos Def looks a bit like Mr Carter.
Àa
Mos Def's dad
bro wtf
Is Yasiin Bey
Boy do this piano is out of tune! Good performance by Kenny Barron anyway.
He’s hitting the wrong notes constantly
