Appreciate your videos, never taken a cruise but am looking at river cruises in 2022. Your down to earth straightforward approach to what to expect on all sorts of cruises is refreshing. No substitute for hearing from someone who has done it and knows the pros and cons. appreciate it!
Thanks Jim I appreciate that! ❤️
So right about medical insurance. I can never understand the folks who don't get it.
Me neither it stressed me out too much!! :')
If your Cruise is cancelled get your payment refunded much faster by disputing the charge with the credit card company. Our Holland January cruise was cancelled in December. I disputed the charge with the credit card company getting an immediate credit on my account and forcing Holland to respond. Holland refund the full amount in less than a week. In the US you have 60 days to dispute a charge and they must respond within 30 days according to FTC regulations, your milage may vary.
And you are not blacklisted for further cruises?
You insurance comparison is Gold will definitely have to use them. Medical care can get pricey my kiddos tonsillitis cost us $500. We also had to call the states for authorization to treat on the Sat phone .45 cents a minute.
Oh wow!! Ouch.
People cracking the sads about masks are missing the huge benefits: you don’t have to fake smile at everyone and you can silently mouth stuff and get away with it. I love wearing a mask.
Heard of transparent masks? Didn't think so,
Informative and you make it interesting! Good video.
Thank you Michael 🥳❤️
Well said - so very informative and right on the mark.
Thanks Harry! :D
Great advice Emma as a travel agent I think I am going to bookmark this video and have all my prospective clients watch this before booking with me... Great advice..
Thanks Paul! ❤️❤️
Very good information, well put. Since I am 900 miles from the nearest cruise port I don't plan to cruise before late 2021 at the earliest. Until then I enjoy hearing about cruising here on Emma Cruises. :)
Thank you! :D
In May 2019, I went to Alaska on the Holland America Oosterdam. In Ketchikan, I was in the upstairs restroom of a huge tourist trap souvenir shop building. In the stall next to me, I heard a guy say on his phone, I am not kidding, "I'll have to talk to you later. I'm taking a poop in Ketchikan, Alaska." He then walked out without washing his hands! Obviously I don't know if he was on the same ship as me, but he could have started a Norovirus outbreak. We didn't have a problem on the Oosterdam but who knows what could have happened! We may just have gotten lucky, or maybe he was on a different ship. What an ass.
I always get travel insurance on all my cruises and use Allianz for the most part, but, I use Viking's own insurance when I book witt them. Allianz paid for half of my SeaDream cruise when it was stopped after three and a half days due to the virus lockdown. I had to document all, but, that was very easy to do.
Ahh yes!!! That’s a good idea about Viking, the cruise lines do know what they’re doing with their own cruises so makes sense 🥳❤️
@@EmmaCruises Right, and the costs are about the same with Viking and Allianz. They are certainly not inexpensive, but, when you need them, they are very good. The Allianz payment to me for the SeaDream situation was in my bank account in 7 days from the day I submitted the claim, amazing.
@@loumello8813 Blimey!! Incredible :D
What good advice, my friend gets fed up wearing a mask on a ferry to hoek of Holland, I keep telling him it’s how the world is today and for the foreseeable future, another good video , keep up the good work
Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Gees Emma’s the cancellation policy is the first thing I look at when I make any travel booking. I have been travelling over 30 years. It’s a must do.if I just take off somewhere and follow my nose no I don’t worry but a cruise absolutely. If I use a travel agent I often ask to clarify points in writing . They don’t like it but if they want my booking they have to do it. I enjoy your channel. Take care in the UK.
Haha! You’re one of the smartest cruise bookers I know!! Everybody should be like you ❤️❤️
Excellent info to pass on to my clients. Thank you! I just booked my first cruise to the Bahamas for myself in Feb 2022. Can't wait!!!!
Thanks Bacon Dad! What a username ha ha!! That sounds amazing 🙌🥳
@@EmmaCruises Thank you. My kids came up with it when I created my RUclips channel and started making videos. It is fun!!!
Well sweet potato, I yam glad you made this video.
Hahha Bill! Love it.
P&O have just moved final balance for cruises up to June 21 to 31 days before
I wish RCL would do that. I have a final payment due in four days for an April 22, 2021 cruise.
That’s good!!!!
I did the lift and shift to 2022 when the cruise line cancelled my 6 day cruise to Tasmania in February 2021 just in early December last year and my sister and friends wanted cruise credit and Royal Caribbean gave me options to look over and they had two cruises that closely match my itinerary and duration of the cruise so it protected my cruise price and room. So fingers and toes crossed for 2022 and I have a land holiday in August 2021 for my sisters 70th birthday 🎂
Ooooo!! That's amazing. I definitely need to look into it. Pretty sure my itinerary was just a random one off though. Thanks for watching Wendy!
@@EmmaCruises hope you go well over there in the UK 🇬🇧 though you are all going through a big time over there
This is a video that will get too low views... Sadly.
No-one should book without seeing this first! I wonder how this could reach all of them; as they would be thankful of it.
Great stuff; but hopefully obsolete next year!
Haha!! Thanks Markus. Yes!
Emma...Thank you again. I hope you and Hudson and (your crew), have a great day.
To you too! 😁❤️
Another question that you forgot to bring up is can you get Yorkshire pudding on your cruise ship and what can you get put in your Yorkshire pudding
You can! On the British lines anyway hah.
Great info, Emma. I completely agree.
As usual Emma spot on thanks.
Thanks John! ❤️
Great information and I agree with you about travel insurance. It should be non-negotiable to get it.
Agreeed!!! Some cruise lines won't let you cruise without it.
I have two booked one in August and another in December. My August cruise has been booked since 2018. I fly to the port.
Hmmmmm! It’s not impossible..... but yeah ☹️❤️
3:53 - Small clarification: the guest in question was both elderly and poor-in-health before the cruise, to such an extent that he attempted to get (and was denied) travel insurance from multiple firms due to his risk category and level. This is unusual but not rare, and is based on actuarial statistics that are very reliable. Insurance companies normally love travel insurance as it is so infrequently used, and they will normally simply scale the price to reflect the risk - for multiple brokers to outright DENY him required a very serious health risk indeed, and he and his wife were told this multiple times. They chose to skip the insurance and take the cruise anyway.
After his sudden stroke and unfortunate passing, his wife got on social media and attempted to paint it as a case of the Bahamian health care system being incompetent, and spreading the (highly subjective) notion that her husband would have SURELY survived had he been immediately airlifted to the States. Whether or not that was true, it really upset a lot of decent people in the Bahamas because they felt it was an unfair criticism when the man in question had already been told multiple times his health was too poor to take the risk.
Source: I work in the insurance industry and regularly travel for business - this specific case was widely known and discussed, even overseas.
Yeah, makes sense. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Epic thanks for answering my questions now and in the live stream.
Thank you for asking them! ❤️🥳
@@EmmaCruises your welcome
I prefer to have no self-service buffets, with slobs I don't know touching the utensils
OMG a stroke! So scary! You have, really, no control over whether that happens!
Recently booked my first river cruise. Going on the inaugural Tui river cruise 7 nights, 29th March as a package. Not sure if it’s going ahead but it’s great if it does cos the whole holiday including flights/transfers, £120 excursion credit and all inclusive drinks cost me only about £650 for a single person!
That’ll be so good! I love river cruising and so interested in Tui 😀❤️
Very clear and informative.
Glad you liked it :)
Have one booked for Alaska in Sept. Have two booked for 2022.
Sounds good! :D
Thank you Emma. Very helpful.
Thanks both! Glad you enjoyed it :)
This is so informative. Thanks!
Thanks Joyce! ❤️❤️
Carnival cancelled my Madi Gras cruise in May. I told them I would choose the cash back, still waiting.🤔😬
Great video again really good advice
Thanks Shaun 😍❤️
I’m booked on Independence of the Seas for May 2021, I’m ready to go so if it sails I’ll be on it.
Absolutely! As long as you're prepared to have your heard broken (maybe)
@@EmmaCruises this is my 3rd attempt
How do you know which cruise line serves the best Potato's? GREAT VIDEO!
Thanks both!!! 🥳❤️
Great wisdom!
Travel insurance company’s sometimes will not cover people that have certain medical conditions
I’ve never found anybody who can’t get travel insurance, even with the worst conditions 😀👏🏼
Great interesting! Good video
Thanks Dan! ❤️🥳
Hi Emma we have to cancel a Vikings Crusie for 2022 after overnight yes less than 24Hrs. ouch!! we lose $200.00 for canceled. We wear disappointed.
Both of my cruises for 2021 are home port cruises. Less than an hour there.
That’s good! ❤️❤️
Have you considered becoming a travel agent?
I have a cruise in November booked, but I'm not booking anything else in 2021 until I see what happens. If things open up, I can grab a last minute out of Baltimore. I can drive there in an hour.
I think that's a good idea! :)
Any word about the port of Baltimore? I am scheduled to cruise out of their 4/22/2021 but imagine it won’t go.
@@jackiebyers3424 I haven't heard anything specific :(
@@jackiebyers3424 No, nothing specific. I wouldn't count on April though.
Any update about Costa cruises sailing
Emma, I agree with everything you say with one exception., pricing. We sail Celebrity and pricing has been a lot higher vs. 2019. Do you think Celebrity is an exception?
I'm not tooo sure if it's world wide but Celebrity have gone all inclusive, so the prices have gone up a lot but they include more now. Unfortunately it does kind of price me out, but yeah that's their market and it'll do them well.
Sorry, I would book a cruise only one week before the cruise starts. I dont want to loan money to cruise lines that may go belly-up or pile up cancellations the whole year.
Don’t have to say sorry, that’s a smart plan if you can do that 🥳❤️
Nice video again Emma, didn't mention potatoes at all :)
🤣❤️
Emma,
Just an FYI--
I followed the URL link under "Never ever ever ever cruise without travel insurance! Compare quotes here:"
However, when I go to that webpage, it simply says "Travel Insurance Redirection Page" at the top & it shows the "ABOUT ME" section on the right.
The rest seems to be blank???
I'm going to try with a different browser and computer later today (to make sure the problem's not on my end).
Thank you.
Oh no! That’s annoying. What should happen is it should redirect based on your country. What country are you from? Thanks for letting me know! ❤️
Maybe it doesn’t know where you’re from 🤔❤️
@@EmmaCruises Hi Emma,
I’m in the good old USA! :-)
Have tried using Chrome and MSEdge - same results.
@@MovieBuff60 Hey both! Thanks lots for this, It should work now. If you get the chance and could re-click I'd really appreciate it
Excellent content.
Thanks Viktor’ ❤️❤️
I have always booked cruises well in advance, a year or two mostly. I am giving serious thought to waiting and trying to book at the last minute if I see that it is a way to get a better deal. Since I like to book Viking and Oceania, this may not work since they seem to book up way in advance.
Ahh yeah that’s another thing to think about. Do you think they still will though? In advance I mean 🤔❤️
@@EmmaCruises Yes, I looked at one of the popular Med cruises with Viking for 2022 and all the high end suites were sold our and the only available rooms were the deluxe 2 balconies. People that go with Viking regularly seem to like to book way in advance. I don't know much about Oceania since next Christmas will be my first sailing with them, but, I do know that when I was booking with my travel agent that I could not book earlier in December since it was already sold out. So I took the concierge level at Christmas and they only had one left.
Great advice Emma on travel insurance..I use Allianz because I have found the best coverage limits and price...
Ahh yea they can be good 😀❤️
Hi Emma can you give us a update to what is happening with P+O cruise's from Southampton in 2021.
Even P&O don’t have any answer for that I’m afraid! ❤️
@@EmmaCruises but we's a hopin'!
Thank you.
Thank you! ;)
What country do you put on the insurance website if the ship is going between different countries? (well, islands of different countries)
You tick all the countries 😀💕
@@EmmaCruises It didn't give me that option :( I get worldwide travel insurance through my bank account but for the sake of £15 or so I'd rather just get it for the trip. Need some insurance for when I inevitably miss a boarding after a port day!
@@jonjohnson2844 Oh no that's annoying, I always just tick but yeah worldwide should cover it! :D
what site in Canada can you get the comparison for travel cancellation insurance?
That’s a good question, I’m afraid I’ve not found one yet, sorry Karen! ❤️
the very first question in the USA is this ship actually sailing or are they just selling AIR ha ha ha
Great information
Glad it was helpful!
Question should be if you Cancel or get Cancelled from a cruise ,will you get your money back ever. Be in the position money wise that if you lose it you can afford it.🤔😬
Of course you will :)
Seems like I’ve seen this somewhere before
You must have magic powers John!! 😂😂😂
So it’s much better to book a cruise from uk 🛳
Agreeed!! ;)
I hated and loved this video - solid advice but too realistic for me - JK! Emma makes complete sense. I'm booked for January, 2022 with low expectations and the understanding that I may not like a mask-wearing requirement especially if I'm vaccinated but that it is something I am willing to endure.
Haha! I feel the same, hate and love making it 🤣❤️
Is the first one if you are going? 😏😏😏
I don't understand?
It was supposed to be funny, number one would be if you were on it I would book the cruise. Guess it wasn't that funny 🤪
@@Mikeschmidt61 Ohhh I see!! Sorry I forget what the video is as soon as I publish it ;)
@@EmmaCruises ❤️
Probably should ask yourself what type of potatoes are served on board.
That’s question 6 🤣
Firstly , this lady on the video is in the wrong trade, she should be a supermodel or even better , my future wife ! but in all reality, no cruises will happen till all the crew of the ships get vaccinated . it is a must . However , since most of the cruise ship crews are third world origin like Goa or the Phillipines , and they are the floor scrubbers, dish washers, food handlers, waiters and all ship board duties, the vaccination program will not be in any hurry to include third world people sadly and therefore the cruise industry will be extinct as we know it before this year is out . Thats a fact . Do not send any deposits to any cruise line .
Hahah!! Thanks 🤣❤️
Cruises are sailing right now, so that bit isn’t true. But thanks for the compliments 😅❤️
Potato
potato
This poor world no need any more cruising
potato potato potato
Yum yum yum!
What’s with all these potato comments? 🥔
Potato Potato!
